Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries (often shortened to LFP or LiFePO4) are an increasingly popular alternative to Li-ion or Lithium polymer batteries. Although a little heavier Ah for Ah, they are more stable and with better longevity. There are lots of manufacturers, many based in China, so it's worth separating the good from the bad, and I make my small contribution here.

With the size of it I thought it would be higher capacity. I've got a 24v 100ah eco worthy and it seems much smaller. The eco worthy is taller and does weigh about 20kg so probably just stacked differently inside. I got it for £400 off eBay via dc house which is like the factory outlet brand. Seems very good though. I've had 95 ah out of it and it wasn't flat. Just added 2x 410 watt solar panels (£56 each) and although I'm only pulling 410 watts from them i need to upgrade my wiring as 15amp continuous heats things up. Seems a 30amp fuse holder is not up to the job.
I think there's a fair amount of empty space around the cells. They do a much smaller 'mini' one with the same capacity.

what was the shipping time like? also any idea why the 230Ah 12v is cheaper than the 200AH 12v? love your work Alex.
There was a stock delay, which added a few weeks, but they did warn me. It's as the 24V is less popular. Probably the same reasoning for prices. Scale.
Some lithium iron phosphate batteries include built-in heaters to make it possible to charge in the cold without damaging the cells. Of course, it does take away from the charge current. But, given the level of "cold" you seem to adventure through, it might be enough to move the needle from "impossible to charge" to merely "difficult."
Yeah it's a bit of a sticking plaster solution to make up for lithium's shortcomings, and really wasteful energy-wise. Especially if you're charging from DC-DC.
