    For anyone considering this, I want to say that it intimidated me at first, but ended up working out just fine. I was scared by some other guides online that said to remove the entire logic board, but Newertech's suggestion of simply angling it a little is much easier. When I reinstalled the trackpad it was ever so slightly misaligned so I didn't get any haptic feedback. I was scared to death that I screwed up the ribbon cable, but carefully loosening the screws and realigning the trackpad ever so slightly cleared that right up.

    I have not needed to change the battery just yet but I can say this is the absolute 'Best UA-cam Video' I have come across... Thanks in advance... I'll be able to do this with confidence now ;-)

    This video is the best! You don‘t need any other guide. Here are my tips:
    - Always check that you use the right screwdriver
    - Some screws are very tight, apply a bit pressure on the top of the screwdriver for the first turn so you don‘t damage the screw.
    - Use pincers that are flat for flat cables
    - Lifting the logic board is kinda tricky, as in my case it didn‘t want to go as high as in the video, so you might need to lift it a little closer to the battery
    - You can use toothpicks to align the trackpad holes - and you can try to screw all trackpad screws just slightly and after that tighten them crossways so everything is aligned properly.
    - Under the left middle battery is a small white indicator which turns red when it comes in contact with water. I guess apple uses this to see if there was any water damage. Try not to get it wet or remove it if you ever send it to apple no one can claim you had a water damage. Alkohol and Acetone also activates the indicator
    - Use this as a chance to remove dust and grime

    Those of you wondering why take the trackpad out? There are openings exposing the circuitry and if you accidentally touch that while removing the battery, you can damage it. I just replaced mine without removing it because I was wondering the same, if I had to do it again, I’d remove it. Safer.
    Thanks for the video guys.

      there are cutouts in the bottom shell that makes space for some chips on the back side of the trackpad. It is like to make sure you dont some how damage the chips physically when prying out the battery but also these adhesive removers may damage the trackpad as well

      They should, however, it may drain enough before install that it needs a full charge for it to work properly. We would recommend charging it for a few hours and see if that helps.

    If my battery is completely dead and I can’t enter the code into the terminal what should I do? Thank you in advance

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  2 місяці тому

      You would need to charge your battery fully before you can use the battery. We recommend if it is completely dead, to charge for a full day and then see if the computer turns on.

    why is it necessary to completely remove the track pad instead of just unplugging it?

    • @bhutch216
      @bhutch216 6 місяців тому +2

      Because you could accidentally touch the chips or get adhesive remover on it causing the trackpad to short out.

    Was wondering if this worked with macbook pro 2019 A2124 models?

      I am not finding that specific MacBook Pro Model number. However, this will work with both the MacBook Pro 16,1 and 16,4. If you would like to make sure your Mac is one of these, you can check the model identifier:
      1. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left corner
      2. Hold Option key
      3. Click System Information
      4. Second Line Down Under Hardware Overview is the Model Identifier (??)

    Why does apple designed their products to be the least convenient possible

    It is too hard to replace a battery and will have a chance to damage the motherboard. Just give Apple money to replace for you.

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  Рік тому

      This battery upgrade does recommend professional installation due to the difficulty. However, some find they are able to do this on their own. If it is not for you that is okay.

      LOL never go to Apple to get their products repaired unless you wanna spend an arm and leg just for them to tell you to buy the latest model because yours is now considered "unrepairable"
