In Your tests - difference between Kona and Eniaq - is little bit more than an hour, in Latvia - 10-15 minutes :)
Yes, Norway has 150kW (and higher) chargers so they can travel fast. On the other hand you guys in Latvia can drive 200km from the north border to the south border. Without charging.. On the smaller battery size Enyaq..
This comes at exact the right time, I'm looking at an enyaq at work. Still some decisions to be made as i don't have any charging possibilities at home or at work (yet) so have to rely on public chargers at gas stations, parking spots etc. I live in Sweden btw.
Regarding consumption Enyaq vs ID4: The MEB cars have one "issue": if the battery is too cold (i think below 9 degrees?), the car will heat the battery up to 13 degrees. That cost some energy. That makes a comparison between different cars difficult, when it comes to different weather. For example, look at the 2 ID3 that björn tested: We have one where the weather was quite nice with 9-19 degrees and avg 14 and another one where weather was bad with 4-9 and 8.5 avg, in avg 5,5 degrees difference. Ok one of them had a slightly bigger battery, but weight has not a really big difference on the consumption, at least not the couple of kg here. If we look now at the consumption of the both ID3 we see 200 kWh for the one with the good weather and 227 for the one with the bad, so 2,7 kWh more. If we now look at ID4 and Enyaq we see from temp 4-12 avg 8 and 12-14 avg 13, in avg 5 degrees difference. From Consumption we have ID4 251 and Enyaq 231 so 2 kWh difference. So i would say, same weather same consumption, more or less
Yes, but you`re forgeting couple of things... Bjorn starts his test with warm battery! Also, he drives 100km/h+ and charges often... No need for battery heater at all in those conditions... Actually, it needs to cool down the battery more like... Air density, then yes...Colder tires/less pressure - yes...
@@DG-uv3zw Was the battery really warm at start from ID4 1000km trip? And no the battery doest really heat up you see it when he charges and don't get 125 kW. Battery is too cold, only in summer it might be that it needs cooling.
@@DG-uv3zw Ok, i see from both videos in ID4 Test the battery is much colder at start, not really cold but still a difference. Totally agree - would love to see that. I'm also curious whether the iV60 with a heat pump has a similar range to an iV80 without a heat pump. Guess we have to wait until next winter to find out! ( I don't think heat pumps make much difference in the spring or summer?)
Great review as always - I watched some of this live at the weekend. I’m really interested in knowing how much ‘worse’ things are with the iV60 in terms of time to travel 1000km, and how many kms you can get from a full charge. It’s about £7k less than the iV80 in the UK. Also I wonder if putting the heat pump on the iV60 would make it match the range of an iV80 which doesn’t have the heat pump? (in winter )
@iix iixorb yes, I was wondering about that too. Think the heat pump was over £1200 to add to the iV60 but can't decide if it's worth it in the UK. Also, if you set the route on a long journey does it preheat the battery, prior to reaching the charging station... Or is that something only Teslas can do?
Comparing consumption over the 1000km distance would favour ID3 over Enyaq and e-tron. Also Enyaq is more efficient in this sense than e-Tron. So depends what is the main criteria for efficiency, as lower KW total = less power costs.
So obviously weight, and especially in higher speeds aerodynamics, are the main factors when it comes to efficiency. Was just wondering how much software optimisation can help with the power consumption
So looking at your average consuption at 25kwh per 100km, and this is summer, you would need to stop every 300km minimum? That doesn't seem that convienient overall still compared to ICE cars. Good concept though showing the comparisons but the number of charges and time charging should be shown.
Cool video! If there should be some space left in your spreadsheet, would it be possible to insert a column with the number of charging stops executed in the run? Also interesting, if you could derive an empirical value from your tests by how many minutes or percent of time the 1,000 km challenge is extended for every 5 degrees drop in temperature. Then you could calculate a hypothetical value for a standard 1000 km Trip in summer holidays.
Hi Bjørn. How does the Mustang Mach-e compare to the Enyaq? I mean from your reviews the Mustang is obviously less efficient, however the test was done under more winter-like conditions...? Thanks a lot for your reviews! From a fellow northener they are very usefull.
For Range Tests it is really time that the cars get 300 kg added to the passenger area and 100n kg in the boot and a towing pack with a cycle rack on and 3 Mountain Bikes carried, with the heating or cooling set for 4 in the car. Let us know what a Family Car the size of a SUV gets for range if bought and used by a family.
Bjorn, love the Enyaq, and you are so lucky to get to test these vehicles. Yeah, I know it's hard work, but we know you love doing it. Have you seen the new Mercedes-Benz EQT Concept 2021 yet. How many banana boxes do you have for that?
Bjorn, many thanks for your videos. Based on your experience on ID.4, would you recommend an 52 kWh ID.4 to replace an Ioniq 28 kWh? Looking for a sweet spot between space, range and price. Thanks.
@@ungardmaier4536 But ID4 had the more efficient 20" wheels (Enyaq had 21"). So although the weather was a disadvantage, the 20" wheels were an advantige to ID4 compared to Enyaq. So even though the temperature would be the same, but if they would use the same size wheels, the difference in consumption could still be the same. But in any case, the difference in consumption between these two cars is very small.

Comparing consumption over the 1000km distance would favour ID3 over Enyaq and e-tron. Also Enyaq is more efficient in this sense than e-Tron. So depends what is the main criteria for efficiency, as lower KW total = less power costs.
Nice Video for a very underrated car. Can it be ordered with a trailer hitch?
Yes it can. Depending on the engine the max load varies. Only the IV 50 currently doesn't have this option.
I'm really looking forward to how this compares to the Ioniq 5. Which will be better? 🤔
Ioniq 5 is next generation of EVs... This is more like 2016...
Thank you.
Can you do the challenge with the SR+ but in warm weather? The consumption of 218 seems pretty high
How much faster is doing 4 charging stops instead of just 2 longer ones?
Doing longer ones I think is better for the battery
4:55 Aston Martin dB 11
Enyaq has got a new update, making the fastcharging faster. Would you redo the test :)
?
Bjorn Nyland what speed r you travelling at when you do these tests thank Allan
So obviously weight, and especially in higher speeds aerodynamics, are the main factors when it comes to efficiency. Was just wondering how much software optimisation can help with the power consumption
Should try without wing mirrors!
You should write time of charging and level from x% to x%
So looking at your average consuption at 25kwh per 100km, and this is summer, you would need to stop every 300km minimum? That doesn't seem that convienient overall still compared to ICE cars.
Good concept though showing the comparisons but the number of charges and time charging should be shown.
Great video. Which OBD adaptor do you use for EV Notify? I have an Enyaq on order and need to by one.
Great Review 👍
Agree with you! My pet hat are litter Louts!
The Skoda Enyaq looks a quality car 🚗 👌
For Range Tests it is really time that the cars get 300 kg added to the passenger area and 100n kg in the boot and a towing pack with a cycle rack on and 3 Mountain Bikes carried, with the heating or cooling set for 4 in the car. Let us know what a Family Car the size of a SUV gets for range if bought and used by a family.
How would a fully packed car affect the range? Let's say 450 kilograms extra. Four passengers and some luggage for example.
I may have missed it but have you timed a Taycan yet? Love the videos, enjoyable and informative.
I wish VW group would bring the Enyaq to the US. Personally, I find the styling more attractive than the ID4.
Bjorn, love the Enyaq, and you are so lucky to get to test these vehicles. Yeah, I know it's hard work, but we know you love doing it. Have you seen the new Mercedes-Benz EQT Concept 2021 yet. How many banana boxes do you have for that?
Freaking awesome!
Bjorn, many thanks for your videos. Based on your experience on ID.4, would you recommend an 52 kWh ID.4 to replace an Ioniq 28 kWh? Looking for a sweet spot between space, range and price. Thanks.
12-14 degree with enyaq is much better weather than 4-12 with id4
Yep. I assume the battery heater makes most of the 2 kWh difference between Enyaq and ID4.
Same temp would be same consumption more or less.
@@markush1122 That is true but on Enyaq the wheels are the same front and rear while ID4 has a different size at the back, 255 i think.
@@markush1122 there is no real consumption difference between enyaq and id4. Only wether/wind/speed can make some difference between them.
I thought the round Id4 shape is more efficient. But apparently not.
pretty dope car if it came out in the states i drive a leaf
Skoda Engineers famously make the most of their VW/VAG platform products and add great features. There is no better value for money if you can live the badge and hang your head low each time you pass an Audi…
I was wondering if the Teslas charged on Tesla Chargers or anything else. And would this affect the overall journey times in the spreadsheet?
Seems every road you are on is divided, more common in the country there due to winter conditions?
Hei
Whether u will b doing the app review for skoda enyaq also?
224wh/km at 110km/h according to ABRP . Is this the case in real conditions? Is ABRP using official consumption given by car producers or others data ? I ask cause when I simulate trip on ABRP with other EV vs real data of my model 3 I réalise the gap is huge in favor of my model 3.
Is that solar on the roof in a distance at the MER chargers?
