After overcoming a few problems with the oil filter tool, I carry out an oil and filter change on the BMW 1 series.

Hi mate, great video- do you know if all tools needed are the same for ‘67 plate 1 series?
Should be, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
You could put a small magnet on the sump plug to undo, just saves your hands getting oil on them.
Great Tip, will remember that one, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
You still got the car. Iv just done mine but found oil leaking from the filer cap and running down the plugs holes lol. Only small amounts. Guess I need new cap
yes I think so too, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
I put 5W40 Petronas oil in mine, engine runs a tad quieter, it's BMW LL04 compliant too
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Excellent - thank you
You are welcome! Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Followed your instructions to the T . Spot on , thanks so much for this. That plastic engine cover thingy is a bit of a case of ‘wiggle it and jiggle it’ i think!
Hello mate really important question what year is this 1 series I have a 2005 BMW 118D
ES (122) 1995CC 5DR and I just can't find what grades to use I believe I used the same oil as you did on this video I no it 5-30 but I need to top mine up and I got 5-30 c3 oil halfords come up to use Petronas Syntium 5000 c2/c3 please help us here I believe this is the same one series as mine ? Maybe newer but same engine?
this is 2012, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Is it not recommended to use a torque wrench to tighten down the filter.
how many liters of oil did you pour into the reservoir? in my case, 5.2 liters should go to 118d
Sound about right, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Would you recommend an oil extractor I'm not confident with jack's
I have mixed reviews on oil extraction, I think it depends on the quality of the tool used, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
@@aaanton11 by the way I bought a universal oil removal tool a rubber one from eurocarparts do think that'll work? About to service my car watching your video!
I'd recommend every 5K miles on N47
If you use a good synthetic oil 10000 miles is no problem, I presume you are concerned about timing chain issues, I think they are highlighted if you miss services and obviously the old engines has manufacturing issues, not even changing the oil every week would sort them out, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
aaanton11 you will find a lot of the bmw owners change oil at least every 6k. 10k is way over due
i agree for everything you’ve said.you’ve done a good change oil.but buying a descent oil is not wasting your money is it.its protection for your engine on a crucial start and stop situation.you need a descent oil.
Thanks for the great information👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Totally agree even worse is shell helix hx8 5w40 full synthetic is cheaper on carparts4less than there own tripleqx brand by 12 quid.
In my honda i always drop oil every 6k and use castrol magnatec. On the bmw i change that every 6k aswell.
I used to say naa its bollox, oil brands dont matter sevice every 12k or every year.
6L of shell and a bosch filter just cost me 35 quid.
The video is good! I aint knocking that..ive noticef most bmw owners fit landsails tyres and use mannol or triple qx oil lol
@@johndavies4644 doesn’t really make sense, mannol tests show that it’s the same in all tests as shell and castrol, so why would I buy from them where I can get a 20l for £30-40 which is best value for mondy
The video is about to change the oil filter and when it comes to fit it the guy cover all the video. What a joke. Useless.
Try this one the job is the same, ua-cam.com/video/SHBXR1cxtyc/v-deo.html for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
