What comes to mind when I think Dark Souls? Ganking. Tons of heartbreaking but confusing lore (where are Vaati and ENB? Lol) and cosplaying as all of my favorite anime and Final Fantasy characters. Yeah, I'm right there with ya Paragon. The Remaster didn't have enough going for it (not even an attempt at bringing back dual wielding from DS2??) And it does seem like we're being had with all this franchise milking. Have a good one, guys. Praise the Sun!
If I had known about the box set prior to the remastered version of dark souls. I wouldn't have got it considering i don't have the second one. It kinda pisses me off.. 😡
Idk why japan does shit like this, u'd think they wouldn't do this since all they care about is $ so wtf are they doing this? They'd get way more $ if they didn't region lock this shit sometimes i wonder if the ppl in charge are dumb as hell i swear down lol >.>
Michael Arias well there’s a chance. Nintendo was shilling dark souls remastered before it even came out + the solaire amiibo. Also the guest characters from each company consist of 2 fighters. Sega has sonic and bayonetta Capcom has megaman and ryu Konami has snake and simon Square has cloud and probably geno later on Namco has pacman and the only other choice that’d make good sense is a souls character since it’s a popular Namco franchises
Miyazaki: ok the series died, what do we do next? Random dev 1: new series? Random dev 2: remaster Demon's Souls, the game everyone wants to be remastered? Bandai Namco: I got a better idea...
Demon's Souls is never gonna happen, dude, it's a clusterfuck of different publishers involved. While Sony owns the IP, they only own the rights to publish in Japan. Atlus own the publishing rights in America, while Namco/Bandai published it in Europe. I'm not even sure Atlus exists any more...
Atlus made my personal GOTY 2017 - Persona 5. "The Dark Souls series is Bandai Namco Entertainment’s IP, and Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne is Sony Interactive Entertainment’s IP. Hence, the decision to do a remake or remastering is under their jurisdiction. For me and for From Software, I don’t think we’ll be involved with their happening, but it could happen through another developer." From Software president and creator of Souls series Hidetaka Miyazaki
Atlus Japan made Persona 5, Atlus USA was their american publishing sub-division and now seems to be owned by Sega, with their current president also senior vice-president of Sega of America.
"I'm sorry, but I have to vote with my wallet this time" You already did when you bought DS:R (three times.) You voted with your wallet in favor of Bamco milking Dark Souls for all it's worth.
i was thinking the same thing, people like this videos uploader are the sole reason why they are able to still milk these games, because you keep buying them. if you finally say "no" on the fifth or whatever time, it doesnt change the fact that you made this happen. its the same thing with skyrim. they will keep releasing it over and over again as long as it sells.
So you say paying 60$ for what has already come out as a free modification is better than buying several great 20$ indie games or a really good AAA title. Yeah, you can't argue with one's logic when there isn't any.
The thing is, they really didn't start milking it until DS:R came along, so him buying all the games and collectibles doesn't make a hypocrite completely. It's also important for this video to be here because Namco is just greedy as hell, and people need to know about it.
Not so simple. You can not buy things but still be upset that these things are being sold because it damages the image and reputation dark souls has. Sometimes these products can even be manipulative. Additionally, you're able to vote with your wallet on that particular product, but you have no say what happens to the money you give them. For example, this box set is partly supported by the money they got from the remaster. Did the people that wanted to buy the remaster want the boxset? No, not necessarily.
Of course it is, the Remastered was already a good proof of that, but lots of people defended it so hard. Bamco is just milking the everliving shit out of the souls series before From's next game, because they know it will start to lose steam once Sekiro is out. And considering how many people willingly pays for the literally exact same game against (Skyrim, anyone?), they have no reason to not milk it.
You aren't among the group of people I'm referring too then. I'm specifically talking about the people who already owns DS1 or 2 on PS4 or Steam and willingly buys it for a umpteenth time with the trilogy.
i hear that a lot of people already praise Sekiro but lets be honest here, it didnt show us much that Nioh didnt do already, Nioh 2 is its biggest oppenent here.
I don't get what's wrong with a box set. It's just a cheaper way for people who don't own any of the games to get the whole series. It's existence has no downside for anyone else.
Me and my friend were talking about this last night and the biggest question was "Who is this product for?" I could be wrong here, but if you were getting into the series with DaS Remastered then you're just really paying for DS2 & DS3. If you are completely new to Soulsborne you are taking a huge risk jumping in with the trilogy, especially with how polarizing the games can be, you either love them or you play your first Soulsborne for maybe half an hour and then turn it off. Finally is this for hardcore fans? Well they've probably already bought all these games before, so all you are getting is the steelbook case. The question stands, who is this product geared for?
Except what the people crying don't realise is that it's actually cheaper to buy the games separately. PS store sale prices: DS1 Remaster - $39.99 DS2 SOTFS - $9.99 DS3 DDE - $24.99 Granted these are sale prices for DS2 & 3 but I'd expect them to go on sale again at some point either before the release of the trilogy or around Christmas so not too long after. I'd also expect to see DS1 hit ~$20 in a sale sometime soon as well. The only people interested in this trilogy will be people who want the steelbook or morons with more money than sense, that's it.
People bitching about this trilogy set is absolutely eyerolling. If you don't want the trilogy set, then just... don't buy it. I mean, it's that simple. This is such a non-issue. I love gamers, been one my whole life, but god damn are we some of the biggest whiners on the planet.
Lol what has Fortnite done to gaming? I don't care for the game but the only thing I could see that it's done is influence more Battle Royal type games.
megazion34 because for me Dark Souls 3 was the best ending they could’ve made for the lore. If they made another soulsborne style game I’d be excited but I think they should let dark souls end.
I don't really like your point concerning the player count after 3 months. In that time period most people probably got through the game at least once or twice and that's probably the point where most people stop playing the game, since you know, they finished the game.
I always find it so interesting when fanbases turn against the developers or publishers. I guess thats why I follow Destiny news despite not playing destiny or dark souls news despite never playing dark souls, or EA news while refusing to purchase anything from them. It’s always so interesting to see how far you can push fans until they say enough.
I find it more hilarious how ANGRY people get over non-issues. Don't like it than don't buy it. The destiny fan base is its own kettle of fish, I think bungie could make the best game ever and they'd find a flaw with it. I'm curious how the forsaken DLC will be received when it comes out on the 4th, people are hyping it up to be this big game saving DLC that will change everything. The inevitable implosion when they look for something to be pissed off about (that really won't be anything offensive at all) will be great.
SS2LP They took you in a giant circle with a broken engine. They’re arguably the most anti consumer company in gaming history. But, you keep supporting them bro, and feel good about it. Lol.
I assume you're referring to bungie and/or actavision. If you think the engine is broken oh boy, there is WAY worse out there, it could be better but it could be much MUCH worse as for being anti consumer in what regard? Bethesda's Gamebryo was atrocious, I hated making mods for that engine. I just don't buy anything i'm not interested in it would be easier to say blizzard or EA is more anti consumer if anything, heck MMOs are more so than they are even still. Can't tell you how many i've heard of that require you to buy the initial game and then still pay an subscription fee every month, then you even have to buy any extra content they release on top of it, how is bungie the hungry company when there are companies doing that shit? Calling them anti-consumer is really just grasping at straws. The only money you have to spend to enjoy the game as much as anyone else is for the game and its DLC after that its cosmetics you can earn for free, nobody to blame but your own stupid self for paying real money for items that have little to no impact on gameplay.
Sarkastik Pro there’s a difference between a channel that is dedicated to understanding and playing a game compared to a publisher that has no other reason for making a game compilation other than to drain it as much as they can. This isn’t rocket science.
This will add a handful and I mean a small handful of new players across all games for a rough estimate of 1 week in the early areas. Although, I don't understand why the DS remaster when they're going to release a trilogy? If you've never played any of the DS games and I mean any, then this is for you, but if you're buying it for the box, then you're dumb.
They made DS Remaster because they knew the playerbase was gullible enough to buy it then the trilogy. If they announced the trilogy before the remaster, they wouldn't have been able to milk the remaster as hard as they did.
This is like the same video where you said dark souls remastered is a cash grab yet you were going to buy it anyway. Make a video complaining about said situation yet buy it anyway. I almost bet you’ll but it anyway.
What’s the big deal? They are just making their products more accessible to people who haven’t played them yet. No one has to buy them and it’s not like they’re releasing bad games or anything. I just don’t get why milking is such a bad thing.
I have Demons Souls and Dark Souls PTD on PS3. DSR, Scholar, Fire Fades edit of DS3 (and Bloodborne) on PS4 so I won't be buying the trilogy. I'm not bothered by them releasing it though. You said yourself how much it would cost to buy separately so it makes sense for people who don't own any of the games to buy them at the lesser price point. I'm intrigued about the chicken wings though, have to Google that now.
The Japanese Collector's Edition was something I highly desired a few months ago. If only the Collector's book with all the item descriptions and stuff had the option of being translated into English, I would have bought it up. But sadly, we didn't get anything of that quality here in the West. What do we get? We get a steel box with just the games in it... Can't help but feel a little cheated here...
Idk what the problem is, no one is forcing anyone to buy this. There are a ton of people who will be happy to buy a trilogy set, people that never played the souls series. Just because we played the games already, one must realise there are people who didn't have time to play it yet. And yeah From and Bandai will make money from this, which will allow them to make new games like Sekiro better. Srsly someone making money is not a bad thing.
Youre right. But also it is cheaper to buy them seperately. Even including the new ds1 remaster....and only 3 months after its release. Imo the only people this makes sense for is the switch players....which is the only console it isnt coming out for. Honestly I dont see them even recouping the marketting cost on this but maybe im wrong.
The problem isn't making money, but there are things that are more important than making money. In this case, milking a good franchise can leave a bad taste to it, and there is no good reason to taint such a good trilogy.
Milking though? A Dark Souls remaster which many people including me wanted? I enjoyed it cus i couldn't do PvP on my old-gen console. A trilogy set is milking? Its great for newcomers, and it makes sense its like saying putting all three Lord of the Rings movies in one box is milking the LOTR series lol. The problem is that there are die hard fans out there who need to buy everything with the name Dark Souls on it so they feel obliged to buy the trilogy set just to have the steel book. But thats their problem honestly
Josh derp With the Remaster? Yeah it was. I doubt anyone will remember the Remaster, for example in a good light. At best they will forget it existed. But the point right now isn't what has happened de facto, but the pattern being made. It's that kind of situation: if late at night in a bad neighborhood a guy in a hoodie covering most of his face, and the bits that aren't covered don't look friendly, pulls out a gun and approaches you in a menacing way, he still hasn't killed or robbed you yet, but you don't have to wait for it to happen to start running on the opposite direction. Here it's the same thing: we are seeing Namco test out the water and we have reasonable ground to be suspicious. Maybe we are wrong, I hope we are, but that doesn't change anything.
Kacper Mojeścik Many people is highly subjective, specially considering the player base in the remaster edition. "A trilogy set is milking?" I'm not claiming it is, and yes, a trilogy set can be a good thing. But, as I said to the other guy, the problem isn't this isolated case, is the pattern being slowed draw by Namco. The Remaster was, by all means, a cash grab. There is no denying that. It can't even match mods that by now are a few years old, and was still sold as a full priced game. Their intent was clear, and it puts every other action they take in a new light.
You dont know what is going on? In october dark souls will be released on the switch so he needs to grab the attention of this new dark souls players. Then next year he will say again that he is sick of dark souls..
I really hope that Bandai Namco can let the series end with grace. This series ended on a high note, it doesn't need any more continuation in any way. Please Bandai stop beating a dead horse to get a little more noney.
Taylah Taylah Yeah. The internet seems to hate it when people make money. I guess you gotta justify being a medium wage employee instead of a business man.
Yes, most of the people that played DS:R were returning players, and I believe it was made for newcomers and veterans. This however is definitely made for newcomers, now veterans can definitely choose to buy it if they wish to own it, but I think the sales on this one will be a lot more even. In fact my own dad was considering getting into Dark Souls and I would love to get this for him. I agree Bandai Namco is obviously milking the series but is that such a bad thing? They're gonna run out of ways to package and resell the same games and it's not like we're forced to buy any of it.
As a huge fan of Bloodborne which I picked up in June and have severely loved, I was wanting to pick this up as someone who has never played an actual Souls game. So for me, it's a collection i'll be picking up for the first time hoping to be able to get into it and love it as much as I love Bloodborne.
@@TotalNigelFargothDeath I'm actually happy Activision was greedy for once. If they were like Sony or Microsoft we'd have another BloodBorne problem. Nobody likes exclusives, just means less people can play it.
Honestly, I'm really excited for this! I've never played Dark Souls, but I adored Bloodborne and have been looking into slowly buying all the games, starting with DSR. However, with the Trilogy being released, this is a slightly cheaper alternative with a cool book! It welcomes new players like me into the series, and while pricey, is worth it if you've never bought any of the games. So while yes, it's milking the series....they're still playing a decent card and they'll still profit from it a lot.
I don’t understand. I just bought the trilogy because I was always really interested in the franchise (through Bloodborne), but couldn’t see myself buying a $20, $40, $60 dollar games to plate them all + DLC. This is perfect for me.
What this channel has basically become *DARK SOULS IS BAD I HAVE DEPRESSION SORRY FOR NOT UPLOADING DARK SOULS IS TRASH DARK SOULS SHOULD DIE I NEED A BREAK I'M BACK GUYS DO YOU REMEMBER ME*
What is all that flame-talk supposed to serve? Is it supposed to make Paragon feel more motivated? Or do you just have issues? Maybe you should seek help, or talk to a professional about your problems.
+Ev scursus. If you're going to perform sarcasm or irony on internet, in text format, make sure to use some form of indication. Sarcasm and irony are *really* tough to read between the lines in a purely written text, especially since using caps is half of the time connotated with flaming and rage.
ThatDamnScottishGuy No, because it's way cheaper to just milk a game series you have the rights to after the dev studio that made it stopped working for you. Which is exactly what's happening. Oh, and- Dumbass.
Ammi Scholar of the First Sin changed enemy placements and reworked a lot of stuff, adding an alternative ending and so on. It was a pretty great remaster. Thousand times better than what Bandai Namco did with Dark Souls Remastered
I'm with you on this one 80$ is too much just y for a metal book let the new guys have it, but if someone sells just the box on ebay or something at a reasonable price I would get it, maybe...
This is something that can be shrugged off as “they’re a business” and so on but I do understand your dislike for the moves. I’m personally ok with it as long as it’s physical merch.
I think the issue with looking at the steam player numbers and noting how 90 odd percent of people have stopped playing in 3 months is that it's pretty normal and expected. As much as many people love dark souls, the vast majority of its player base, do indeed just play it to complete it and then move on. Most people would complete it within that 3 months.
Am I an idiot for actually wanting this trilogy even though I already have every single game (including the DLCs) on my PS4 ? I mean the packaging looks pretty cool and I consider myself a collector of sorts so I kinda want it on my shelf... :c
Just for the shelving value? I mean if that's your thing go for it. Really it's what capitalism likes for you to do. You were born into a system that encourages unnecessary spending. Don't feel bad. I'm sure your parents were similar as well as your grandparents and possibly even the generation before. It's an on going cycle ensuring we as a society are used as nothing but cash cows to be milked until death. Unfortunately you unknowingly fall for the ploy of marketing schemes meant to grab at people like yourself. Maybe consider that next time you feel down on yourself for buying something
@@TerriblyIronic9 I mean good job on the psycho-analysis but, nah... My parents and grand-parents never were into unnecessary spendings, because they grew up very poor in a rural heavily religious village. My parents hate spending money on stuff they don't need (aka anything that isnt basic needs for a comfortable life), and they never raised me into the "capitalist" life-style you apparently despise :p I just enjoy collecting things I'm passionate about !
Something the fan fix for Dark Souls never could get was a stable 60 FPS at all times. The Remaster runs at 60 FPS at all times. So for me that was a bonus and I played through the game at 60 FPS.
It warrants a re-release if one of two conditions are met: if on consoles if it's a new platform and has improved fps and upgraded graphics. And very rarely if it comes out with new content. A perfect example of the second one is Devil may Cry 3 and 4.
I wish people would shut up about hating DS:R. It is remastered by a company other than Bandai Namco/From Soft and for what it is it’s really good. It was never meant to change anything, hence “remaster” rather than “remake”. You knew what it was going to be from the announcement, but you got your expectations far too high. Also, people who have played and/or streamed DS:R seem to agree that it’s far more reliable than DS Fix.
No we just expected a good Remaster, and don't pretend like it is. The Remaster is about as low effort as can be for a remaster, there are plenty of remasters out there who did a far better job than the poor excuse of a Remaster Bamco released. And Bamco had the nerve to charge most players 40 bucks for a 7 year old game with minimum put into it to the point it qualifies more as a port than a remaster. They were incredibly greedy, and it's because of people like you they can get away with crap like that.
There is a lot of stuff that could've been changed without touching the core game, hence still making it a "remaster" and not a "remake" This remaster is just lazy, deal with it.
@@paratassis9436 only bad thing being they didnt fix PvP or bugs which completely destroyed the game, but other than that, its just a remaster, it looks and runs better the original, and yes it is the definitive way to play the game but its super easy to top it off with another ds1 re-whatever release
@Thertane stajia people title anything as whatever, ive seen people call ds remaster a port, Shadow of the colossus remake a remaster and people calling simple remasters remakes. But this is what it is, just another remaster that was handed to the community, this time however it was the ds community. People were saying at one point they wanted lost izalith to change, i mean seriously? They said from the beginning that it was a remaster, people got so overhyped over this, than when the game released, they were disappointed. What a joke, the community itself killed remastered, "they didnt change anything", of course not
Good for them! In less than 5 years From & Miyazaki made 2 of the greatest games of ALL time. I know artificial outrage is good for clicks, but this is pathetic. This is clearly to tempt newcomers & collectors to fund the next best thing, as in Sekiro. So, how about getting off your high clickbait-y horse & getting some spice in your life, try a book, album, film, or another game that isn't SoulsBorne. You're not obligated to buy any of this shit, so wtf's your problem? So much for no more SoulsBorne vids, and changing your name...
"This is clearly to tempt newcomers & collectors to fund the next best thing, as in Sekiro" What? No it's not, this is literally just milking the shit out of the souls series. Sekiro doesn't need funds because Activision is providing that, not Bamco. And From don't have a single game that is being made in coorporation with Bamco anytime soon, and it's quite likely they won't ever in the future. Maybe you should get off the high horse and just accept Bamco isn't trying to get more funds for future From games and are just milking it. And even if they did have a game they were working together on, Bamco isn't some poor company - they have more than enough money as is to fund any new game.
Zura: like I said you don't have to buy it. There's no cynical inclusion of new content exclusive to this trilogy, so why are you getting apoplectic? Because they want to make some extra cash on something thousands of people worked very hard on?? I know when you live in mom's basement you think all money & corporations are evil, but this is hardly comparable to Skyrim re-releases or the myriad pay to win, day 1 dlc, episodic games out there. From & Bamco, have always given us great value in both quality & quantity when it comes to SoulsBorne. Now compare that with Star Wars Battlefront.
Why are you being such an apologist? You are being naive if you seriously think Bamco is doing this out of anything but greed. Just because EA are a shittier company, it doesn't mean Bamco are saints or any less greedy. And please, this is arguably worse than the Skyrim re-releases, because the Skyrim re-releases for the most part either A) Was for new consoles B) Was given for free to PC owners who already owned it and the DLC C) Bought mods to the console version. What does this trilogy bring? Absolutely nothing. Latest gen consoles already had SoFTS and DS3 available on them, and now they have the Remastered for DS1 too. They are just selling the exact same game that is already available on the consoles again, all the while Bethesda at least had the decency to actually put some effort into making their re-releases of Skyrim (ie better texture/bug fixes)
So, you're angry they want to attract newcomers?? I don't see how you can take such umbrage when you already own all 3 game and all content within it...
I do, I played bloodborne all summer last year, without touching another game. Also skyrim, and breath of the wild, both singleplayer games that I have around 400 hours in each. I have at least 200 in dark souls 3, and 300 in bloodborne. Even then the souls games aren't only single player, they have multiplayer aspects like the PvP and co-op systems implemented. Also yes I know, I don't have a life.
Apparently an anthology collection or something is theoretically problematic due to how many different groups were involved, but considering they're usually sitting in bargain bins for $2, they can't be that pricey..
Dude, this doesn't affect the game and they're not putting a gun against you head. Chill, you only complain because you have no self control, you don't need to buy the game for every plataform or more than once, yet you did, which proves my point.
Are Bandai good at marketing? Or can the growth be attributed almost entirely to the community itself? I've introduced quite a few people to Dark Souls, and I can attest that most of them, if not all, had never heard of the series beforehand.
Once I saw the trailer for the Dark Souls Trilogy I couldn't help but think of the scene from Spaceballs where in a character is peddling Spaceballs merch (lunchboxes, shirts, games, books etc) as a way of making fun of series that get milked for merchandising. It's a bit ridiculous to see Dark Souls go from a niche game to this massive thing that has two to three versions of each game being sold and resold over and over.
I feel like in the remastering process something went wrong and Lautrec became conscious, hacked his way out of his virtual prison and came through a telephone wire into the head of an employee, immediately joining and ranking up the illuminati and preparing a conquest to get even more cash for less service. I paid the 20 bucks to join in what I thought would be a healthy and long-term revival of my favourite game, but all I got was getting gank banged and summon sign flooded for 2 jolly weeks and now the game is as dead as my fire keeper. Is this the Age of Darkness? PRAISE THE SUN and kick Lautrec for me the next time you do another challenge or cosplay run
it's convenient for ppl playing the games far after release, puts more content into their collectible merchandise which increases the longevity of the franchise, and it lets them measure the amount of interest there is in the franchise quantitatively- getting annoyed about them making a bundle release reduces the chances of a DS4, which could be successful (and warranted) in 5 years or so- maybe longer.
The female told me about this, fishing for Xmas ideas, and I said the exact same thing. The reason I'm upset is because Japan got that awesome anthology collector's edition at the same time as Remastered and we didn't get anything. They knew full well that there was interest in an anthology, in the West, and they missed their window entirely. Hell, there's basically zero hype, even, for the Switch version, at this point. I'm not even excited for Sekiro because I know full well that Activision will find a way to ruin it. Ghost of Tsushima is my big hype game for 2019.
Is not the RE-Release... is the simplicity and how those "whole editions" are not for everyone in the first place. If we had a "full of nice things" collectors edition like one Japan got... then we probably keep a happy face on it. EVEN WHEN, some of us don't play the console versions and the box set came only for home consoles. Same shit happen with the remake of METROID II for the Nintendo DS. Japan and Europe got a beautiful set of stuff, and the US got 2 amiibos that we had to purchase if we want them. This shit is gonna keep happening. There are things that we agree to purchase not only because we are the meta-consumer for a certain product, but also because they seem fair for the money we put on it. Companies forget to keep one of the most valuable rules and is "not to make the customer feel like an idiot for buying your stuff"
6:20 but think about this my man: smelter hammer chicken with black colored breading and orange wing sauce. Get the "power stance" combo with 2 wings, a pancake, and a bottle of sunkist.
One reason for sales of "Dark Souls: Remastered" being higher on XBOX-ONE could be due to the fact that most of the players that really liked the game were PS3 owners & they might have been a bit burnt out from playing the game by the time the remaster came out for PS4. What we should be wondering is....what is Bluepoint working on? "Demon's Souls"? I don't consider that game bigger than "Shadow Of The Colossus", but I could be wrong. I'm still hoping it's "ICO". Yes I will buy the trilogy collection. Got to have that steel book. LOL
I really think they should make a dark souls 4 (or a dark souls 0) dark souls 4 being the thing that we were warned about in multiple occasions but never experienced, that being the abyss rising again. dark souls 0 being manus (before he became a monster that is) bringing someone from the future back in time (because he can do that apparently) and having him help the furtive pygmy against the other lords (add the everlasting dragons to the mix and you have a three-way war on your hands).
I think that this is more for newer players. Dark Souls Remastered was marketed as a remaster, thus people who already played the game wanted to play the prettier version of Dark Souls. This collectors set is marketed as a re-release for less money. Sure, you get a cool collectors box out of it, but I don't think that it's realistic to think that a few hundred thousand to over a million people who has already bought and played all of the games will buy an 80 dollar dust collector.
I really don't have a problem with DSR or the box set. I'm glad to see Dark Souls on the newer platforms and I feel like it's understandable to sell a box set of all three games at a discounted price. I feel like it's for two types of people: newbies who want to get into the games, either having never played them or have played one and want the rest (as the three games are still cheaper than buying two individually), and people who have them on one platform but want to play them on another. It doesn't seem like a collector's item, as it's just the games, and at the given price I wouldn't expect it to come with anymore. I personally won't be buying it, as I already have all three on my ps4, but it's a good deal for those that I have mentioned imo.
I've been saying this since the 2nd dark souls. The following list is a comprehensive paylist of the last 3 dark souls games, in the order they were released, (Note, each one is a full purchase, and do not qualify for Discounts.) Dark souls. 60$ Dark souls Artorias of the Abyss DLC. 15$ Dark souls Artorias of the Abyss Release for PC. 60$ Dark souls 2. 60$ Dark souls 2 Crown of the sunken King. 10$ Dark souls 2 Crown of the Old Iron King. 10$ Dark souls 2 Crown of the Ivory King. 10$ Dark souls 2 Scholar of the first sin. (which has roughly 5% more content, a slight graphics overhaul which was neutered from the E3 release, and all 3 dlc's) 30$ Dark souls 3. 60$ Dark souls 3. Ashes of Ariandel 25$ Dark souls 3. The Ringed City 16$ Dark souls 1 Remastered. (Which is 0% more content, a slight graphics overhaul which altered only about 70% of the game's textures, and failed to fix even 1/8 of the 2011's faults) 40$ Dark souls The Trilogy. containing all of what you see above. 80$ Not counting demon souls, nor bloodborne, if you've stayed with this series, that equates to a total of. 476$ plus tax, which equates to roughly 500$ for 3 games.
Whats wrong with a trilogy that is a collection of all games. Better way for new gamers for the series, and as for myself who is a "oldschool gamer" who likes steelbook edition and all that kind of stuff its amazing.. Especially when i havent played the third one yet. Sadly, doesnt matter since i live in Europe.
the trilogy collection was big slap on my face, were they not considered thay we would have choose to just buy the collection instead of the first remastered first?
I think it's kind of poetic that namco keeps reviving the franchise far past it's expiration date, just for it to become lesser and lesser each time, hopefully it fades soon
I agree. And I’ll duct tape my DeS-DSR-DSOTFS-DSIII boxes together and make my own “box” set. This is ridiculous for consumers... but honestly... as a business they struck well on success but also potentially ruining their brand at the same time. Is the price worth it? I don’t think so.
This release is actually really convenient for someone like me, who just got into the series, wants all of the games and doesn't have them yet. For me, this is a fantastic deal, buying all 3 games, plus the DLC would otherwise be much more expensive. I don't understand why you wouldn't think of someone in my position.
It's like Bethesda constantly releasing new versions of Skyrim. I can only imagine what they will do with ES:6. At least FromSoftware hasn't remastered Demon's Souls... yet.
I like how From has no mention of this on their twitter or IG. From and Bandai are definitely beefing, and Bandai is trying to cope by making this and Code Vein
Much as I love DS, I'm glad the series has run its course, and FROM are busy elsewhere now. Sekiro looks awesome, and while it will inevitably disappoint anyone asking for more traditional Soulsborne content, it's a step forward rather than sideways for Miyazaki and the gang again. Anything DS-related is now on Bamco.
Bandai really needs to just learn how to appeal to more than 1 audience. New players and veterans of Souls are both just as important as one another. They rely on each other to keep the game and it's community alive.
I don't think it's a bad thing to make a Dark Souls 4, especially if it's more of an alternative universe or "side story" without making the ending of 3 feel less important. But I do think it's not a good idea to make it right away if it's gonna make it seem less good. 5 years later, then they make it then I would like to play a new Dark Souls game.
Dark Souls hardcore fans be like: My series' is finally breaking out of a niche and has hit the wider audience and is getting the full recognition it deserved but no, ITS BEING MILKED!!!!!
a pc version of the trilogy most likely isn't being made because most people on pc buy games digitally. they won't get many sales if they make a pc steelbook, especially if they have the games on steam already.
as a serious question: why does it matter there's no PC release? I mean, what the hell are PC users going to do with a physical copy of the game? most gamers these days don't even have an optical drive and the majority of PC cases have omitted the 5.25" bay all together. what on earth would I need yet another digital copy of the games for anyways? (there's 5 in my steam library already FFS)
The only reason why I would buy the steel book, is because I never bought a hard copy of DS1 or 2. Doesn't mean I'd be happy paying that price and I would rather that Japanese version. But I want to own the hard copies, so if I'm going to buy them anyway, I may aswell have a cool looking steel book
It being for new comers doesn't make a ton of sense because who's gonna spend 80 dollars on a box set of a series they don't know if they'll like or not
I predicted a trilogy box set before 3 was even announced. And honeslty, I was (and still am) looking forward to it. I was really happy to see that all three games were going to be on the same console (ps4) so that i can show the series to people who dont have a ps3
I've been playing dark souls since I was 15 or 16, I'm 21 now, I've done my runs, I've done my builds, I've bought the games twice on both pc and xbox (except for 3), I've experienced my fair share of joy and bullshit from this game and the ever shifting community as a whole. After the Ringed City dlc came out and I finished it, I put down the controller and knew that I've done everything this franchise had to offer me, there's really wasn't anything left to do. In all honesty I love From Software for what they gifted us, but you just gotta realise they're not pertaining to fans remotely, when they did announced the remaster (take into consideration I was done with the series as by then), I just knew it wasn't for the die hards, the true fans of the community had been forgotten, if they really wanted to reach out to us, it would've been a remake. But they need to make money off of an already dead series and bring in people who'd look up a guide faster than actually experiencing it. The Souls series is long dead now, look at Marcus (Epic Name Bro), he doesn't do ANYTHING related to From Software anymore and he and a good few others were the go to's for Souls content, and barely any souls content is being created these days. All I can do now is really just remind myself how much fun I had with the series and all the things that came with it. Besides I don't even have the time to invest in a dual wield dex build anymore. R I P DKS
I think releasing a trilogy does make a lot of sense because of the recent surge in Bloodborne's popularity when they made it free on PS4. A lot of those new players are going to be moving on to Dark Souls afterwards, and it'll be good for those new players to be able to acquire all three Dark Souls games at a good price point. I do think it's scummy to release DSR just a couple months before the trilogy, though. There are probably some people who bought DSR but would have bought the trilogy if they knew it was going to come out so soon, and that's pretty shitty.

Dark Souls is quickly becoming Skyrim.

Michael Arias well there’s a chance. Nintendo was shilling dark souls remastered before it even came out + the solaire amiibo.
Also the guest characters from each company consist of 2 fighters.
Sega has sonic and bayonetta
Capcom has megaman and ryu
Konami has snake and simon

It's a metaphor for the actual lore. As the playerbase fades, Bandai Namco must emerge with a champion to re-link the fire.

Miyazaki: ok the series died, what do we do next?
Random dev 1: new series?
Random dev 2: remaster Demon's Souls, the game everyone wants to be remastered?
Bandai Namco: I got a better idea...
Sad thing is they cant remaster Demon's Souls.... its up to Sony. Like Bloodborne. FROM made the games. But theyre sonys property...
Sony should make a proper remake of DeS with BluePoint
For me and for From Software, I don’t think we’ll be involved with their happening, but it could happen through another developer."
From Software president and creator of Souls series Hidetaka Miyazaki
Atlus Japan made Persona 5, Atlus USA was their american publishing sub-division and now seems to be owned by Sega, with their current president also senior vice-president of Sega of America.

"I'm sorry, but I have to vote with my wallet this time"
You already did when you bought DS:R (three times.) You voted with your wallet in favor of Bamco milking Dark Souls for all it's worth.
i was thinking the same thing, people like this videos uploader are the sole reason why they are able to still milk these games, because you keep buying them. if you finally say "no" on the fifth or whatever time, it doesnt change the fact that you made this happen. its the same thing with skyrim. they will keep releasing it over and over again as long as it sells.
@Josh derp lol however he bought destiny 2...
So you say paying 60$ for what has already come out as a free modification is better than buying several great 20$ indie games or a really good AAA title. Yeah, you can't argue with one's logic when there isn't any.
Complains about dark souls being milked, buys everything they sell
same tho
Someone’s got to take the L for us
This is paragon and this will be my last video about dark souls...
Tbf, Skyrim at least came with mods. At least on consoles.
Angra Mainyu And a free remastered edition for those who already bought the legendary edition Edit: at least in PC
Well fuck you, i always wanted to play ds1 but i didnt have a ps3. Same for ds2.
Lloyf Irvind that gets less views than shitting on it.
PS store sale prices:
DS1 Remaster - $39.99
DS2 SOTFS - $9.99
DS3 DDE - $24.99
Granted these are sale prices for DS2 & 3 but I'd expect them to go on sale again at some point either before the release of the trilogy or around Christmas so not too long after.
@@leifanderson3487 cheaper to get it separately and Dsr doesn't warrant a big price tag tbh not to mention the trilogy set is not even in EU

Eekblorg Destroyer of Worlds don’t? Why?

why?
Angra Mainyu didn’t say that they had to release the game next fuckin year lmfao
I don't really like your point concerning the player count after 3 months. In that time period most people probably got through the game at least once or twice and that's probably the point where most people stop playing the game, since you know, they finished the game.
Why does ds2 sotfs still have more players then?
I always find it so interesting when fanbases turn against the developers or publishers. I guess thats why I follow Destiny news despite not playing destiny or dark souls news despite never playing dark souls, or EA news while refusing to purchase anything from them. It’s always so interesting to see how far you can push fans until they say enough.
Yaboydarrell I too cringe watch Destiny news. Lol.
Same, its fun watching people being put to these kinds of test
Your channel milks dark souls more than from/namco
Cubic Man he really believes that the trilogy box set is for souls vets and not new comers lol
Sarkastik Pro there’s a difference between a channel that is dedicated to understanding and playing a game compared to a publisher that has no other reason for making a game compilation other than to drain it as much as they can. This isn’t rocket science.
Rev AK thank god We have someone here to clear up the difference between my opinion & rocket science
Rev AK 6 out of 9 recent videos are about dark souls. Sure not milking
Sarkastik Pro you seem to like American football. Do you think the NFL is milking football when they post more than 2 videos about it??
This will add a handful and I mean a small handful of new players across all games for a rough estimate of 1 week in the early areas. Although, I don't understand why the DS remaster when they're going to release a trilogy?
If you've never played any of the DS games and I mean any, then this is for you, but if you're buying it for the box, then you're dumb.
They made DS Remaster because they knew the playerbase was gullible enough to buy it then the trilogy. If they announced the trilogy before the remaster, they wouldn't have been able to milk the remaster as hard as they did.
Also, shouldn't the trilogy be release on the same day as the Dark Souls Remastered?
DS3 goes for $10 so that is the starting point into the series now not DS remastered not DS trilogy.
Thats entirely consumers fault for being retarded weaboos eager to suck Japanese dick at the drop of a hat.
I wish they woulda just released scholar on ps4 and stop playing games.
This is like the same video where you said dark souls remastered is a cash grab yet you were going to buy it anyway. Make a video complaining about said situation yet buy it anyway. I almost bet you’ll but it anyway.
Josh derp WHAT!! RED DEAD REDEMPTION TWO WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU SJRJENS FNAOXJENKAODNENSJSJRBWHAIFBEJSJF JEJWIAOZKND
What’s the big deal? They are just making their products more accessible to people who haven’t played them yet. No one has to buy them and it’s not like they’re releasing bad games or anything. I just don’t get why milking is such a bad thing.
If Dark Souls 2 sotfs goes on the Switch, I am buying it *immediately.*
Pewdiepie did that challenge, look it up
The Japanese Collector's Edition was something I highly desired a few months ago.
"A trilogy set is milking?"
I'm not claiming it is, and yes, a trilogy set can be a good thing.
Wait you're still talking about dark souls, and you changed your name back. What's going on?
He regretted making that video or something
You dont know what is going on? In october dark souls will be released on the switch so he needs to grab the attention of this new dark souls players. Then next year he will say again that he is sick of dark souls..
ONshowON I never thought of that
I really hope that Bandai Namco can let the series end with grace. This series ended on a high note, it doesn't need any more continuation in any way. Please Bandai stop beating a dead horse to get a little more noney.
They're not pulling a gears of war here. They aren't making dark souls 4.
They're gonna run out of ways to package and resell the same games and it's not like we're forced to buy any of it.

simple answer: the boxset isn't for anyone in particular. it's only for the people who will throw their wallet at anything dark souls related
Or for people that already don't have the 3 games.

ur mom gay thats all on Sony. Not bandai. Unfortunately.
The remaster was so shitty it looked worse then a community mod from like 5 years ago lul😂
There is a lot of stuff that could've been changed without touching the core game, hence still making it a "remaster" and not a "remake"
This remaster is just lazy, deal with it.
What a joke, the community itself killed remastered, "they didnt change anything", of course not
How do I enter the Dark Souls loot box giveaway again?
TFW people didn't realise this when Dark Souls 2 became a thing
It was never meant to be more than 1 game, just like BB and Demons are.
Funny enough that's a topic I'm going to cover soon :)
If only BamCo didn't get greedy.
Can't wait to see what Code Vein ends up as in 10 games aha
Braidz MC I want there to be a remake of Demon’s Souls with improve everything including the 6th archstone. I would trade my soul for that.
TFW people didn't realize this when they released an incomplete game and made you pay for the full game with DLC in AoTA
They even had a Sunlight Medal? By god, I did not even know that.
No kidding. Guess non-soulsborne vids didnt get as many views.
"This is clearly to tempt newcomers & collectors to fund the next best thing, as in Sekiro"
What?
And please, this is arguably worse than the Skyrim re-releases, because the Skyrim re-releases for the most part either
A) Was for new consoles
B) Was given for free to PC owners who already owned it and the DLC
C) Bought mods to the console version.
When are they gonna make a Dynasty Warriors-esque Dark Souls game where you play as the Four Knights of Gwyn and other gods? C’mon, make this a thing.
It’s a singleplayer game. Of course the playerbase will drop. Who plays a sp game for three months?
On average 13,000 people play Dark Souls 3 on PC every day to this day.
> Calling Dark Souls a singleplayer game
Even while you're offline it technically isn't.
Stop being shortsighted, dear. :(
Me
I do, I played bloodborne all summer last year, without touching another game.
>B-but it's singleplayer!!
Kid DS is way more multiplayer centered than you might think...
...and still sitting here waiting for an Armored Core collection...
Or just an Armored Core game in general. It's been about 5 years since the last one which is absurd. Us Armored Core fans are suffering.
I JUST WANT A MASTER OF ARENA REMAKE
Apparently an anthology collection or something is theoretically problematic due to how many different groups were involved, but considering they're usually sitting in bargain bins for $2, they can't be that pricey..
Right? I want to see how Kongoki powers his wooden AC in HD dang it!
Dude, this doesn't affect the game and they're not putting a gun against you head. Chill, you only complain because you have no self control, you don't need to buy the game for every plataform or more than once, yet you did, which proves my point.
Not complaining won't get him views though.
Would you like it if your favourite franchise got shit on and milked to death?
PRAISE THE SUN and kick Lautrec for me the next time you do another challenge or cosplay run
it's convenient for ppl playing the games far after release, puts more content into their collectible merchandise which increases the longevity of the franchise, and it lets them measure the amount of interest there is in the franchise quantitatively- getting annoyed about them making a bundle release reduces the chances of a DS4, which could be successful (and warranted) in 5 years or so- maybe longer.
i think the steel box set would be good to give as a birthday present so a friend who you'd like to play with that hasnt experienced these games yet
Last I hear, ParagonDS was dropping the DS and not doing anymore Dark Souls content. Did he change his mind? I don’t care either way. Just confused.
LOL
I really think they should make a dark souls 4 (or a dark souls 0)
dark souls 4 being the thing that we were warned about in multiple occasions but never experienced, that being the abyss rising again.
dark souls 0 being manus (before he became a monster that is) bringing someone from the future back in time (because he can do that apparently) and having him help the furtive pygmy against the other lords (add the everlasting dragons to the mix and you have a three-way war on your hands).
I personally won't be buying it, as I already have all three on my ps4, but it's a good deal for those that I have mentioned imo.
wait.. it is for 80?? I was thinking it will go for max 30 and US only... nope, not even thinking about it
I've been saying this since the 2nd dark souls.
The following list is a comprehensive paylist of the last 3 dark souls games, in the order they were released, (Note, each one is a full purchase, and do not qualify for Discounts.)
Dark souls. 60$
Dark souls Artorias of the Abyss DLC. 15$
Dark souls Artorias of the Abyss Release for PC. 60$
Dark souls 2. 60$
Dark souls 2 Crown of the sunken King. 10$
Dark souls 2 Crown of the Old Iron King. 10$
Dark souls 2 Crown of the Ivory King. 10$
Dark souls 2 Scholar of the first sin. (which has roughly 5% more content, a slight graphics overhaul which was neutered from the E3 release, and all 3 dlc's) 30$
Dark souls 3. 60$
Dark souls 3. Ashes of Ariandel 25$
Dark souls 3. The Ringed City 16$
Dark souls 1 Remastered. (Which is 0% more content, a slight graphics overhaul which altered only about 70% of the game's textures, and failed to fix even 1/8 of the 2011's faults) 40$
Dark souls The Trilogy. containing all of what you see above. 80$
Not counting demon souls, nor bloodborne, if you've stayed with this series, that equates to a total of.
That feeling when they re-re-rerelease all three games but Demon’s Souls still hasn’t been remastered...
the trilogy collection was big slap on my face, were they not considered thay we would have choose to just buy the collection instead of the first remastered first?
I think it's kind of poetic that namco keeps reviving the franchise far past it's expiration date, just for it to become lesser and lesser each time, hopefully it fades soon
I agree. And I’ll duct tape my DeS-DSR-DSOTFS-DSIII boxes together and make my own “box” set.
This is ridiculous for consumers... but honestly... as a business they struck well on success but also potentially ruining their brand at the same time. Is the price worth it? I don’t think so.
so bandai namco is basically gwyn clinging to the age of fire?
This release is actually really convenient for someone like me, who just got into the series, wants all of the games and doesn't have them yet. For me, this is a fantastic deal, buying all 3 games, plus the DLC would otherwise be much more expensive. I don't understand why you wouldn't think of someone in my position.
It's like Bethesda constantly releasing new versions of Skyrim. I can only imagine what they will do with ES:6.
At least FromSoftware hasn't remastered Demon's Souls... yet.
I believe the phrase goes a little something like... *_"No shit, Sherlock"_*
I don't own any of the games, except for DS2: SotFS on the PS3. Getting all 3 games + DLC for $80 on the PS4 sounds like a good deal.
What does it come to my mind when i hear dark souls? Perfection
Bandai Namco is the Dark Souls of game publishers
as a serious question: why does it matter there's no PC release?
I mean, what the hell are PC users going to do with a physical copy of the game? most gamers these days don't even have an optical drive and the majority of PC cases have omitted the 5.25" bay all together.
what on earth would I need yet another digital copy of the games for anyways? (there's 5 in my steam library already FFS)
Fame really is a curse, I genuinely fear for Sekiro because it's in a no-win situation.
Still waiting on that hecking Solaire Amiibo I pre-ordered at Gamestop when Remastered came out.
They'll stop milking it when you fuckers stop buying it. Its that simple.
What next? Dark Souls : dancing all night?
