And why it is to be burned and replaced with a new one if it does. I lived in an apartment complex that flew the flag at the office building and it fell on the ground. I went in to ask the manager what she was going to do with the flag and she said put it back up. I was a little surprised that a 29 year old never heard of why it must be burned. She refused to burn it and put it back up. ignorant and disrespectful.

Not if someone disagrees, which is actually the most American thing about flag burning pieces of crap. Too bad it's the only American thing about those people.

Yes I am against those people. Do I think the demonstrations and violence of the 1960s-70s rectified problems in America. This we agree on. Obviously not. Nothing disrespected the American Flag as much as the rioters at the Nation's Capital beating policemen with the American flag. Why is it difficult to acknowledge what is reality? America is a nation of many diverse peoples and what makes all American is the mutual respect and patriotism for the nation's symbols and institutions. Verdad? (Spanish for true or truth).
@@dennisstafford1749 do you honestly think that I condone the actions of the people you're calling out? Liberals keep saying insurrection... yet not a shot was fired. Do you think conservatives or violent people? As though conservative people aren't straight out of the womb all about Justice? Is it really a Nazi slogan to say all lives matter? The point you make about inquiries into the violence... the funniest thing about that is, Republicans didn't reject the 9/11 style Commission until after Democrats rejected investigations into the year-long rioting before this so-called insurrection. And while I would agree that the sixties and seventies didn't solve the problems to a conclusion, what it did do is make it much more equal than people would give it credit for today. Because of the 60s and 70s oh, we now have black CEOs, black millionaires, affirmative action (which is racist in and of itself), black Scholars and historians... quite literally minorities today have it way better than pre-1960. How is that anything close to deniable? That list goes on and on. You can name every atrocity from our culture in America from now until the sun goes down... but the place those actions on one group is ignorance on a scale I've never seen. And your last point I completely agree on... America has a lot of different people, a lot of different culture, and it's been that way since the beginning. The only place I would defer, is your comment about mutual respect... that's where liberals fail. By definition, liberals aren't very liberal.

When you have angry parents upset at school board members, teachers, and administrators about STATE/NATIONAL given curriculums, what can be taught? What can we teach? No matter what it is, it's like they don't really want kids to learn anything. Even when it's factual truth, parents will still shy their kids away from the truth. I don't get it. At some point we can't dictate and make decisions for them forever.
The reason that our national anthem is sang at all of our sporting events is to REMEMBER all those who died fighting for our country, that is why we STAND, face the flag, place our right hand over our heart, or salute, it is to never forget the very heavy price that has so far been paid for our freedom, we stand and face the flag because they no longer can!
So many use our flag as a tool in their politics. Our flag is a symbol of the price that was paid for us to have the freedoms that we have. It is a symbol and trophy of respect to those that have given all to pay for that freedom. Kneeling or desecrating our flag is and always will be wrong. There is no cause that warrants the disrespect of our flag. Our flag is not a symbol of the government. It is the symbol of our people and our ancestors who gave us this freedom and for those who continue to fight for these freedoms.

Personally I seldom tear up or say, cry, but this anthem and our flag will bring a tear to my eye. For it’s not a symbol of patriotism I see, it’s the love behind it.
Hi Ruky, I just want to thank you for your genuine thoughts and your efforts to promote this Star Spangled Banner video to the world of you tube. I've watched this video multiple times and each time I said to myself that I won't get emotional this time (I have lied every time, the waterworks still persist). I come from an Old & Honorable Family, my 9th Great-grandfather (Thomas "The Immigrant" Blodgett) arrived in America with his wife-Susanne and 2 sons; Daniel-4 yrs. & Samuel 1 1/2 yrs. from London, England in 1635 (just 15 yrs. after the Mayflower arrived. Thomas "The Immigrant" Blodgett is the Founder of the entire Blodgett Family in America. There were well over 100 Blodgett family members that fought in the American Revolutionary War itself, and we fought in every war or conflict that America has ever been involved in since. In fact, during the Revolutionary war my 4th & 5th Great-grandfather (yes, they were father & son) Samuel, 4th G-gf and Asa, 5th G-gf were captured by both, the British and the Indians who were fighting together against the Colonials. They put a rope around Asa's neck then tied the other end around a tree branch while he was standing on stump and left him there for a very ,very long time. His son Samuel was tied to a post and was going to be burned alive. After an undisclosed amount of time had pasted and their fate was nearly upon them, and by some means, perhaps the markings of a tattoo, or a piece of jewelry etc. the British Officer was able to identify them as members of the Free Mason Society (a World Wide Society) of which the British Officer was a member as well. So, he decided not to kill them but, to keep them as prisoners and work them as slaves on their ships for months until they later escaped. Had Samuel perished, I would not be sharing this story with you, and I would never had discovered that I am also a 2nd Cousin 8x removed to President George Washington. I am in the closing stages of becoming Member of the Sons of the American Revolution and even the S.A.R. Pledge chokes me up when I recite it. S.A.R. Pledge; "We, descendants of the heroes of the American Revolution who, by their sacrifices, established the United States of America, reaffirm our faith in the principles of liberty and our Constitutional Republic, and solemnly pledge ourselves to defend them against every foe". I am so proud to be an American. I wish for world peace, after all, we are all brothers & sisters in the eyes of GOD.
Why does it touch your heart? Because the plight for liberty isn't about being American. It's about being human. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for reminding us.

@@parsifal40002 No problem. Not any fault of yours either. This country and its school system etc is terrible at making sure our own history is taught properly. This is a small list of corrected information I saw as wrong in the video...not complete but gives a better view of what actually happened. 1. First of all this took place during the War of 1812. Specifically on Sept. 13th 1814, they were STATES, NOT Colonies. 2. The American government did NOT ask Key to go negotiate for prisoners. He went with the main goal being to go talk about freeing his friend, Dr. William Beanes. 3. He did not go by raft, he sailed out to the fleet on an American Sloop under a flag of truce, which during the bombardment was being towed behind a British ship and from that Sloop is where Key watched the fight. So he could NOT have been calling down to or talking to prisoners. 4. The forts name is Fort McHenry NOT Fort Henry and it WAS a primary military fort built to protect Baltimore and the Harbor. There were very few if any women and children in that fort during the battle. It started being built in 1798 and was finished in 1800. 5. It was NOT the entire British war fleet but only around 19 ships including The Congreve rocket ship HMS Erebus, mortar vessels HMS Terror, HMS Volcano, HMS Meteor, HMS Devastation, and HMS Aetna and the rest being larger warships like the HMS Surprise and other 38 gun frigates etc. 6. The flag NEVER fell during the battle. In fact there were two flags flown during the fight. First was the larger 30ftx42ft Garrison flag made of wool. Then as it started to rain Major George Armistead the fort commander ordered the larger flag to be taken down and a smaller 17ftx25ft Storm flag, both made by Mary Pickersgill, to be raised over the fort. 7. Patriots bodies did NOT hold that flag up as claimed. Casualties during the fight were very light with only 4 Americans being killed and 24 being wounded. Around 300 British were killed during this. Of those 300 British killed most were from a land force the British landed to attack the city of Baltimore but they got spotted by Fort Covington and Fort Babcock and were fired upon forcing them to withdraw.
Um? Well the actual battle should be made into a movie. Of which there have been many documentaries. And the war of 1812 has a few movies, nothing too big or anything.
The anthem is a poem written by Mr Key, giving a blow by blow account of what happened during that battle. It wasn't set to music to become our anthem till 100 yrs later. We, as American citizens are proud of our flag because she is our symbol for what we hold most dear, FREEDOM. We stand for her out of respect for what she stands for and for all if those who have died to protect us 🇺🇸 . Other countries misinterpret our pride for arrogance. I understand that. We, for the most part, are not that. We are proud because we know and cherish what it means and takes to be free.
I served for 27 years under this flag and I will be buried under it. There are only two songs that make me emotional, The Star Spangled Banner and Taps. I was very taken with your reaction. Semper Fi.
As an American, I still get teary eyed when singing our National Anthem. Being much older and living in MD. we were taught the background to the anthem. While in school I still remember taking a field trip to Mt. Olive Cemetry in MD, where he is buried. They have a monument to him along with the words to the National Anthem. The cemetery is in Frederick, MD about 40 miles or so from Baltimore. and about 51 miles from the fort which is actually named Fort McHenry.

The story is mostly fiction. It doesn't mean the flag itself or the fort or the war or the star spangled banner isn't real. I mean shit man this story is full of obvious historical inaccuracies and didn't even get or try to get basic facts right like the name of the fort in typical right-winger bullshit fashion, and it's not even clear that the narrator understands the difference between the war for independence and the war of 1812. The story was crafted by a church for religious purposes, one can find who or what is behind it, but it's easy to see it's more religious propaganda than an accurate recounting.

I think this video touched so much because it was people willing to die for freedom, for the freedom to live how they chose and that is something anyone can appreciate

Why would people who do that care if they disrespect our nation's heroes all they care about is to stay relevant whether they believe in something or not and how many $ they can make
It is more disrespectful to treat any American as less than human. The song commemorates fighting for our freedom. Many ethnicities have fought for it. Kneeling before the flag is not disrespectful, it is an homage to those that have been murdered at the hands of law enforcement because of racism. If you can watch video On footage of American men, women and children being murdered and not demand justice for those murders, I don't believe you are patriotic at all. Shooting a bird at the flag would be disrespectful. Kneeling before a flag is respectful, yet sends a message that all Americans do not have the same rights that the people at Fort McHenry fought for.
@@angelacowens8291 Really? A homage to those who have been murdered at the hands of law enforcement? Pick a year, any year and you will see almost twice as many whites have been killed by law enforcement. If the event was not justified, heres what we do. We file suit in a court of law. Sure we need police reform. However the biggest problem starts at home. Society has worked out a plan in case some didn't get the memo. It goes a little something like this. You stay in school, get a job, any job, no one is above working at mcdonalds. Find a like spouse, and start a family. Basically thats all there is to it. Spread the word! No more babies mommas because those babies don't have a chance. Because all this other BS is like putting the cart before the horse. Naturally you will disagree, but know that all others feel the same as I do and most all others at least attempt the marriage and family thing. We don't just have babies and wait for the welfare check once a month as a first option. Sure most marriages fail. But heres the thing. If you find a man who commits to marriage, he is more likely to be a active father in the childrens lives. If the young ladies left the thugs alone, they would eventually die out. As far as I know, there were not any black men at Fort Henry so yeah, totally disrespectful to our forefathers who literally knowingly they would die holding up the flag pole with their bodies. As a result of what these men did, is why we can play football. Like the quote says though, "I would rather die standing than live on my knees" and is how these idiots who kneel live. On their knees. None of this is opinion, it is fact.
Yeah especially the third one that talks about killing slaves, hmmm wonder why they left that stanza of the poem out?? P.S. the above story/video is mostly fabricated. Do better
This was during the War of 1812. Francis Scott Key wrote the original poem in 1814. It was eventually put to music & became our national anthem in 1931. Many folks will say that this particular video isn't entirely 100% accurate, but that's alright. You get the basics of it's history & why Americans are so prideful when it comes to our symbol of freedom. Most American kids did learn about the War of 1812 in school. Well, at least we did back when I was in high school (early to mid 80's). But for many, it just went in one ear & out the other. All "boring" parts of history that we had to memorize in order to pass tests & finals. Most never gave it a 2nd thought after completing the class. I wonder, how many actually know the story these days? It's sad that people today take it (the history) and our flag for granted. I've watched several of these reaction videos from people all over the world (New Zealand, England, Russia, Scotland, etc) and all these "foreigners" across the globe understand that better than some of the so called "patriots" living here in the U.S.A. My father served 30+ years of active duty in the United States Army. He was completely heartbroken when the riots of January 6th took place in Washington DC. It made him livid to see his beloved flag being used as a weapon against fellow Americans, on the steps of & within the sacred halls of our nation’s capital. He's 86 now with mobility issues, but he still insists on standing & saluting "Old Glory", whenever the anthem is played. I gladly help steady him up, as he jokes that he needs help so he doesn't toppled over his walker & make a spectacle of himself. He also makes it a point to say thank you to every solider in uniform, police, & other public service workers. :-) OK, now that you know the story, you must watch what has been deemed as one of the greatest performances of our anthem to date. Please check out Whitney Houston's amazing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, at Superbowl XXV (January 1991). You can find many videos on UA-cam of her incredible performance. You won't be disappointed.
Well it was written with a third verse (stanza) as it was a poem, so if you believe is should be sung as it was written, why are you not apposed to the absence of the last verse, where Key calls for the death of any slaves that were captured and fought for the British, I mean how dare they, when we were treating them so well here.
All of the kneelers need to watch this so they understand why so many people get mad at them. They should also understand that all of the people that died for the flag did so that they would have the right to speak out. But there is a time to speak out and there is a time when you should show respect.
Please read Exodus 17:15, The Lord is our banner, The American flag represents GOD our Father, One Nation under GOD,Jesus died upon the cross high above the ground kinda like our flag One Nation under g GOD.
All of those who used the flag and staff to smash windows at the Nation's capital, beat policemen, wrap themselves in it as they made death threats and cursed on camera and recorded themselves hot with fervor, scuffled with National Guard, sprayed insect repellant and bear spray into the faces of people assigned to protect the flag, law and order, public property, and keep the peace, or used the flag as an excuse to commit criminal acts in the name of their so called patriotism should watch and reflect on this also.

@@deborahdanhauer8525 ...I don't have an issue with our anthem, at least the way it is sang, leaving out the racist verse, what I am "on about" is this video infuriates me, because so many people, who I truly think actually care about our country and want to be proud of it, are fooled into thinking that it is a factual account, when in fact it's easily 75% fabricated. The FACT that it is, was done so by the preacher's voice who narrates, as a sermon for his "flock" in order to inappropriately link Christianity to the founding of our country, and the 225+year misinformation campaign pain that we are somehow supposed to accept that we are a Christian nation. I have no issues with Christianity or any religions, if that is what gives someone inner peace and joy in their life, who the heck am I to tell them any different. But the Christian religion has continuously tried to bully it's way into our government and influence rules and laws that govern all people of all faiths and lack there of. There are people in this country of Pakistani heritage, Irish heritage, Zimbabwe heritage, Portugese heritage, Polish heritage Japanese heritage, native Americans , etc. many of whom fought bravely as American citizens in war defending the flag. They are of different faiths. They are all Americans. Sometimes it is helpful to disentangle from Fox News, OAN, and Newsmax and just chill . . . .
We are ( most of us ) are VERRY proud of that flag. We are a military gold star family we have paid the ultimate price for that flag. Anyone disrespecting that flag in our presence is in for an ass whooping. The flag should never touch the ground . We all have flag poles in front yard. Flag goes up in the morning and down and folded properly at dusk.
I love hearing this story and watching the peoples reactions. It makes our political climate so much sadder. There are more verses. Some speak of slavery. The author was a slave owner...i personally do not feel it negates the lives of those who died at the base of that flag, through the war, and as British prisoners. When you have a favorite singer and they right a questionable song do you cut them off your list or do you skip that song. This verse is the recognized national anthem of the USA. The rest is never song. I wish people still held common sense and decency.
3rd verse isn’t even about black slaves. The slave part was a metaphor for Americans who were force to fight under British rule during the war of 1812 and the napoleonic wars.
When I was a child, we started every school day with the Pledge of Allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands. One Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. True patriotic Americans know, understand, honor, cherish, and appreciate that we are a part of the greatest country that has ever existed. Our flag represents us.....our spirit, our bravery, our never ending determination to protect and preserve our rights and freedoms for our lifetime and for our children and our children's children. LONG MAY OUR BANNER WAVE!!
Please read Exodus 17:15, The Lord is our banner, The American flag represents GOD our Father, One Nation under GOD, Jesus died upon the cross high above the ground kinda like our flag One Nation under GOD.
Such a good idea! I'm American and even I didn't know the whole story... I think if other countries or nationalities could listen, yes, they'd finally understand us more so, cuz it is in the emotion of the song, is where they may find a deeper connection with the US....😌😔
A message from Australia, " Courage isn't about not being afraid, Courage is about not letting fear stop you ". With God standing by your side, courage comes easy.
"O, say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?" Why is there a question mark? Because it's a question. One that the prisoners were asking Francis Scott Key. If you look up the whole song that part is written multiple ways most of them being more declarative and exclamatory.
as a Marylander we visit Fort McHenry when we are young, so I've known this story my whole life. i feel like the anthem might hold a bit more meaning to us Marylanders, or maybe we are just prouder haha. if I remember right this flag is at the Smithsonian in DC. the flag represents the people not the government and that's why it will always be respected and loved by Americans. we must never and will never forget the people who gave their lives for that flag.
You made a point I never even thought of but I strongly agree with: you said something like 'anyone who is gonna sing this song should watch this video first'....that is a great point.
They'll watch it if you pay them although.... they're still gonna kneel because it's the "popular" thing to do and can't think for themselves and will continue to wade in their ignorance
Walked through Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. The names spoke of diverse ancestry. All the crosses were white. I could not tell the race of the patriots. That information was not pertinent.
Because they were White aka European. The vast majority of the countries history the vast majority well over 94% were of European ancestry. It was not until the 1900s, more specifically the 1950s and onward that we opened the flood gates to non Europeans. No wonder we have been going down hill ever since.
@@Mars-sp2gx What??? Millions of Indigenous peoples, millions of slaves imported from Africa, the existence of a Tejano culture in Texas that preceded Anglo-Saxon settlers, millions of Chinese who worked on the Western portion of the Trans-Atlantic Railroad, the French habitants of pre-USA existence. The city of Cahokia whose inhabitants had dispersed by the 1400s but whose culture and heritage influenced other indigenous peoples. Auguste Chouteau may have been from French parents but he lived his entire life in the interior of America and fathered children with the Osage and perhaps others. Pierre Chouteau was the paterfamilias of the ballerina Maria Tallchief. Many Black families have a white or native ancestor in their DNA. The Irish who dispersed after the Great Hunger mixed with many other people and went from being despised to prominent citizens. The American Experience is complex and rich. Racial diversity and mixing IS the story of America with a lot of backlash and bumps and reactionary violence along the way. America's history has been the battle to live up to its own aspirations. The violence, backlash, and racism along the way speaks to the negative part of human behavior, but the victory (although slow) of inclusion is America's strength. It is the aspiration spoken of in the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution. It is the battle to overcome prejudice and narrowmindedness.

There are the uninformed that claim the National Anthem is agressive and refers to war. But knowing it's history and the reasons Mr. Keys penned the poem, one quickly realizes that it's actually a deep, sincere and even a desperate Prayer.
It never SAID it was the revolutionary war. If you assumed that by the use of the term "colonies", we were at the time STILL considered to be the British Colonies even though we had gained our independence. Still TODAY some call us "The Colonies" because of our roots.

It is easy to hate, isn't it? It doesn't take any investment to hate people you've never met. But this flag isn't about hate. The flag stands for love. Maybe, some day, you will learn what that is.

Are we still free?” “Are Flag was still there = the answer, It’s there, the fight is still on, we have not surrendered, we are still free, be brave and keep it up.

I thank God for our founding fathers and for their courage, bravery, and wisdom! One thing that I think of when I hear this song is a comparison and contrast between the way men used to be and the way men are now... Are people strong enough and brave enough, have enough courage to lay down their lives for their posterity? To help establish a new democracy, a new country which provides freedoms for all? I hope so❤...

This story should be made into a movie... Epic!!!
It's poetic because it was written as a poem, not a song, then later put to song. You're reaction and words were spot on, well done!
Thats what songs are. Poems.

As an old Veteran I fly our flag in my Heart everyday of my life.. Not only does it mean Freedom but it is the last blanket of Love that covers our fallen on there way home
"AMERICA IS EVERYONES COUNTRY." And it is our duty as American's to keep America standing strong. What a privilege, what an honor.
After first seeing this a couple years ago, I sent it to everyone I know...A powerful story of the birth of our nation....The incredible price paid, the ultimate sacrifice by so many that afforded our birthright as a free people....Let us never forget, that with all its faults, we are blessed to call America our home...Thank God above for our heritage, and let us go forward and educate those who don't know or understand our founding, and let us be stead against any who would try to tear it down...We are" ALL" Americans....Stand, pray and gird the pillars of the greatest nation to ever find hold on the face of the earth...GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I wish it were required in our schools for them to know the history of this and perhaps things would change...it makes me so proud and humble because of the bravery of our patriots.
I wish somebody would quit cutting onions near me when hear this story. And the heroic stories of the Civil War or 2/3 of America thought and risk their lives to help make this country free for all… land of the free and home of the brave!! “Rather Die on our feet then live on our knees” -G Washington
This is why the saying. Freedom isn't free is more then just words to some Americans. God bless

@@darlaflorence7428 Well, we did kind of conquer the country for 50 years, and the Filipinos did fight several wars of rebellion against us. So I'm not surprised if many have negative sentiments towards America.

Stop with this BS about foreigners loving the US more than Americans! If not for our ancestors fighting for this freedom that many foreigners come to , what America the Free would their be? Your tears are for those men who lost their lives to uphold freedom and the flag that represents it. The sacrifice they made for humanity everywhere in the world. It wasn’t just for America. Their deaths were an inspiration for all who want freedom.
There’s a question mark in there because it’s asking us every time we sing it if we are still brave and free reminding us it is up to us to remain free and brave
I love your emotional investment.
I have seen so many people trying to debunk this as a lie! But we still have THAT very flag. We still have the pride handed down to us to us by those people. 🙂.
Your tears are the reason this song and the constitution exists.
Freedom is for all not just those in the U.S.

@@jdanon203 Alex do you realize that the revolutionary War and the war of 1812 are one in the same? Same book, just different chapters.
It was the British returning for unfinished business with the world's most powerful military, free of previous distractions. Had they taken the undefended port of New Orleans, then they would have effective control of the entire Mississippi river (a vital commerce superhighway at the time), and from there it would have been extremely tough to ever get rid of them? Just asking because you seem kind of dense?
I know I'm a little late on your reaction to this but it was nevertheless beautiful. And don't feel bad about feeling that way about the song before because I know that when I was younger, even me living in America for my entire life, before I knew this story and what the flag and National Anthem really meant and stood for I did the exact same thing, I'd hear the words, memorized them as a kid like almost every kid does in this country, and I knew enough to know that we were supposed to show respect for the flag and the Anthem but as a kid I didn't really understand why we were supposed to do that, just that it was what people did. But after learning the history, it makes you feel completely different and suddenly you Want to show respect and pride and patriotism for those things, not just because it's what you're supposed to do.
I'm so hopeful that a new generation is being introduced to our history.
Great Reaction. Thank you for taking the time to listen and think about the roots of our country. America is NOT as divided as the Media would lead you to believe. Our country gifted the world with a revolution of Freedom which we will still fight to uphold.
Just watch your video. I'm 54 years old, and I cry when I sing it.
This would be considered the second revolution war. The first was to gain our freedom from British rule, the 2nd was to keep it for good.... and this is why this flag means so much to true American Patriots...Christian and non-Christian alike but true Americans. Another reason why we get so offended when someone kneels and stomps our flag or burns it...we take it personal 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🤘😎🤘🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

I was taught about the War of 1812 and the story behind the National Anthem in grade school. And after serving in the Army and fought under this flag, it gave it even more meaning for me. 🇺🇲
I learned this in elementary school in the 1960s. I love your reaction!
This is why it is so disrespectful to kneel during the national anthem!
Why would people who do that care if they disrespect our nation's heroes all they care about is to stay relevant whether they believe in something or not and how many $ they can make
EXACTLY Diane ,well said!
Lee Fischer, Because Black men and women have also fought and died for our country yet don't have the same rights as others to survive a traffic stop.
Thank you for appreciating our National Anthem. GOD bless and protect my home the United States of America!
And this is just the first verse of the Anthem, there are actually 4 in total. They’re beautiful.

Freedom came with a price, and it was paid in blood. 🇺🇸❤
OK, now that you know the story, you must watch what has been deemed as one of the greatest performances of our anthem to date. Please check out Whitney Houston's amazing rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, at Superbowl XXV (January 1991). You can find many videos on UA-cam of her incredible performance.
They have become successful at times, especially as of late, taking the freedom of bodily autonomy away from half of Americans. If Christian organizations had their way it would go much further than that too, don't kid yourself, they are no different and no better than Muslim fundamentalist that believe Sharia law should be the law of the land globally. It makes our political climate so much sadder. There are more verses. Some speak of slavery. When you have a favorite singer and they right a questionable song do you cut them off your list or do you skip that song. This verse is the recognized national anthem of the USA. The rest is never song. I wish people still held common sense and decency.

@@dennisstafford1749 I proved you wrong with the links to back it up, none of which are biased unless you are going to try and say history is a lie. You have provided no evidence to support your claims. My main point still stands, The history, the majority of the history of the USA is thanks to Whites/Europeans and their descendants, it was well over 94% White/European for most of the countries history. Your numbers are astronomically wrong. Oh and by the way, Spainards are white/european. Central / South Americans, how many of them share over 50% of their DNA with them? Ya.....
Thank you you got it it's unfortunate that some of our sports figures want to kneel instead of standing and saluting our play if they knew what it stood for but then again they're too busy Counting their money and not realizing what if this country had not done what it needed to do they wouldn't have that freedom thank you even though you're not a citizen which is what you said you weren't I appreciate it
Not a warmonger song.
Thank you for your respect. We love you too. ☺️💕
There are the uninformed that claim the National Anthem is agressive and refers to war. But knowing it's history and the reasons Mr. Keys penned the poem, one quickly realizes that it's actually a deep, sincere and even a desperate Prayer.
I admire you're comments to this video exellent as a veteran family member ♥️
This occurred during the war of 1812 not the revolutionary war.
Also, that it was not the National Anthem till the 20th century till it was adopted over America the Beautiful.
It never SAID it was the revolutionary war.
If you assumed that by the use of the term "colonies", we were at the time
STILL considered to be the British Colonies even though we had gained
our independence. Still TODAY some call us "The Colonies" because of
our roots.
@@mikeh8416 Whatever makes you happy.
@@samson9535 Whatever keeps you stupid.
And they weren't "colonists" anymore.
This is exactly why true Americans take this so seriously. We will never let that flag hit the ground, ever.
@bored Ruky - One more thing, now I'm sure you understand why so many of us despise those who allow our flag to actually touch the ground, to be walked on or lit on fire. You feel it. I just know you do.
Freedom is never Free. Respect and much love for all who have served and those serving now. ❤️
@bored Ruky Yea, wag mo listen to your own kapwa sabi nila; but they want you to listen and do as they tell you. Which are the actions of "Oppressors". It's funny how they want to jump on me about the article they own people wrote 😂🤣 damn shame they will NOT debunk that SMH
i guess you are the kind that prefers to live on your knees.
To an idiot that what it would seem like
@@MahlonTane cant be oppressed if you are willing to die on your feet
@@williammontgomery295 To an oppressor it DOES NOT because he clearly gives NO F other than himself. Always wanting to be supreme over someone because in reality he is of NOTHING but a simple idiot psychopath that thinks the world revolves around him 🤣 SMH.
It is easy to hate, isn't it?
It doesn't take any investment to hate people you've never met.
But this flag isn't about hate.
The flag stands for love.
Maybe, some day, you will learn what that is.
“Why… question mark?”
Because that part of the song is a question.
“Oh Say” = Tell me, Answer this question
“Does…….. yet wave?” = is the flag still up? Did we surrender? Are we still free?”
“Are Flag was still there = the answer, It’s there, the fight is still on, we have not surrendered, we are still free, be brave and keep it up.
Please I beg you don't listen to these people trying to make you doubt the history of the "Star-Spangled Banner". They need to let go of hate that happened in the past and look to the future as one America. The issues are the people in government, not the normal Americans of all race, creeds, and backgrounds.
I am an American citizen. As a young man I served 6 years in the United States military. I have always had a love for early American history as well. And I have always had a tremendous amount of pride, and love for my country!
I have always loved the American National Anthem. But until you hear this video explaining the story behind the song, you can never truly understand the depths and meaning of this song.
