@@josephjoestar275 I mean it’s no different than most of these sports players who don’t even have a high school reading level and still get privileged with millions of dollars just for throwing a ball really well.
Athletes are overpaid and all they do is shoot a basketball, throw/catch a football, kick a soccer ball, etc. People like police officers, medical staff, firefighters, teachers, etc should be getting paid more. For example in the NFL a backup QB who doesn’t even play one game in a season still gets paid millions for doing nothing

Its pretty disgusting. 70 percent of India makes under 3 dollars a day or something. The bottom 50 percent of the world population makes 10 dollars or less a day, and yet someone like Michael Jordan has 3.3 billion for total lifetime earnings....when a child dies of hunger every 5 to 10 seconds. Pretty messed up. People can rationalize it all they want.
As far as the amount of work they do, athletes are way overpaid. Like in basketball they only "work" 82 days in a season, two or so hours a day and they make 7 figures. If you translated their schedule to a blue collar schedule of 260 days in a year, a basketball player making say $35 million a season would make $110.9 million. In reality there is no other career as lucrative as a professional athlete.
My question is how hasn't Lebron James donated his hundreds of millions of dollars to those engineers and doctors? If I knew I was making that much money to bounce a ball around while those people could barely make ends meet I would donate every damn chance I got. No wonder so many celebrities get addicted to drugs, I think they know on some level at least that they're actually worthless.
As a society we should probably stop elevating entertainers to the level that we do. These were the lowly court jesters of ancient times. That being said, Hollywood actors are the most undeserving of the money that they make. Pro athletes and musicians are much more deserving and only there’s a pretty good correlation between talent and income. With acting it’s who you know because some of the best actors and actresses will never make it to the main stream audience.
Thank you this is a very good explanation about the same time if we want more jobs. More money we're going to pay more taxes which I know people don't want to do and record labels and the NFL for an example they do donate but they're not going to give away half the revenue to just anyone who asks for it
I agree with most of what you said except that pro athletes and musicians are way more deserving. That's a completely insane statement. I don't think any of them are deserving of that kind of money, but let me focus on athletes first. It makes me sick to think that we are paying men an outrageous salary to shoot a ball into a hoop, kick a ball into a goal, score a touchdown, etc. Pointless. Next, how about "musicians?" I love music as much as the next person, but to pay them millions of dollars to write songs and perform on a stage is ridiculous. Most of them are not even at the top of their field(professional classical musicians and studio musicians are 5x better.) Lastly, acting is one of those things like music that can evoke many emotions and I enjoy the cathartic effect they both have. However, the Rock doesn't need 90 million dollars and however many houses and cars. Get a grip America!! It's appalling!!!
What about families with multiple people in pro sports? Like the father and 2 sons and an uncle, etc. Is it because they have amazing genetics for that sport? Or is it because they were conditioned to play from a young age and had ALL the doors opened for them to get in. Sports has just as much of a nepotism problem.
I think entertainers(sports, music, film e.t.c) should get paid a lot since their careers are unstable but would it kill us to add even a 20k increment to the salaries of doctors and engineers
Supply and demand. The demand for high level entertainment is great but the supply is very limited. That's why a guy like lebron, messi and ronaldo to name a few make so much money. They're at the top of their professions. People pay top dollar to see them, that's why they make so much.
