Thank you for showing! I just bought one of these new when I spotted a little stack of them at my local music store here in Northern Sweden. Was surprised at the price. Very affordable, the equivalent of about US $80, including Swedish 25% tax in 2024. You just showed me how to do the most important thing on the instrument, I think, which makes it truly useful.
Your video was a huge help. I was basically using only the simple programmed patterns but I knew there had to be more to it. You probably know this, but when you enter drum pad mode not only the bottom but all the top keys (except the designated pattern key) become drum pads also. Brilliant! Thank you.
Sadly, I have owned this same drum machine for over a year and couldn't figure out how to modify the drum patterns. You have now opened up a whole new world for me! Thank you so much! By the way, your own music sounds excellent.
Thank you thank you thank yew! I'm "technically challenged" and the instructions tied me in a knot! In 5 minutes you cut thru all the BS, and I actually can USE this dude!
I learned by experimenting how to assign the right #2 pedal to fills. A. Turn on unit by holding the on/off button for 3 seconds. B. plug your pedals in the unit. "a" left "b" right 1. Go into "pad mode" press and hold a & b a=pattern b=chain at the same time for 3 seconds and release 2.turn the selector knob to "songs" 3' hold down "b" till blinking then release 4. quick press tap either fill "1" or "2" 5. press and hold "a" & "b" at the same time for 5 seconds then release 6. quick press tap "a" & "b" 7. turn the selector knob to your desired genre and beat number 8. press your left "a" pedal to start the beat. 9. press your right "b" pedal for your fill. That's all I got so far. Instructions suck! Hope it works!
Brilliant!Could you please try and uncover more about operating the trains etc and whatever else you can learn as like you say, there are no really good tutorials on how to operate the different things on this device and the manual is truly confusing.Thanks.
Thanks for the video! Can you provide a walkthrough on how to make a new beat pattern from scratch? (not using a preset). I just want to make a simple pattern to go with a song...and the instructions are useless. Thanks for your time!
That's pretty straight forward to do: 1. While holding down the Pattern play back and Chain playback buttons, turn on the KR mini. 2. When the two playback buttons blink you can let go of them. 3. At this point if you change your mind you can press the Pattern playback button. However, if you want to go ahead with the factory reset you can press the Chain playback button to reset. After the reset both playback buttons will blink rapidly and the KR mini will restart.
Very helpful compared to Korgs instructions that Albert Einstein couldn’t even understand. So... your adding to or editing an existing pattern but is there a way to actually create a new pattern with your own bass drum line? If so damned if I can figure it out.
Hey there thanks so much I can't seem to erase a pattern I have made Is there a simple way the manual doesn't help cause it just doesn't work for me Thanks so much I wish there was a more comprehensive tutorial
How to: Record your own beats So, it is a mess on "how to do it", but bare with me and it gets easier. Go to: USER Press button 1 under "Patterns". Now press and hold button 1 till it just lights up solid. Now tap anything from 1-6 under Patterns or chains. Cool right? Play/ Stop button should light up. Remember the play button will be lit up as well under Patterns. Now hit play under Patterns. First the tempo will play about 8 beats. Then the old drum beat will play at the tempo that is selected for 8 beats. The buttons that light up need to be erased to record your own Supa Beat. While the beat is playing press play/stop under Chains and hold down any one of the items that lights up. Just hold it for 8 bars, and an indication of this is the tempo led will flash a red at the end of the loop. Do this for all of the flashing lights till there are no more. Once cleared now tap in your beat after the red led flashes. I learned it is easiest with the tempo knob turned all the way down and wait after the red led. Now hit stop and then play again. If you like your beat then just hold down the 1 button under Patterns and it will exit and save. If you do not like your beat then simply erase the pieces you don't like by playing the beat, and while holding down play/stop under Chains and erase what flashes. Remember to keep the button of the sound pressed the whole time to erase the whole measure. You can simply erase just one specific beat or sound by just tapping it at the right time. Rinse and repeat for the fill Patterns too. To edit the Fill for any given pattern, you must be in "User" mode, then select a pattern. Now press that pattern say "pattern 1" and simultaneously press the Fill1 or Fill2 and hold down till pattern play button lights up. Now press pattern play and it will keep playing that fill. To erase certain pads hold down the Chain play button and the specific pad and hold till it clears the whole measure and that piece is now gone. Do that for all the pads if you want a clean slate and then drum in your magnificent piece. To save hold down the pad pattern button, and in this case it would be pattern 1 button and then the pattern play button should go from red to off and now it is saved! Now if someone can figure out the Song mode and what it exactly is and what it does that would be good. (I've contacted Korg Support and will post when they reply or give me an answer). To Chain your pattern just hold down button 1 under Chains and all of the chain buttons will light up. Now press 1 from the Patterns. Now press button 2 under Chains, and now select Button 1 from Pattern. To add your fills just press your fill buttons instead of button 1 under Patterns. Okay now press play under Chains. Happy? If so hold Chains button 1 and it will save and exit. To loop 8 times or less: Hold down a chain button. Now turn the knob to Songs/Chains End You'll see the number 8 blinking. That means it's looped 8 times. Now select say 1. It'll loop just once. Or select say 7. To save just hold down the blinking loop button and it's saved. Infinite Loop debunked!!!!!! You must be in USER mode. Now select the chain. Hold down the Chain button for the chain you want to make infinite. Now hold down the Chain play button. You should see Chain 8 button lit if it loops 8 times. Now press that 8 and now it should be unlit. Now press Chain play button to exit. To save hold down the Chain number that you first selected and it will exit, save and now your loop is infinite! Yes I finally had time 3 years later to get back to this!
@@polimorphistNegative, as with Korg, their support is terrible. Instead of "Song mode" It would have been nice to get 6 more user slots. However, you can create your own patterns and save them in User slots. Then chain them to make a song, or chain them infinitely, which I edited the master comment to reflect that.
can we take away parts of the beats like move the snare , the kick to create another beat? or is it just add sound to the beat? i simple can we change the beat
Can it be played like a drum set playing along and recording with tracks on a multi track recorder?I have a Zoom R8 recorder with a built in drum machine but apparently it will not allow playing it like an actual drum set.
How do you get rid of a pattern you don’t want, switch of or record over, I followed as best I could but still comes up with it own pattern Starting to think it’s a load of rubbish. Gav
There's no MIDI interface so I don't think so. However, it does have inputs for start/stop and fill foot pedals so perhaps if one really wanted to those could be hacked in some way to receive a signal from the DAW? But no way to sync to external clock.
I can't get 3 or 6 beats/measure on mine? Can't use amp, it's too noisy. Half the time can't use a headphone, contact is bad. Use an external power supply and that ruins the three dry-cells.
I was wondering, is there a way to change the pack/set/emulation/whatever-it's-called of what is playing, I mean if I like a beat-pattern but not the sound it's making, could I use the rock-mode drum sound for the latin or r&b beats?? I'd probably have to do it your way manually by hand, huh? either way, the more I look this up the more it seem I need this especially for playing along in my room as an in-between-band bedroom bassist, thanks, I'll DL this vid to my phone for easy recall! OH!! one more question, does it have a play-along freeplay function so I could learn beat as it's playing?? that'd be friggin' sweet if it did!!

Great video, looking forward to more from you!
Yes very helpful, ...instead of turning it on and off, if you don't want that pattern how can you erase it and start over to get it right, Thx...
I just overwrite the previously saved "user pattern" with a new pattern using the same exact procedure.

btw when linking through the mixer do you put yours into a mono channel or use a Y splitter cable to go stereo?
I've done it both ways. I haven't used it much recently but I believe I preferred mono especially if I was using pc audio interface for recording.
