@@bitingantz perfect thank you! I was wondering the same thing when you torqued the downpipes bolts. The book says 47 ft-lbs but I believe you used 42 since the nuts seemed tight already. Send me a personal message and I can send over the caldina manual I found.
Hey boss! Hows it going, I am doing the gen 5 swap in my 1998 rav4 and have most of the stuff taken off before pulling the heads and was wondering why you didnt do the head gasket and if i need to? I will do a leak down but if it checks out to be good should I still do it or skip it. Will be planning to run stock boost for some time, want to cut some corners even though i will have the parts i dont want to get arp headstuds, send the block to get resurfaced, then deal with putting it all back together. Whats your take on this, motor looks very healthy like yours, original timing belt and everything is aligned regarding timing!
Good call on the gen5. I went with the newest 3sgte [a gen5] to avoid having to do any internal work such as heads etc. Its tempting to want to replace everything but at some point you have to weigh the pros & cons and the cost. I took a chance based on the condition of my motor & so far its running great. I figured if i installed & had problems just remove the engine and rebuild. I am also not a professional mechanic so rebuilding an engine would be another layer for me to develop. Its always a gamble with a used engine. Best of luck with the swap and I recommend getting wiring done professionally if your are not experienced in that arena.
@@bitingantz I appreciate the quick response! I will take my chance a lot of people swear by toyotas original headgasket can handle for the life of the motor as long as you dont have detonation due to bad tuning or engine problems!
This video is amazing. So informative. Makes me almost think I could Gen 5 swap my Gen 2 MR2 turbo
Thank you. Im sure you can do it. Just stay positive and determined to get it done.
Another great video Ryan, keep them coming!
Im excited for Craig! 🤗
Keep the gen 5 3s videos coming need help with mods for my caldina gt4🤣👌
Will do, thanks for watching and please share with your friends
Great videos! Did you ever find the torque spec for the oil cooler block off plate bolt? I found 79N*M or 58 ft-lbs.
Hello . For the gen2 engine its 58ft pounds but a completely different design to a gen5. I used 45 ft lbs and have not had any leaks or issues.

@@goped982 i will have to agree with that. They are good engines.
Do you do swaps on the side?
Don’t take the beams out!! Turbo the beams please just change the piston and rods
Too complicated at this point to rebuild the beams.
@@bitingantz I understand you will have to go piston, rods and ecu
