I know that GW gets you a better place in the youtube algorithm but i would love more Warlord Games and any spotlights of other games companies and there products
To answer Pats question about Warlord making every historical unit. Eventually they could upscale them and make Primaris Roman Legionaries with MKX Gladiuses or Anti-grav Sherman tanks. Also, are Pat and Geoff in an unofficial beard off, I swear Pats beard is close to being bushier than Geoffs?!
John is an absolute delight, he comes across as a down to earth gentlemen and I’ve worked in gaming and pop culture retail for 30 years and can tell his teams are Warlord are fortunate to have such a leader. I’m looking forward to the ABC Warriors game. Thanks for the time everyone, hands down best Patreon questions yet!!
Love listening to John and how open he is about everything. Also extremely pumped for a reboot of konflict would be amazing, it’s a fantastic game with a great range.
Great interview. Broke my 'historicals' cherry in 2022 with a Bolt Action project building British and Japanese armies from the Fall of Singapore campaign. As John said, the research side of the project was the most enjoyable part by far. Got to play a fair few games of Bolt Action this year and can't wait to find time to explore more Warlord games and ranges in the future.
The men using the Garand, Carbine, and BAR said: Guh-rand, Carbeen, and B.A.R. But, you can say it however you want. Great show, guys! And a great guest once again!
I remember meeting John for my Spirit of Games Workshop course, would have been about 17/18ish years ago there abouts. I got to ask him one question, and at the time in the Belfast store, all our regulars and vets even then were nuts for anything about the Heresy, so I asked about his thoughts on a Heresy upgrade sprue that people could use on the at the time existing marines, to play out games based in the Heresy. John said while it was a nice idea, and the Heresy is an area that could be greatly tapped into, he felt it would feel like going backwards, people have rose tinted glasses for the Heresy, and GW wants to be moving forward with 40k, not backwards toward the Heresy.
@@benburkin7942 I will thanks. Since they were shipped complete and you didn't have to pay for DLC or Even the chance to play in "3D." But you do you and keep being a good little paypig.
Loving the epic scale that warlord do, patiently waiting for epic Romans and Samurai. Also, I feel like it's only right you get on Ronnie from Mantic now!
When I told my Irish Catholic mother that you guys said throwing aways your toys and models was a mortal sin she laughed so hard she cried. Well done chaps!
Always a joy listening to John, really enjoyed the talking miniatures book. Your last couple of videos have convinced me to finally jump into historical!
Make sure Peachy doesn't look too deep into Colonel Peach, it might be time travel shenanigans and he ends up trapped in the past, destined to become the Colonel.
I watch TPF whilst doing hobby usually, and just now I was assembling my free Wargame Illustrated Warlord minis of the month whilst John discussed how well that marketing ploy works!
Really love how you guys just have a nice chat with a lovely gent, appreciate the thoughtful answers to the questions and can definitely agree that Warlord Games excellent customer service is apparent, they have always dealt with any mispacks very rapidly and cordially.
John PLEASE tell me more about ABC Warriors. I love the comics and you mentioned it in passing despite it coming out next month, please advertise your game more!!!!
Lovely chat as always. John has a "grandad" voice that makes his words sound like wisdom of the ages XD. You should have Ronnie Renton from Mantic in the future, he's ex gw and looks like a lovely chap for a chat
Another great episode guys! Thanks for all your work on these. While I'm waiting on Epic Hail Caesar, I would LOVE an epic scale Pony Wars/Plains Indians game! Hopefully the Warlord team will decide to move on that.
Perfect timing as I'm painting up my Bolt Action IJA models! Goal of mine for next year is to explore some of the other historical game systems Warlord offer
Another cracking interview. So interesting. When I heard about that Napoleon model with the painter I knew I had to get it. But just found out it was limited to November only 😢! Nooooo
If you want French Foreign Legion miniatures folks, check out 1898 Miniaturas - they have a great range of them and they're also working on Arab/Berber miniatures too for the period.
I just love how passionate John is when it comes to miniatures. Warlord's supposed 'competition' in the miniature's business gets constant praise and John's clear love for Warlord's games and products show. It's definitely refreshing
Mr Stallard is my gaming hero. When I am in my 50s I pray I too can have a huge gaming room filled with 1000s of nicely painted figures (well nicely painted from 3 feet away) and superb terrain so I can invite the lads over and roll dice drink beer and eat fatty foods =)
Another great interview, but in general thanks for all the content guys, due to the many hours I have watched this year I have finally joined the Patreon, so expect the odd question from me from now on. 😅
On a visit of the West Point Museum the tour guide very specifically mentioned that the Guh-rand, because it's the name by which the veterans knew it. He said. "When you are tired of being wrong and want to earn the respect of the veterans who carried this rifle into combat, you will call it a guh-rand or the U.S. rifle, caliber .30, M1."
RE the conversation about 1:00:00 - the whole 'is it okay to play historical wargames' thing. I've always thought that it's 'okay' as long as the war isn't glorified. i.e. I like to play for the strategy & tactics, the story and struggles of the people involved. I think it's only really an 'issue' when people get a bit too keen on how 'cool' war is as a concept if that makes sense. Great stuff team - another great conversation :D Any chance of one of the generic YT studio tours? Unfinished corners and all 😜
Its all ways been a bit odd playing with history, Vietnam war movies are ok, the Iraq wars are ok for video games. But as a reenactor i have a personal 1870s cut off. A part of that is the separation, if tell me that your great great...X granddad died at runaway down or waterloo that's a bit of history, but ww2 there folks around now that where there. Maybe it the evilness, ww2 has sub fraction that is flat out evil, you can argue English civil wars roundheads an cavaliers either way and that the same with most wars but not ww2.
Heh, I live walking distance to an ambulance station, a fire station, and a police headquarters. Until Pat said something, I thought the siren was here! (Which is a comment on the quality of the audio, I suppose. Or the quality of my eardrums...) Anyway, this was grand! I have Warlord Veteran Romans sitting on my "in progress" shelf right now. (I also have two Opel Blitzes, though from Taimya, not Warlord. I painted them in civilian colours and use them for 1920s Gangster skirmishes.) I will say this, though: the next time one has a bunch of Ukrainian extras in a show, I'm pretty sure they'll know how to hold a firearm.
Pat asking the innocent won't you run out of minatures for a period question. Meanwhile I'm here fuming "Stalard you mounterbank when do I get plastic Foreing Legion Alpinist for the Narvik battle". I remember Peachy quoting some ones wisdom about how the bloke who's talking down to you is only ever a osprey book ahead, the flip side of this is you one day might read that osprey book and you will never have a regular brain again.
Konflict '47 and Bolt Action are wonderful games, with some great minis. I only hope they keep the Mecha around, as they are some fun sculpts to paint, and can double up well for AdMech robots.
The Native Americans stuff reminds me of The Last of the Mohicans movie. I would love go do that. Both mass battle and small/medium ranged skirmish game too ❤
Great video! Love hearing more from historical gaming. Does anyone know where this new games shop/venue in north london with these Spanish guys that John mentioned is opening up?
A funny information: you were mentioning "Who Cares Who Wins" as the apathetic version of SAS... You might be surprised to know that a former SAS officer, Lt. Jimmy Quentin Hughes who was the sole survivor of the ill fated Operation Pomegranate in 1944 against the S. Egidio airport in Perugia, actually titled his own memories "Who Cares Who Wins" and says that that was quite often used as a phrase amongst his unit...
32:10 ... But Jurrasic Park 1 CGI looks better then modern Jurrasic world stuff and doesnt fall as much into un-canny valley. Regarding the SLRs, any Australian Vietnam Vet will also tell you they love the SLR rifle. Such a great rifle.

Yes please for a Cold War era Bolt Action. Especially the dirty, small wars and insurgencies type stuff.
That would be brilliant. Maybe even drug cartel battles in the 70's, 80's. 👍
