    Wednesday night was my favorite night for TV with "The Bionic Woman", "Beretta" and "Charlie's Angels " in 1976-77!

    The good old days when TV ads were terrific!! I watched TV ads from 1964-1989, when they were current. Most had jingles, and were of items people used...food, cars, beer, candy, aspirin, household products, coffee, tea, etc. I never heard anyone back then gripe about them. When I watch them on you tube, they bring back the cozy memories of my childhood and teens. I liked the cigarette ads too, and none had ever made me smoke. They were entertaining. None were annoying.

      It's funny how I seem to remember a lot of beer commercials from that period, even though in 1976 I was 16 years too young to legally drink the stuff (LOL)!

    6:12 Arby's was my first job out of HS. and the apple and cherry turnovers were the still made by Pillsbury.
    I'm guessing the kids making them had the munchies. "It's our turn to bake," indeed.

    It's almost Independence day and we got commercials from the bicentennial year! They go way back to when I was less than 10 years old. Whoever recorded this off the air must've been one of the luck few to own a VCR, or as we would call them, video recorders.

    These ABC promos are so epic...it helps having Ernie Anderson doing the voiceovers, but so many famous shows! The Bionic Woman, Welcome Back Kotter, and Barney Miller...with Abe Vigoda!
    I'm really glad you post these commercials as well, it's easy to see how the 70s style continued into the early 80s.

    To a young boy in the 70s Lee Majors was the equivalent of a mythical god being the Six Million Dollar Man as well as Farrah Fawcett's husband. Oh there's an odd one here or there (like the finish dishwashing one), but to me these older ones are the best! Great to watch when there's nothing good on the tv (more and more the case nowadays).

    Don't they change movie titles just because the original movie was a bomb in the box office and the network wants to try to fool some unsuspecting people into watching it? I remember NBC took Justine Bateman's "Satisfaction" and tried to readvertise it as "The Boys of Summer" just to highlight supporting costar Julia Ronerts.

    How was this recorded in 1976? In color? In such high quality? This is years before VCRs

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  8 років тому +2

      VCR's have been around since 1975. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Videocassette_recorder#Mass-market_success
      And is the color question serious? All of the major networks have been broadcasting in color since the early-mid 60's.

    • @SWRadioConcepts
      @SWRadioConcepts 8 років тому +1

      LOL While I have the opportunity THANK YOU for uploading these. It's a blast from the past for me and really appreciated.
      I know color has been around since the early 50's, but I meant recording in color. I remember some family friends had a VCR in the early (very early) 80s, but it didn't record in color.

    • @SWRadioConcepts
      @SWRadioConcepts 8 років тому +2

      That said whoever had a VCR in 1976 must have been very wealthy.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  8 років тому +1

      There are actually quite a few recordings in color from the mid-late 70's out there, so while the VCR's used to record them may have been very expensive, it was not impossible. It's also possible that this is a copy of a KABC network aircheck recorded onto a VHS tape years later.

    • @bagster7879
