    I found this out on Friday, I'd been using a ugreen capture card and the USB camera app with my work laptop for ages after finding out how to do it on one of your previous videos, but tried the meta hdmi link app and I was getting about 2 frames per second, checked my ugreen capture card and it was usb 2.0, so think this was the problem, ordered a 3.0 one off Amazon for £18 and tried it today and alls good, getting 60 fps now

    I'm using the elgato 4k 60 cam link capture card and although it doesn't charge the quest while i use the card it works flawlessly, what i have discovered is its not the capture card its what source is connected to the device that determines the FPS i used my xbox and ps5 and got 60 FPS used my Ipad and Iphone and it was 9 FPS also if your capture card is not displaying properly as i ran into this issue just restart the source device and the quest 3 and wow! now i'm playing animal crossing new horizon on a 100 inch screen coming from my nintendo switch into my quest 3 headset. one last thing i have tested Nintendo switch oled, xbox series x, Ps5, Laptop and my Apple TV and its crazy my best feature is watching Apple TV all apps a go on a 100 plus inch screen Great Job Meta.

      A single window. The idea of the HDMI Link app is to take any HDMI feed from a capture card. So devices you usually wouldn't be able to out to the headset. PS5, Nintendo Switch, Super Nintendo etc

    HI, Check which way round the USB-C cable is slotted into the capture card as usually the USB-C does not care which way round but on this setup It seems to matter. It seems to have something to do with position of sense pins and could account for low fps and MJPEG is selected in capture options.

      Hello,
      I have now received my capture card and was able to test it a bit. I tried it with Samsung DeX and with the Switch and I'm satisfied. It maintains 50 to 60 fps at 1080p. The only thing I noticed with Samsung DeX is that when you change the window size in the Meta Quest, the text becomes a bit blurry. I suspect this is simply due to the app itself. What I found a bit annoying is that the input side is nicely long, but the output side is very short. This means that the capture card is literally hanging in your face. So considering an extension on that side is worth thinking about. I used a USB 3.0 extension because I absolutely want to charge my Quest 3. Therefore, I bought a USB adapter that can charge USB-C and has a USB 3.0 connection for data input.
      You can also charge the device you're streaming from via the capture card's power delivery input. This is important if you want to stream the Switch, for example. Unfortunately, it doesn't work without PD.
      Here are the names of the devices. All found on Amazon.
      YCE Video Capture 4K HDMI for €30.00
      AuviPal BCLINK 2-in-1 USB-C to USB 3.0 Adapter with 100W Charging Port €9.99 (For the Quest 3)
      Extension cable for the output side is recommended.
      If you have any questions, just let me know.

    My Hope Is that I can do something like connect a DVD or Blu-ray player up through HDMI. Or the HDMI out on my laptop. I've got a USB 3.0 Blu-ray player that connects to this laptop and a couple of other laptops that I've got have a Blu-ray player built in. You may find this hard to believe but there's a lot of us that use physical media. I've got a old Sony HUD unit connected to a Blu-ray player from Sony those Huds were only sold in Japan and the one that I've got seen better days I was never able to get the light blocker that goes on the bottom as an example and the quest is a lot better overall. I've got a massive anime library of over a thousand DVDs and Blu-rays and I'm not exaggerating. That's not including how many non-anime DVDs and Blu-rays I have. A lot of people I Used to Know got married and when they got married I ended up with their anime collections. I even have a British James Bond box set was like the 50th Anniversary or something like that from Britain and I've got a few DVD players that run British DVDs. You don't want to know how many discs are in that box set LOL I forget if it's 60 or 100 all together between the bonus features and so on. I miss Right Stuff media. I know some people like Crunchyroll but there are so many problems with Crunchyroll like localization and censoring and stuff they flat out won't run. Big part of what I use the Quest for is things like big screen UA-cam Amazon and so onI bought a cheap quest to specifically for having something that's a lot less valuable than the quest 3 that I can take with me and connect to Wi-Fi at a McDonald's or someplace like that and watch UA-cam and Amazon Prime LOL when I'm out somewhere. So something like this is a added bonus.

      Hey so I did manage to make it work with the hd60x. I connected the ps5 with the card via hdmi 2.1 cable, then proceeded to connect the card with the usb c link cable from meta to my quest 3 and before I set the video output of my ps5 to 1080p 60 hz in the video menu and deactivated the hdcp in the hdmi menu. Then restarted the ps5. Finally was able to get a stable 60fps 1080p with hdr as throughput ❤

    I'm confused as to what this accomplishes. Like, why have this? Virtual desktop costs $20 and gets rid of all the issues you were having. Is there a functionality im not thinking of that makes ot worth the extra cost and trouble shooting?

    • @husondiy
      @husondiy  3 місяці тому +34

      Virtual desktop allows you to send your PC (and other thing) to Quest, 100%. This is allowing you to send ANY HDMI outputting device into your headset as a screen. This could be a PS5, PS4, Xbox, BluRay player etc etc.

      As a photographer this is extremely helpful for virtual monitoring of my camera feed. I take a lot of macro photos so my camera is usually closer to my subject than it is to my face, making it a bit of an eye strain to look at my screen and figure out what my camera's seeing. This solves that problem by giving me a movable, resizable output feed while still keeping my hands free to focus/zoom/etc.
