Yep i love watching if you want to see snakes go to my local forest Cannock chase
Where did you film this video?
@@Billy-vr123 I think some where down south cuz he says it in the video
@@worldwidegaming6714 ok
I work at a small National Trust property in West Yorkshire, was pointed in the direction of the nearby lizard habitat by the rangers I work with and found a whole bunch of common lizards and a grass snake in the nearby pond, further down into the valley there were otters swimming about too!! If you’re ever about in Yorkshire, would be happy to show you our lizard habitats. They’re off the beaten path and we tend to keep tourists away to maintain the somewhat rare population we have up here.
Aw mate, I wish I could have the chance to see more lizards and snakes in the uk as a reptile fanatic from West Yorkshire. A lizards zoomed past me at Ilkley stones moor and that’s all I’ve ever seen! Incredible to see reptiles wild in the uk. Especially Yorkshire!
Sounds awesome! Can you email me about this? I’m interested
As a child way back in the mud 80s I was lucky enough to see a smooth snake basking on a rock. I can remember the exact location, however it was near to Lulworth cove.
I’m in West Yorkshire, be interested to know which national trust? I think I know which it will be but if you could message me. Would love to take some pictures with my camera☺️don’t worry I’ll keep the location quiet. Just would love to photograph some native reptiles☺️
I’m in West Yorkshire near hebden bridge and was lucky enough to have a common lizard in my garden
I never would have guessed a UK native would be among the most beautiful lizards. You've once again validated my choice to donate to you on Patreon. Thank you
It’s so lovely isn’t it! You’re a legend man, thank you for being a part of it
The Sand Lizard might be one of the coolest looking things I've ever seen!
Sick init, sort of looks out of place here in the UK 😂
As a wildlife enthusiast myself, you have just gained another subscriber. The sheer happiness from you radiates through the screen! I have been lucky enough to see all of these at my job and it is so wonderful to know other people appreciate them too. Awesome video😊
I live in Wisconsin, USA. I really appreciate the educational value of your videos. Keep up the great work
Bro! That wee sand lizard was absolutely stunning. Such a beautiful shade of green. We don’t get those where I live so thank you for sharing your footage. The wee fckr even yawned! 😲 so cool.
Class aren't they!? Such lovely looking things. The yawn was so sweet hahaha
Where do you live
Thanks for sharing that. I personally have only ever seen a slow worm (alive). When I was little I was in hospital and the boy in the bed next to me had been bitten by an adder when playing in the long grass in the field next to his house. His parents went into the field and found the snake and killed it. The brought it into the holital in a jar and showed us. The father said : "there you are son - I got him for you!". That was in the 1980s. I suspect that is a crime now as they are a protected species and possibly was then also? But yes - a good idea not to harass them - they wouldnt like it.
I lived in the UK all my life, 38 years.. never seen any of these reptiles! I knew we had adders but the lizards are new to me.
Cooke, mate, I recently found your channel. You seem like a Top Guy. I'd like to know when you're coming back Down Under? I know Queensland pretty good. I'd would be honoured to go outback & show you some unique areas & Aussie wildlife. I'm sure you are aware of this fact, but the Red Belly Black Snakes, are one of the smelliest or pungent reptiles on the planet. I once was told that they produce some sort of oil for their scales, to help them stay hydrated. I usually smell them before I see them. I've see about 10 of them in urban & semi-rural areas. I had one living under my caravan in Airlie Beach. He was a good looking snake. The RBB snake is my favourite serpent.
sounds boss that
The adder snakes have their own “ private “ part of our derwent reservoirs forest to roam wild and live their lives. Amazing to see and such a large number of them. Would defo be a good stop for you one day ❤
Nice one for finding lizards here, I've only ever seen fish and frogs sadly
Finally the UA-cam algorithm leads me the right way! That sand lizard montage at the end was fantastic.
The sand lizard is beautiful. Lovely video! ♡
It's nice to see that the UK actually has nice animals I would like to see you cover Wales and it's animals
And Northern Ireland!
This week i'm on Skomer Island!
Brilliant video them sand lizards look lovely so nice to see
Thanks for sharing! I didnt know uk had this beauty. Your enjoyment of your search was palpable!
When I was younger I found a black lizard with bright orange spots in Bristol, looked very much like the common Lizard
Just across the water from Studland, in Boscombe there are Western Green Lizards (Lacerta Bilineata) & Wall Lizards (Podarcis Muralis). A fairly decent colony, living together with Common & Sand Lizards.
Wow I’m stopping in Swanage next week, I would love to see those species. Would it difficult to find them?
You also get these species in Jersey
I used to see sand lizards on the outskirts of Birmingham when i was a kid.
That footage of the sand lizard is top quality and wouldn’t be out of place with David Attenborough narrating over it.
Here in Northern Ireland, I found a lizard for the 1st time this summer. Honestly didn't even know we had them
It's very rare to spot an adder however in Scotland you can spot em up in the mountain trails, cairngorms etc
It's one of nature's coolest defence mechanisms that a lizard can drop its tail and perhaps escape a predator or bird by giving up the wriggling tail. Everybody wins and they just grow it back later.
I have some legless lizards (9 at the last count) in my back garden under some strategically placed slabs. They can have a feed up and then head out into the forest and brook.
Keep up the great content.
I’ve never watched any of your videos before but man I wish I had! The passion you have is amazing and great too watch
Ps I never really comment on videos but I felt the need too.
Keep up the good work!
I seen a gang of lizards in the UK. Sat eating my lunch in the work van on old industrial works. Looked over at an old pile of bricks with mud & grass grown over them & I seen something shiny catch my eye, spotted about 8 of the little things, very fast & the second they see you they are off. Didn’t even know we had lizards in the UK till that moment. Very cool little guys, super pretty when they catch the light.
Where was this pal
@@joemarshall4415 Northamptonshire. Spotted a grass snake & an adder around here too.
Keep up the great work, cookie, on the road to 35k! I wish u luck!
Awesome video the colours on the sand lizard are really beautiful. What a great place for reptiles .
Another brilliant video mate 👌 i know of a seventh, the western green lizard, all data ive found says they're only in found around southern england but ive seen them north west wales 🦎
Not a native species though, similar to the Aesculapian snake which his found on regents canal in London and some parts of wales.
It's on the list!
There were very rarely some of whatci think used to be called lacerta viridis around leysdown kent these were bright green all 9ver and a l9t bigger than our l9zards.
Absolutely awesome, Once again Cookies gone and done it, woohoo
As a kid I used to see loads of Common lizzards and Sand lizzards and even Adders around Perrend Sands and St Ives back in the 80s while on Holiday. Used to love watching them and the rabbits. We used to have loads of Grass snakes around my home town especially the town park (Telford) and our local brook by my school.
I know all about these but it's because I read the Brian Jacques "redwall" novels and he mentioned all these reptiles
I am so jealous! Definitely going to arrange a trip down. Great spots man, great spots.
I went on a walk with my dad in kinlochleven, scotland while on holiday and i saw my first ever slow worm last week.when we stopped to look at it,it jumped and it was very fast
I knew we had the adder, but I had no clue about the others. Pretty cool.
Great to see Studland on here!
Made me want to go looking for them with my camera now 😍
Suprised no ones captivated the lizards in the Uk, considering the Uk lizard market is big. And the care for a captive bred baby would be easier for the right temp and humiidty.
Probably illegal to do so... similar to native birds need to have a liscense to keep native but I get your sentiment.
Loving the the work r kid there’s not enough videos about UK wildlife
There is wild peacocks where I live in southport.
I've seen sand lizards and slow worms in my Mum's garden in Bournemouth.
i saw a male sand lizard basking near stud-land i was about 7, i was hooked, i was part of a re-introduction program and wrote about them for my dissertation.
We have a re appeared snake: the aesculapian its mid to dark brown about 6ft long very partial to rats, disappeared with the Romans, but there are currently 3 colonies N. Wales, S. Wales and Camden. as one of our ancient native fauna, its considered re-introduced, but it may have never left, just never seen in 1000yrs, as there is no known introduction
I've seen lots of slow worms in Dorset, and was also lucky enough to find an adder underneath some discarded sheet metal in Weymouth. I'm sure with the weather warming up we'll probably end up with more reptiles in the Uk
Knowing i could be randomly combusting , that's dedication. Love it.😅
oi how mad is it to see a sign like that hahaha
if you’re local ish to here I almost always see both species of lizards at the jurassic kids playground off bournemouth beach, they sun themselves on the wall in the mornings.
i came across a sand lizard while on a motorcycle training course for my license. first time in 40 years! i was amazed and excited lol
You should grab yourself a shoulder camera mount that will attach to your bag shoulder strap. You could have quickly clipped the cam of your shoulder and caught the sand lizard shot. Amazing content mate. Thoroughly enjoying it 🎉
I always forget the UK actually has animals aside from deer and foxes
To see wildlife you need to be as silent as possible, even your shadow moving on the ground will cause wildlife to hide. Lizards used to be quite common in areas of Warwickshire back in the 1960s.
Saw a slow worm when i was about 8 years old (22 years ago) in a place called scorton in the north west of england
Sand lizards are gorgeous mate! Congrats on that! We are off to find them soon!
Also, Solero, god tier!
Enjoy lad. Soleros are god tier, you are absolutely correct
"Whats that" Its a snake. It's an adder, its an adder"
*Proceeds to move closer to the venemous snake*
Jokes aside, loved this video! It's lovely to get an insight on the creatures that live here in the uk.
I grew up with slow worms in the garden, jumped over an adder while on a walk and found a common lizard in the centre of london of all places!
I've been to Studland so many times, ran and played in the dunes for ages and had absolutely 0 ideas there were Adders there... wild
This was a great video to watch! ❤
Great video - Ive only been lucky enough to see Sand Lizards a couple of times, but one was a beautiful green male :)
I was at Arne at the weekend looking for heather crab spiders.. didn't see a single one. However, a sand lizard did run across us on the path! 😄 Headed to Higher Hyde Heath after that where we got our spiders too, great Saturday.
When I was much younger, I was on holiday at Skegness and I happened to walk over a little sand dune, I glanced on the floor and I saw two lizards, one was green and the other was a dull brown, at that time I thought that they were fighting with each other. Now that I am older and have seen a lot of animal documentaries, I now know that they were not fighting, however they were getting intimate. This was in the early eighties. To me I feel sad, that all these little animals, cannot be seen, due to habitat loss. I am grateful, for that moment and I hope to see more British reptiles in the future.
i live a 15 minute drive from studland and i find it crazy that me and my mates play tag and hide n seek in the dunes, like i once hid in a bush that looked like that bush where u found the viper, i mean i knew there was the odd chance to find a grass snake, like ive seen many around the studland ullwell area but never knew about adders, ill tell my mates to be caution when were here then, thanks for the info mate
I’m off for a week stopping at Swanage next week and I will definitely be heading to the cafe for the sand lizards.
I never thought I would be mesmerised by a lizard but here I am, they are absolutely stunning to look at 🥰
Aren't they!? So gorgeous
The adder gives live birth as well! More common than you’d think with reptiles!
Loved the little stretch the sand lizard did in the end and love your passion for wildlife broski.
do you know if there is any rare and/or spectacular animals in kent(otherthan sheerness's scorpions, the iron age pigs and bison in blean that is)? Surely something lurking in the kent downs near ashford or any of the seaside towns like whistable sandwich or dover? ive heard a wallaby was spotted near ashford but thats been about all ive heard other than the ocasional zoo escapee that was promptly caught
When i go fishing, i see small black newts i thnk, sitting along the path. I always wondered what they were, they are all black with very little other colours on them and only see them at night.
When I was a kid I was digging at a bottle dump near a river, whilst digging I found a Fire salamander which are apparently pretty rare in the UK since they aren't native.
This was back around 2007
A neighbour found one in purley surrey when i was young not sure if it escaped from somewhere but i was jealous.
I never knew we had native lizards in the UK, absolutely mesmerized. Thank you for this video
I work up on the moors in the Yorkshire dales I see lizards all the time.
Alot of them aren't that scared tbh I've easily picked them up they are beautiful
I knew about the snakes but I didn’t know we had lizards here 🤯😂 you learn something new everyday ❤
one time I seen a commen lizard at school before
There is a lovely strong population of sand lizards in Sussex on the coast. Seaford Fort and Newhaven Fort good spots as they love to bask on the bricks 😊
Give the guy an oscar a true UK legend in my prediction in the coming years Cookie will be the next Steve Irwin
Many moons ago I was at a dune in north wales ŵhere there were so many sand lizards we were able to catch them for fun. They were released quickly.
I used to see sand lizards on top of settling ponds belonging to British salt in middlewich, cheshire
I was in studland bay yesterday, unfortunately seen no reptiles but did see a heard of about 70 Sika deer on the way back to the hotel
Haha that’s where I saw a lizard excellent video
I play golf on a links course in the north east of England and see lizards quite often
My partner saw a muntjac deer on a terraced street in the middle of town the other week. We can here barking too. Totally mental
I used to catch sand lizards on the beach of hemsby in the grass dunes they are lovely lizards
Looks like Dartford warbler, nightjar and woodlark country.
What a great video mate!
Epic as always!
Thanks mate, was great to see these little fellas!
didn’t know we had to his many reptiles cool!
Any ideas of places I can try see them around Nottinghamshire? Genuinely never seen a wild lizards or snake
The fact that thermal scopes exist and have done for some time tells you there are no big cats in the wild in the UK no matter what people claim they've seen.
I want it to be known that I'm 38, but at age 9 here in the UK, I found a tiny white scorpion 🦂 in my school playground. So those are also definitely around...
There were scorpions not sure which type in zGodston surrey and at sheerness on the isle of sheppy. Not sure if they are still there.
Great lizard, great video, great day! 🦎💚
Class wasn't it!
If you'd have visited RSPB Arne, which is not far from Studland, there are all six native reptiles there!
Did drive past but Springwatch was filming at the same time
We have sea turtles around the coast.
I saw one in devon about 40 years ago.
Ive found 2 adders on Talbot heath, Dorset
"
Right then, you join me at studland bay.
One of the premier sites for reptiles in the UK.
Not only that, just over that way,
"
Man's spitting bars!
The slow worms have decided to chill in our garden, there’s a family of 3 or 4
Sand Lizards are rare? I live in Bournemouth and I see them pretty much every time I go to the beach in the summer. Honestly, just go to one of the zigzag stairs anywhere along the prom on a hot day and you'll see them everywhere
Brilliant video that was
I was once walking in the fells up in cumbria and I was about 5 cm away from stepping on it and then me and my mate proceeded to chase it further down the mountain
quality vid mate
I live on the edge of Dartmoor, I opened my front door the other afternoon to find a slow worm heading across the doorstep towards the shelter of the plant pots. I managed to get it on film.
What was an even bigger surprise was my d#ckhead cat was just sitting there watching it, which i am thankful for
Great video!
Well, my country walks won't be as relaxing as they usually are.
Adders are not the only venomous thing around here by any means. We have many venomous Spiders. But much like the Adder are harmless to a reasonably healthy human.
My husband spent 3 days in hospital due to a spider bite. However we never remove or kill and spiders that live peacefully in our house 🏠
I’m sure ive seen the sand lizard in Jersey.
It actually has 7 native reptiles if you include Pete Price
