I think the final finish is a little smoother, but they're both fantastic options. If you don't want doming resin at all, try this one from Woodes Goodies: www.woodesgoodies.com/products/clear-uv-resin This resin is best applied in thin coats and won't pull away from the edges of your pieces almost at all.

Yes, though it will be a bit less translucent after baking.
