Thank you for the review! Even after almost 60 years of gun work, I still enjoy - and keep an open mind about - the performance of newer c-l-p products on the market. Love Hoppes No. 9, and its identifiable scent brings back years of good sporting memories. Thanks again!
I did find it helpful. I don't own any guns but I was interested in terms of its practical use on metal woodworking tools. Thanks. And now there are more things in my Amazon wish list.
These are always interesting, although I don't know how realistic the burnt powder test is as it relates to gun cleaning. The powder isn't burnt in the chamber or barrel, but rather in the bullet casing. I do understand the need to remain consistent however. I think It would also be nice to see a test of toxic vs non-toxic cleaners. Hoppe's against something like Slip 2000 725 cleaner /degreaser.. A test of their Gun Lube CLP would be interesting as well, as it is also Mil-Spec and has a NSN # meaning it's in use by the military.
Larger bore guns, like shotguns burn some powder in the barrel. Muzzle flash is powder burning. Black powder guns are the most prone to powder fouling.
Seems almost every one of these CLP's don't live up to the "C" in their products name. I would like to see how Breakthrough Clean's CLP does in these tests. Thanks for the video, God bless.
Different CLP, same result. I've always said that a CLP is a compromise. $13 for a 4oz bottle is absurd. Only thing CLPs are good for is to separate money from you.
Good stuff Bud!! Always love the videos from Magdad Labs!!☻
Thanks RoadKing!
Always enjoys these reviews. Thank you.

Thanks George!
Nice job, Magdad! Thanks for taking the time to set up and complete the test. Good information.😀👍
Thanks!
thanks for the reviews!
You're welcome Mike!
Your real world tests are very useful. I've seen them all, and so far Hoppes hasn't been bested for its solvent properties on powder residues. Thanks.
Thanks! The only CLP that comes close is Ballistol.
Nothing beats good old Hoppes #9…. Especially the smell. 😃👍
It is hard to beat good 'ol Hoppes #9!
Thanks Magdad, I appreciate all the time and effort you put into making your reviews as fair and consistent as possible, great work !
Thanks Andy!

I like the Lucas CLP as a light oil on tools.
@@357magdad Thanks, glad to know your favorite on that. I'll quickly go and add it to my wish list.
Great information Magdad it's much appreciated
You're welcome Michael!
That was a nice comparison. I wonder if it would be a good lubricant for pocket knives.
Thanks Larry! Any of the CLP's are great for pocket knives. I like to use REM oil.
thanks for an excellent review.

Thanks for the Review. Hoppe No 9 is my go to. As I always say if it not broke don’t fix it😂
Hoppes #9 is hard to beat, literally!
Hoppes for the win, thanks Magdad
Only Ballistol has come close to Hoppes in my tests.
@@357magdad I use both Hoppes and Ballistol, the only think about Ballistol is I don't like the smell, but I live with it .
@@Dardrum Ballistol has a love it or hate it smell. I don't love it...
And that's why we use Hoppes! Thanks Magdad.
It's hard to go wrong with good 'ol Hoppes #9!
I’ve always loved the smell of Hoppes Number 9. I wonder what ingredient gives it that unique fragrance. 👃🏼

Thanks Chris! I'll put it on the list.
So use the Hop to clean and s9mething else to lube, or does the Hop protect as well as the others?
Hoppes #9 is a dedicated powder solvent. You have to follow up with a gun oil or CLP for protection.
Love Hoppes 9.
Me too Mike!
What does Chuck use to clean his slingshot?
Chuck likes the smell of Ballistol...

Ballistol is the only CLP I've tested that seems like it can "do it all".
@@357magdad
I've used Ballistol and find it to be about the same as the other CLPs. Also, the horrendous aroma of Ballistol makes it almost unusable.
@@stchman Ballistol has a love it or hate it smell, but it out performed all of the CLP's I've tested:
