Nah. They are clearing old stock. The DD1 and DD2 wont move now with the release of the new clubsport bases. They will clear this lot out and release a V2 dd1 and dd2 with updated hardware and software features

I cannot justify the cost of the QR2 either. I have too many wheels that I would have to change… QR1 was one of the first quick releases and it functions
Agreed mate, it's what I've been using since getting my DD1 and if Asetek had not sent me their stuff I wouldn't change it.
I'm waiting for the Fanatec wheel/rim combo deals if any come up as I'm more than happy with the DD1, debating switching to the new qr but I don't really change wheels much, had many of Fanatec's wheels but ended up selling them on for that reason, should have kept one or two but needs must at the time, I could do with a sim racing treat right now lol...

Shame Fanatec's European shipping is so poor. Even after Thomas' said (around 16 October) they look to fix their shipping problems within 2 to 3 weeks..... 4+ weeks later I'm STILL waiting for my UPS tracking number.

This is a testament on how good the DD+ is about to be if they actually deliver it this year(with proper drivers). That being said good job fanatec giving the outgoing tech a bang on its way out.

I placed an order on Black Friday for a CSL DD, 2.5x, and Some other items. My order was never processed for 4 weeks, and then was told that the items that were in stock and ready to ship were actually not in stock, and production would have them ready by march of next year. Fanatec has serious production and logistics issues that they should be ashamed of. I lost $250+ of savings on an order and 4 weeks of my time due to their incompetency.
I hope they put the csl clutch pedal kit on sale (yes i run the good ol throttle and brake pedals) even tho its only $40 id rather wait and see if they throw it on sale. Also do u have any plans for reviewing Nlr's new cockpit the gtracer? Would love to see one of your reviews on that!!

Cracking deal, in terms of bang for buck.
Definitely looks like they're phasing out the DD1/DD2 with the new CS DD/DD+ coming out. Makes me wonder if there's a new Podium wheelbase coming, or if the DD/DD+ is the actual replacement (which would make sense in terms of specs, but is a bit weird in terms of branding, unless Fanatec just aren't gonna bother with "Podium" anymore or something).
Hopefully there will be a new Podium base *and pedals*, heh. I've just bought a set of VRS pedals and am no longer in the market, but I would've got Fanatec Podium pedals if they existed and were competitive, just to simplify things on the game/driver side and use one less USB socket. The Fanatec V3s weren't cutting it anymore. (Now I just have to take my rig apart and install the VRS pedals...)
Yeah I have no idea what they are doing with regards to new bases or pedals, I've tried contacting them a few times about review units but they are not replying to my emails which is odd as they usually include me when launching new products for review.

Quick question - how easy is it to change the wheel from the polyphony wheel that it comes with? Do I just require the wheel or is the additional podium hub required too?

Podium hub is needed if you're using a real wheel, all Fanatec wheels will just se their QR.

I have to pop the top off every 6 months or so and clear the static build up but it takes 5 mins to not bother.... or I'd have replaced it with something else!

As soon as I saw the V2 popped up, I had to order the DD2 with the McLaren wheel and the v2 pedal. I am now hoping the McLaren wheel is not going to be in the next deals 😂😂😂

It’s good deal, but old tech now. The new DD+ has continuous torque, which apparently is so much better than old peak torque wheels like this one. But yeah crazy deal! I drop mine to 8nm every time, who drives with this much power lol
I'm guessing they're clearing old stock to make way for the new DD and DD+ and I'd be willing to speculate they're working on a new Podium series base that uses the same tech as the Clubsport bases.
i have the csl dd wheel and v3 pedals shifter ect and i have some issues where my wheelbase isnt detected i fix it then couple days later some other issue arises so i dont really trust fanatec so much it has too many issues imo but i am still thinking this is such a good deal that im tempted to buy it i am thinking either i buy this wheelbase on sale or purchase the asetek forte wheelbase and hopefully be able to use my fanatec pedals and shifter the sale ends soon so idk

I just preordered the DD+ at 999 and I feel a bit robbed lol. However, Will fro Boosted Media reviewed the DD+ and said it was a bit better than the DD2 cuz the 15Nm is holding torque and it is supposed to be smoother.
Yeah, but you’re buying 2018 tech too with the dd2. I wouldn’t feel bummed, your getting the latest internals. 15nm is truly the sweet spot. I believe will said the 15nm dd holding torque/slew rate is comparable to a 18nm-20nm base, like moza r21.
@@Jason-qw2mg yes exactly I watched the whole review. Even the CSL DD motor was newer technology and a bit better. This deals shows they are trying to get rid of their stock and stop making them.
Hell, I feel robbed even though i bought my DD1 8 months ago at full price lol. You can cancel pre-orders pretty easy. The DD+ is probably easier to flip if you ever have to resale though since its console compatible. Honestly, 'feel' wise you really can't go wrong with any high end wheel imo.
@@Zedgo99 that is the reason I went with the DD+ and not the DD. I dont regret my decision. The 15Nm holding torque is said to be similar to 20Nm peak which I would never use anyways. So I would rather get better smoothness and motors and the True Force could be a plus as well.

They are doing this because they are probably going to drop new DD1/2 Podium level equipment based on their new wheel tech in the smaller bases.

one thing a do see is ASETEK dont seem to do round wheels its like GT3 or open wheel STEERING WHEEL you need more choice like FANATEC have.

I’m a little confused though. If Fanatec already have 25NM wheelbase, why would they be releasing a 15NM wheelbase in December? Is it simply because some people want more then 8Nm but don’t want the 25nm just be don’t need the extra and more cost? Or is there something special that the 15NM does that the 25NM Podium doesn’t do?

@@grahamkelly8662 the torque on the newer wheelbase is more consistent and will continue to be around 15 during a long race or session whereas the older wheelbase only peaks at 25 and will drop as the motor heats up

Im actually disappointed by this sale. The CS DD a DD+ are going to be faster, more detailed and just as powerful as the DD1. Slightly less powerful than the DD2. No doubt this is a great deal for those looking to upgrade power wise but Fanatec is doing this to get rid of inventory and its only a matter of time before they release the Podiums DD1 and DD2 replacement.
I was hoping for some wheel and hub deals to go with the DD+ I ordered. Preferably bundles with the new QR2 quick release
@KarlGosling Is the DD2 a poor wheel compared to the Invicta or the SC2 Pro? Asking because I'm wondering if it simulates the feeling of a real car as well as the other two. I'm concerned about the lower slew rate, magnetic notchiness, and outdated tech, for the most part.
I cover this in the video mate, it's not as smooth or detailed but your be hard pushed to tell unless you were testing back to back... For the money it's impossible to go wrong IMO.

Why are you bound mate? You can use any wheel, pedals, shifter from any other manufacturer, there's even adapters to use Asetek stuff!

This just proves they don't rate their old Podium series anymore. They want to get rid of stock, then launch a new Podium series with the new tech in a year, I personally wouldn't buy this old stuff now, nobody needs 25nm, rather get less force with better details
It doesn't prove anything, they need to move forward as all manufacturers do, the new FullForce is their selling point now and these Podium bases do not support it so they have to go.
Many people like big torque bases, but I agree nobody really needs it.
Less torque does not mean more detail, often the opposite in fact, slower response speeds.
A poor financial decision has just been made. Small upgrade from the Logitech Drive Force GT that i’ve been using for the last 4 years.

Some of the deals are a complete con, for example, if you try to purchase the porche rim there are other components you will need to buy that are necessary to be able use it, then once you have added said items the prices are exact to the penny as they would have been on any other Friday. Dirty, Dirty business.
