Dave’s ‘baby steps’ and philosophy changed my financial mindset. That was 10 years ago and I’m so grateful.

A low buy would definitely be sooooo much easier if we all could do a combination of volunteering at a shelter once a week and simply understanding investing in ETFs.
    Hear me out!
Volunteering helps exhaust the anxiety of wanting to do something for a sense of reward. It also helps take away that time of browsing and checking out the carts. Understanding we could use the money to sponsor another being also helps us appreciate the value of a small amount of money, charitably donated with intention.
Understanding ETFs is crucial too, because once the investment concept is grasped, we would all strive for the amount we realistically want to have in our investment balance if we wanted to use the 4% rule to reach retirement. Keep busy!

I think if you really can't stop compulsively spending, it might be worth seeing a therapist. It's great to hear your reflections, it shows how much you've grown ❤

Certainly! There’s also a difference between compulsive vs. impulsive shopping so it’s important to distinguish which is relevant to a persons experience. Thanks for watching!

A great Podcast to listen to is Ramit Sethi’s “I will teach you to be Rich”. He goes into money psychology and how our money behavior can be better understood and change.

My low buy definitely went down hill (after successfully completing a no-buy year). I’m doing a no buy with the same parameters as last year for the next few months. I’m documenting all of this on my channel too because I feel I am a compulsive shopper. I enjoy your videos and glad you are examining what is best for you 😊

I like a little bit of the two formats! It would be very interesting. Also, looking forward to reading the book you suggested!

Doing a zero spend. I just needed to buy a vacuum. I added this purchase to my budget. That’s what emergency funds are for.

I just wanted u to know that I recently found your channel & I am really enjoying your content. I’ve saved a ton of money shopping on Etsy when I do shop. If u go to the zero waste section, u will be shocked at all of the high quality products that u can find that will save u literally thousands of dollars bc they’re reusable. As long as u have a good washing machine, which most of us do have, u won’t believe all the household products that u can just wash and reuse. I hope you’ll check it out.

Hi Amber! Thanks for your support on here. I appreciate you sharing about your savings on Etsy - I’m excited to look more into that. Do you have a favourite reusable household product that you’ve purchased from there?

You are right on it. Flexibility. I had to reset my no buy to a low buy. I was being hard on myself for even going to the grocery store. Ummm... Dave Ramsey is problematic. I'll let you do the research, but that is my feelings. Great video, thanks🎉

Dave Ramsey has helped countless people get their finances in order.... the vague use of "problematic" is very immature and just elusive enough to not really be saying anything at all

@AngelissimaASMR whoa, chill superfan, it's not all that serious. I didn't tell her to stop listening. The Dave Ramsey way is not inherently a bad way to secure your finances. The problem is that it's not sustainable for most people. If you look at the main reason why people overspend, it's from untreated trauma. I personally would feel more comfortable if he suggested therapy with in the baby steps. Also, a $ 1000 emergency fund is not enough in this inflation. Have a great day!
