- A demonstration of all of the Grudge Match challenge videos in the 1998 PlayStation game, WWF War Zone.
Oh my God, if you ever found late 90s Attitude-era WWF television hokey or far-fetched, wait until you see these! The videos are shown whenever somebody you have already beaten decides that they want to redeem themselves by challenging you. Some of these guys had to have been extremely drunk or stoned given what these came out like, especially given that a few were verging on being totally incoherent. Ahmed, do you need an ambulance? I also love how obvious they are in reading their cue cards.
And yeah, those CG backdrops are totally convincing.
Man, there are some things that I really do miss about the 90s. This type of production is certainly one of them.

I love how, if you turn on auto-captioning, Google doesn't even recognize his rant as speech. There aren't even random guesses or messages of [UNINTELLIGIBLE]. The first subtitle it puts up is "[MUSIC]" after his first video. It's pretty bad when an AI can't even classify your attempts to communicate as human.

Yeah, the controls may have been terrible in this game but the atmosphere was great. I still have nostalgia for it.
Smackdown can exist for 1997 for The Attitude Ruthless Aggression Era with The Set changing that was from 1985 through 1996 after The Golden Age Era ended but let it have Logo Type & Set Type including on Friday Nights during TV 14
This was definitely the Attitude Era and Wrestling Game breakthrough. Promos, Taunts, Hell, Fire, Main Menu elevators, Challenge mode with Grudge/Title matches and Player STSRC's. I still remember how to do all the trademark and finishers. Truth is brotha...I was playing wrestling games since 93/94 but previous games before this were trash.

It's the only timeframe that makes sense.
As Bret Hart and Bulldog were gone by November 97.
Kane had just debuted in Early October 97.
The only problem with that is HHH's aristocrat promos. It's possible they were recorded at different times!

Had WWF Warzone been released in 1997, HBK, HHH and Rocky Maivia would have still been using "Sexy Boy" "Ode to Joy and "Destiny" playing in the background respectively.
Joey Roller actually it was released in the year 1998 so they used the D generation X theme song because both Shawn Michaels and Triple H are a team and The Rock/Rocky Maivia is the leader of the Nation of Domination that's why they play it in the background
What Joey is saying is that the game started development in 1997. The original in house title for the game during development was WWF 97 and it was gonna be more based on the New Generation over the Attitude theme it now has. That's why HHH, HBK, and Rocky's promo's don't really make much sense here especially HHH's. Because when these we're recorded they we're still using their old gimmicks. It was only by the time the game was finished development that they decided to update the characters a little bit so they more closely matched up with their respected gimmicks at the time. So they changed their theme's and taunt's but not much else other then that.
MrVIB113 Actually the development title was WWF 98 but it was indeed moe based closely off of 97 WWF Rather than 98 WWF. You can see this by simply toggling the alternate outfits.
