thanks guys i was about to bring it to a shade tree mech i am going to pig trail in Arkansas dont have time to be number 19 in line up I can do it my self Great simple instructions THANK YOU
Good tips in the videos which made replacing the fork tube seals on my Sportster easier than expected. My only glich was getting the 6mm screw out from bottom of each assembly. I had to take each assembly off my bike, hold it inverted in a vise, apply heat from a propane torch to the screw head and then apply considerable force to free them as each had been installed with thread locker. Note a 3/8" impact wrench would not budge the screws and I was concerned my 1/2" impact wrench might strip the screw heads.
working on an 87 fxst same principle except that dang 6mm bolt.. I too hand to remove the hole tube then with an earthquake 3/8 impact and a shaved down broom handle was able to get it out..the end of the dampening tube is smooth and tapered and it worked...now on to the parts..good vid's keep it up...
Thanks guys great videos. I have a 2010 dyna wide glide. When i hit bumps it feels very tight like no suspension. Any ideas? Should i upgrade suspension? Thanks
Awesome video thanks for help. I have a question. I have a 1975 fx front end, narrow glide. I switched longer legs to 2 inch under stock. It now leaks from Allen bolt in bottom. I matched to old ones as I had to switch dampners. The old Allen head and copper washer are bigger. So with smaller Allen head and copper washer it leaks. Any ideas great full how to resolve 😎😎😎
If i want to just swap out my lower forks. Can i just leave it on the bike? Remove the lower bolt dust cap and retention spring? I don't plan on rebuilding the forks at this time, just swapping out the lower.
Hey from San Antonio Texas, part 1 you dropped fork, part 2 loosened bolts etc.before dropping fork, might of missed something due to viewing on cell. My question is do I have to loosen bolts or can I just drop em' off?? It's for a 2007 Sportster 1200.
Jose, not sure what videos you seen and what ones you might have missed. However, If I understand the question correctly just loosen and drop the whole fork then disassemble.
I( have a 1986 fltc tour glide classic .it had air ride forks .seals are the same as non air ride .now do all Harley Davidson forks come apart the same way
Great videos guys. Y'all going to Daytona? I will look for you there. Keep up the good work. Good to see some local boys doing this. I'm north of Wilmington. Saw the New River AFB sticker!
Matthew Vega we used a basic cleaner that we got an auto parts store, but really I have heard people using a variety of products. Best thing I could recommend is asking a local bike shop what they use.
Matthew Vega Carb Cleaner, but there is a few to choose from just ask either a local parts or Harley store if you want to double check or use something different
Described simple and to the point, good information. However, the spring force against the top cap is not that of tension, but rather a result of compression... The OCD in me needed to comment on that. My apologies for being critical, I knew what you meant.
Just bought some 8" overs and this video couldn't have been any better. Thanks for your guidance you guys, yall got me back on the road! 🤙🏼

Good refresher...thanks guys
Cleaner: throw it in the parts washer or use brakekleen. Oil the seals before assembly. I prefer a little grease, but oil works, too.

James Gilliam you rightly left the tree pinch bolts until you broke free the top tube nut.
Awesome thanks again
I keep asking how to replace the fork lock on flstni. Iam seeing other bikes. Show me how to change lock on 2005 flstni

Reginald Carroll I️ want to say yes but make do the research and double check everything.
During disassembly Is it okay to unscrew the fork cap and spring last after pulling slider off? Thanks for the great video!

What if the bottom screw won't come out and turns with the spring
well done, nice video
I was curious what did you use to clean the parts?
Matthew Vega we used a basic cleaner that we got an auto parts store, but really I have heard people using a variety of products. Best thing I could recommend is asking a local bike shop what they use.
Carb cleaner or brake cleaner works just fine.
