Thanks Bob for another very informative video on the calibrated jamb peg faceting. Sadly Bhandasa is not making the machine you are now using any more, but hopefully my home made machine will do the job.
Hi Gary, didn't know BHandasa wasn't making the machines, I know they were quite expensive. The Som machine from Kalpana, India is similar. As long as you are not trying to do competition type cuts I think you will be surprised just how easy it is to turn out good stones.
Hi Bob nice video, can you explain more about the numbers on the dip stick what they all stand for interms of which facets the numbers represent,I also acquired a jampeg
Hi Bob, I am chasing parts for a Jamb Peg for a lady. She said there is a horizontal bar with a cheater. Also a piece with a clip on the bottom. Can you please help, even just some good pictures of them would help. Regards Paul
Hi Paul, the only item that matches your description is the table cutting attachment, and only fits the Israeli or Som machine and only available from KMT, kmtjaipur.com/som-brahm-index-head/ I have a website, bobsjambpeg.com/ may give you a better idea of what she needs.
good morning Bob Lakey, I'm starting to work with lapidation, using a machine similar to the one you use in your videos, I had a lot of doubts and I got in touch with another lapidary and he showed me his videos. I watched it and found it very explanatory, really good, but I still have doubts and I would like to know if you can help me with them. Décio Tadeu Machado Lago From Brazil
You must have been doing gem faceting awhile. And I will bet you say that jamb peg is the best and only way to go-looks like it is not for a novice unless the novice has a private tutor named Bob Lakey! Fine job!
@@boblakey1359 The main thing I recall from around 1980, I believe I had a graves mast machine, is that the mast has flex and that's where skill has to be developed. This peg process seems allot faster, and more accurate?. I see you also had some left-hand down pressure? Great video.

Okay-now I see the angle guide you are using--so your method has upgraded from completely impossible to extremely unlikely for me...ha ha ha!!! Actually it is simpler and probably not quite as difficult with some patience...Still, you should be very proud of your skill-most folks would shy away from precision handiwork and for you it looks like a challenge to see how many gemstones you can complete in a short time. Only a master gem cutter can work quickly as you do! You make it look so easy
Hello Bob, good morning! I hope to find you and your entire family at this time in perfect health, peace and prosperity. I'm a facet cutter in precious stones, I'm in Brazil, I'm looking for a machine like this to buy, it can be used, I don't have a lot of money, so it would be easier for me to buy a used machine, in good condition, and good price . I need to find someone who has one to sell and who will send it to Brazil. If you have any or know of anyone who does, please let me know, I will be very grateful and I can then send you some rough stones as a gift as a thank you. Greetings straight from Brazil Carlos
Hi, I have never seen a used jamb peg machine foe sale. The KMT Som machine is the same as mine and that is the one I would recommend. If you have a base you can purchase just the head, have a look at my website- bobsjambpeg.com
Very very good! I am a gemcutter from Brazil. Nice to meet you.
Thank you
That’s a nifty machine.
