why is everyone saying this is evil... it's a psychological exercise. you're trying to understand what your subconscious is thinking about, and attempting to tap out of your conscious mind just for a few moments. really relaxing- this doesn't need to have a spiritual tag to it. i'm a christian and i think this is a great way to understand yourself better. i don't think it has to do anything with a spirit controlling your hand, lol.
I think intention plays a big part. A lot of the people who started this technique were either under the influence of drugs or hoping to channel some spirit or dead being. I am Christian as well and I do find my writing to be more interesting when i "freewrite" first. I think you can do this but we can ask the holy spirit to influence our writing instead.
