    Hi, I'm torn between this machine or the Profitec Pro 600 because of the dual boiler. What would you recommend?

    Can the cup rail be removed easily? And if so, what does that bring the machine height to?

      Yes a simple hex bolt on each rail end.

    Nice review. What are the largest-size VST or IMS baskets that will fit in the spouted portafilters of the ECM Mechanika Slim PID machine? Is there an option for a OEM (ECM-made) bottomless portafilter? The only negative from my POV is the wide brew temp variations for the 3 settings - those variations are just too large for a lot of coffees. Very temperature-forgiving coffees would seem almost mandatory (and nice that some of those exist). This alone would be justification to spending $200 more for the next better ECM machine.

      Hey b, There's this ECM angled bottomless PF: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/portafilters-and-filter-baskets/products/ecm-angled-bottomless-portafilter
      It comes with a stock triple basket but any IMS or VST should fit including the newer IMS Big Bang 22-26g: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/ims/products/ims-big-bang-portafilter-basket-22-26g

      @@Wholelattelovepage Thanks! Still interested in what the largest basket the spouted portafilter will accept. Many thanks in advance!

      @@bacca71 You're welcome! For the stock double spouted portafilter max size is a 26mm height for flat bottom baskets such as the 20g rated Baristapro www.wholelattelove.com/products/baristapro-20g-precision-portafilter-basket?variant=19441711874102
      I also tried a curved bottom IMS competition basket probably rated at 22g it's the B702TCh28.5E. The "28.5" is the basket height. That height only works due to the curved bottom profile.
      Hope that helps!

    Why in the world would I want to temp surf on a machine that expensive? Seems crazy to me. I understand it’s a HX but that’s nuts this isn’t a garria classic pro or something 😢

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  7 місяців тому +2

      Hi ian, potential need to flush is typical of HX depending on how long they've been sitting on and idle.

      Every single e61 style group head machine needs a quick flush before making a coffee

    Hey Brian/Mark... a follow-up question: at 05:30 I hear you say 'turn off the timer." Just curious why you're using the scale timer as the unit has a built-in shot timer? Were you weighing your shot, by chance? Thx. (And Brian, congrats on the new family member - hope everyone is doing well).

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  7 місяців тому +3

      Hi s, yes Brian was weighing the shot. The Acaia had the auto timing feature on. Timer on scale starts at 1st drip. The machine's timer starts at pump on. One can use either time and they will of course be different. Keep in mind timing is the most basic way to appraise a shot. And, your timing is relative only to your particular equipment and other variables. Thanks for the congrats - Brian is out for a few weeks but I'll pass along!

      Hey Mark, Thanks for the comment. I'm still here just a little out of the mix with a vacation, week of nasty Covid and a medical procedure. All well now! Here I am in video posted yesterday with more coming soon: ua-cam.com/video/qcVwvJRPLRI/v-deo.html

    Seems obsolete now close to 2025 - can’t control brew temp to the accuracy needed.

    • @RemX405
      @RemX405 21 день тому +1

      That's just every E61/HX machine. Some would say that in order to see a difference in taste you need to make a pretty big change in temp, hence the blunt 3 button switch. In any case, if you really want precise temperature accuracy, you are looking at the wrong type of machine. Dual boiler E61 is a bit better, but fully saturated ring style head is where it's at.
