when u insert the leg back into the triple tree . How do u determine its final resting place when u tighten down the pinch bolts. is there some kind of indicator or does it only allow u to slide it up to a certain point ?
Gary Lorandini Jr. usually you will see an oxidation line but you can measure beforehand. Some people run them higher on the tree as an easy way to lower the front end.
Just so you know there is a video set breaking this entire process down. In case you had other questions. But feel free to hit me up if you have any other questions.
Couple of questions, great video series by the way. What do you use to clean the inner components and two, using the piece of pipe to seat the bushing, how do you know when the bushing is seated far enough? Can you "feel" that or "hear" that it has gone in far enough?
I was wondering the same thing... slightly bigger than the tube but small enough to push the bushing down and then seat the seal. I'll have to measure it and get a couple different sizes. :)
if you are referring to the allen bolt that holds the lower leg on you want to screw it in to get it started and then when the fork is reinserted use the pinch bolts to hold and then hand tighten it all the way down.
Thanks Similar for a FLHTP 1999 ? Had you considered replacing the springs ? I am at 34,000.00 miles Seek input regarding forks refresh... Assumed: Just order new Harley springs and new dust caps and gaskets top to bottom and replace entire assemblies Some consider after market springs🤔 I am inclined to remain stock on this little 88 that is basically stock and in very good condition Anyone ?
I get it, just follow the videos and ask questions. Most local mechanics are good on info. Plus the Harley ones are good as well and will answer your questions.

Is the cap that you don’t want find laying around after for the plunger on both sides or just one?

Great Video... Thank You...
How much fork oil is used when reassembled?
Maybe can use some protection tape to avoid scratches on the upper tube
Just spray the piss outta it with silicone spray. It seems to work for me.
Thanks
