I remember this case like it happened yesterday. For the life of me I will never understand how they were both paired together! It’s made no sense. Tina - student athlete, social butterfly and had one year left before graduating. Shanterika - college freshmen Tina should have been housed with other athletes and Shanterika should have been housed with other freshmen …that’s usually how it goes but it may be different since the apartments weren’t affiliated with the school it just housed some of the students. 1. Tina was very neat, Shanterika was not. 2. Tina did not want to share her personal items (that’s her right, she’s NOT obligated to do so …) but for some stranger reason Shanterika did not respect that, and did as she pleased with Tina’s stuff (red flag 1) 3. Tina would blatantly ignore Shanterika friends and stay in her room until they left… 4 Tina’s boyfriend was always at the apartment which made Shanterika uncomfortable..(that should have also been addressed..) 5. Shanterika smoked weed in the apartment (not allowed on campus, not allowed in the complex, and definitely can hurt Tina’s scholarship and chance at obtaining a degree) 6. Shanterika refused to stop touching and using Tina’s stuff, even when Tina would write her name and separate her belongings. Shanterika refused to stop smoking in the apartment ….which caused a lot of issues. Tina even after mediation about her boyfriend, still allowed him to come over despite promising he would not .. Shanterika claimed she was uncomfortable because of Tina’s boyfriend so she slept somewhere else but would stop by the apartment just to smoke with her other friends thinking Tina won’t be there during those hours (student athletes got a lot going on) She didn’t know Tina was home and decided to not only smoke but walk around the apartment smoking and doing laundry …that’s when Tina decided to report her thinking she would get in trouble ..Shanterika decided to fight her, she lost the fight …went to the kitchen..grabbed a knife and stabbed Tina multiple times but she wound to the chest was fatal. She not only lied but tried to over it up. She was changed and convicted….recently few of her appeals have been denied ..
What a terrible outcome for both young ladies. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University MTSU ( not Middle Tennessee University not MTU ) and lived ON campus for 3 years. living in an apartment OFF campus the rules are a little different and less restrictions. They lived in an apartment that is not governed by the school. I wish they could have talked to a mediator about their issues and one of them had simply moved out 😢
I don't like it when we go against each as black women....we are all we got😢 no matter how different another black woman is from me we still have something in common and i build on that. This hurt😢
j Jealously is rotten to the bones if left unchecked. She was jealous cause she was a very popular student who had lots of friends. This is so sad, and she really didn't deserve to die.
As someone who went through having issues with my roommate. These college management offices need to do a better job with placing people. I showed them evidence of my roommate threatening me, sexually harassing me and everything else but they did nothing but tell me to call the cops or that it'd be a pain for me to move out of my apartment into another one.
😢just wish these two young ladies could have had some kind of conversation about their differences and came together to set boundaries, the school should have taken both of them young ladies complaint’s seriously and made arrangements to move one of them 😢😢S.I.P Tina
This happened because of a lack of respect from both girls. Lack of respect can lead to violence and even death if the issue isn't properly addressed. They didn't respect each other's boundaries. Sad just sad. Now both of there lives have been taken. May the young lady who died, R.I.P. and prayers for the other girl and both of their families.
The girl who murdered her should have been held accountable not the school. Rules were already set before they were assigned to that dormitory. She should have abided by them. You cant make people move out just because of disagreements. They were supposed to talk to them both in person.
Violence is never the answer in a situation like this, they definitely didn't make a big enough effort to be moved. I've seen roommates switched out a numerous amount of times when I was in college. The 29 year sentence was definitely justice served.
I grew up here in Memphis, TN. I have never heard this. I will check with relatives who also attended MTSU. This is truly sad. Listening now, I can tell, even after confessing, she was still lying. Many prayers with Tina's family.
The University should be held partly responsible for this situation. When the parents attempted intervene and the school did nothing to help the situation they let this get out of hand.
She went to that apartment with her friend to confront tina. This was premeditated and i hope she got the maximum amount of time. There were so many other ways to resolve the conflict
Back in the 90s all of the athletes stayed in a completely separate dorm from the rest of us. They really should have done something more than “just get along” but they clearly didn’t know how unhinged this young woman was. I had TWO extremely different roommates. Freshman year roommate was a robot who refused to speak to me, like literally the entire time. But she also didn’t speak to anyone else either. 🧐🧐🧐 Sophomore year roommate was a party animal who came in all hours of the night smelling like beer. 🤢🤢🤢 Even though we were polar opposites neither of us decided to stab the other. 🤦🏾♀️
lol I’ve never met a female that likes hiding she’s from Memphis… they’dre loud and proud but Memphis is their own little state 😂 but I remember this case. Smh girls do get viscous especially in college 😒 happened with me. RIP 🫶🏾

I blame the apartment complex. These girls didn’t choose to be roommates. Sounds like they both did things to intentionally irritate the other and both complained multiple times to the office. A roommate reassignment would have prevented this from happening.

@@sunjeesae385 Agree that the apartment was not for the boyfriend but the action of the accused was not justified. In my view the accused and her friend attacked the deceased.
Tina's family should've sued the school bc those girls tried everything they were supposed to try to be separated. The school failed them. Still no excuse for what she did. Ruined so many lives including her own. Smh what a waste.
I’m originally from Nashville. I remember this case. It was one of the cases that first got me interested in true crime.,
This is sad ending for both girls
This is such a sad story with two young women that did not agree on living arrangements
I remember this case like it happened yesterday. For the life of me I will never understand how they were both paired together! It’s made no sense.
Tina - student athlete, social butterfly and had one year left before graduating.
Shanterika - college freshmen
Tina should have been housed with other athletes and Shanterika should have been housed with other freshmen …that’s usually how it goes but it may be different since the apartments weren’t affiliated with the school it just housed some of the students.
1. Tina was very neat, Shanterika was not.
2. Tina did not want to share her personal items (that’s her right, she’s NOT obligated to do so …) but for some stranger reason Shanterika did not respect that, and did as she pleased with Tina’s stuff (red flag 1)
3. Tina would blatantly ignore Shanterika friends and stay in her room until they left…
4 Tina’s boyfriend was always at the apartment which made Shanterika uncomfortable..(that should have also been addressed..)
5. Shanterika smoked weed in the apartment (not allowed on campus, not allowed in the complex, and definitely can hurt Tina’s scholarship and chance at obtaining a degree)
Shanterika claimed she was uncomfortable because of Tina’s boyfriend so she slept somewhere else but would stop by the apartment just to smoke with her other friends thinking Tina won’t be there during those hours (student athletes got a lot going on)
She didn’t know Tina was home and decided to not only smoke but walk around the apartment smoking and doing laundry …that’s when Tina decided to report her thinking she would get in trouble ..Shanterika decided to fight her, she lost the fight …went to the kitchen..grabbed a knife and stabbed Tina multiple times but she wound to the chest was fatal. She not only lied but tried to over it up. She was changed and convicted….recently few of her appeals have been denied ..
All signs were there especially the smoking and useing her things without permission. Time to move out.
He should have not been there without his girlfriend the gye. Nor the other girls.
I told my niece to keep her door lock at all times they only shared the common areas. So her things did not get touch.
What a mismatch!! Wth decided these 2 would be a perfect match as roommates plus one was an athlete and the other was a freshman!!! May Tina RIP🌹
I wish they could have talked to a mediator about their issues and one of them had simply moved out 😢
Thank you so much for bringing LIGHT to OUR story when EVERYONE else sweeps them under the rug .#say her name
I don't like it when we go against each as black women....we are all we got😢 no matter how different another black woman is from me we still have something in common and i build on that. This hurt😢
You can tell shanterica lying, lying. She know she stabbed Tina and she could have helped her by calling an ambulance but she didn't!
She making it up on the go
How was it the boyfriend fault?! Yall in these comments so 🗑️🗑️🚮🗑️. She won the fight.. but 🔪 that girl.. LEFT HER FOR 💀 and admitted it.

Jealously is rotten to the bones if left unchecked. She was jealous cause she was a very popular student who had lots of friends. This is so sad, and she really didn't deserve to die.
This is a sobering reminder of the dangers that exist in our world. My prayers are with the victims' families.
As someone who went through having issues with my roommate. These college management offices need to do a better job with placing people. I showed them evidence of my roommate threatening me, sexually harassing me and everything else but they did nothing but tell me to call the cops or that it'd be a pain for me to move out of my apartment into another one.
My Deepest Condolences To The Family and Friends 🙏❤
Smh this was tragic for both girls. This could’ve easily been avoided had the school intervened.
RIP TINA and thanks for her story.
😢just wish these two young ladies could have had some kind of conversation about their differences and came together to set boundaries, the school should have taken both of them young ladies complaint’s seriously and made arrangements to move one of them 😢😢S.I.P Tina
I remember watching this sad story on a TV Show years ago. It showed the apartments, the bedroom. So sad.😢
I definitely remember this story.. senseless 😢
It was Shandrieka who didn’t like to clean up not Tina…
I’ve seen this story so many times. Why would they house a freshman scholar with a junior athlete?
Remembering this horrible horrible event 😢🙏🏾
This happened because of a lack of respect from both girls. Lack of respect can lead to violence and even death if the issue isn't properly addressed. They didn't respect each other's boundaries. Sad just sad. Now both of there lives have been taken. May the young lady who died, R.I.P. and prayers for the other girl and both of their families.
The girl who murdered her should have been held accountable not the school. Rules were already set before they were assigned to that dormitory. She should have abided by them. You cant make people move out just because of disagreements. They were supposed to talk to them both in person.
Freshman should have to stay on campus their first year
So sad RIP Tina
My god! I remember when this happened. My then boyfriend lived in those apartments at MTSU in 2011. So sad and could have definitely been avoided
She's just telling lie after lie😢 So Sad and i truly believe she had that knife in her hands when she entered that room
Y’all have a lot of sympathy for this lying behind killer.
Beyond sad 😢
Violence is never the answer in a situation like this, they definitely didn't make a big enough effort to be moved. I've seen roommates switched out a numerous amount of times when I was in college. The 29 year sentence was definitely justice served.
Shanterrica that name says it all …
That part😮and please don't leave out that mugshot. I probably would've had my boyfriend over every night too
Yeah......
Love this channel . . . Just a minor correction Tina was the clean one not Shanterika
Jealousy is as cold as the grave. Smh
Rest in peace angel😢
Senseless
I grew up here in Memphis, TN. I have never heard this. I will check with relatives who also attended MTSU. This is truly sad. Listening now, I can tell, even after confessing, she was still lying.
Many prayers with Tina's family.
The University should be held partly responsible for this situation. When the parents attempted intervene and the school did nothing to help the situation they let this get out of hand.
She went to that apartment with her friend to confront tina. This was premeditated and i hope she got the maximum amount of time. There were so many other ways to resolve the conflict
It's her apartment too. She should've never had to be pushed out the way she was. That man should've never been there. Period
@@pettiestofbettys 💯
She went to her own apartment that she shared with
Ohhh I was at MTSU during this time😩😭 God I remember this like it was yesterday!
Just found your channel n im hooked❤ Thank you!!!! #imablackgirltoo
Sophomore year roommate was a party animal who came in all hours of the night smelling like beer. 🤢🤢🤢
Even though we were polar opposites neither of us decided to stab the other. 🤦🏾♀️
This isn’t the 90s….also not every athlete parties
lol I’ve never met a female that likes hiding she’s from Memphis… they’dre loud and proud but Memphis is their own little state 😂 but I remember this case. Smh girls do get viscous especially in college 😒 happened with me. RIP 🫶🏾
Exactly that's a big lie lol. Memphis people let you know they are Memphis anywhere they go.
This is nuts
You can only pray ya child has a peaceful drama free college experience. Ain’t nothing worst then a roommate from hell!!
Only if Tima would had moved! That drama wasn’t even worth it and she was a such a determined young woman
One of my sister bestfriend. I still remember them growing up. She always wanted to play against me in basketball. I hate we never had our chance to do that
I attended MTSU when this happened. It really brought the campus down for real. It shocked everybody.
Her parents and family shouldn't gotten Tina away from this monster. Smoking weed shows that her team-mate was not mentally stable.
Weed smoking doesn’t mean there’s mental instability….
I blame the apartment complex. These girls didn’t choose to be roommates. Sounds like they both did things to intentionally irritate the other and both complained multiple times to the office. A roommate reassignment would have prevented this from happening.
Wow Shanterica is a lousy liar in addition to being a killer. Tina’s murder could have been avoided if the school would have found different living arrangements for these girls.
She was a hater . That’s all . Jealousy will make you do crazy things and you can tell she was lying in the interrogation . Sad sad girl .
Please do raven white Birmingham Alabama pregnant teen murdered culprit never found. While sitting in the car with her unborn child's father, whom was not harmed.
Will you do a stories on Janeecia Mason and Shamia Little ??? They both from my city and they get no recognition for neither of their deaths
The narrator is awesome.. it's sad and 💔 this wouldn't have happened if she had left instead of knocking on her bedroom door
