Thanks for posting this video. I was a GM mechanic years ago and have been through my share of Q-Jets and Holleys. This was the first time tearing down my AFB and having the video certainly helped me avoid some mistakes. This carb had been sitting parked for 10 years and needed a refresh. I'll have to say that this is one of the easier carbs that I have been through. Thanks again!!!
Thanks Mike, great video. I have a Edelbrock-1813 800cfm to rebuild and this is helping. While spraying carb cleaner during an idle at the throttle linkage shaft/axle the idle would bump up. The shop said there is historically ALWAYS a slight leak there due to the throttle shaft and can be balanced with air/fuel adjustments. I just don't know it I should rebuild it now if the wear is too much. No way to tell I guess. I see you did not mess with the throttle shaft that runs the full width
When I took my accelerater pump nozzle apart the was a ball with a spring on top of it. Is this the way some are. Should I put it back to get her like the or just use the new needle check ball no spring
Mike, I just bought a 1979 F 100 that is in great shape. When I started it up when I bought it it ran out great no sputters or anything. The drive home was an hour with it. The truck hadn't traveled that far in several years. It made the trip just about the whole way and literally 5 minutes from my house it started dying at a slow down to stop the truck. What I have found out is the carb's choke flap is not closing and opening properly. I do not know a lot about carbs, but am learning from your videos. when I place my hand over the carb is idles back like it should, but I don't know if something is sticking causing it not to close? Can I shoot some cleaner somewhere that will do the job or what? Hoping you can help.
Hi Mike, I have this carb on my 350, have cleaned and regasketed, runs great, but stalls on sharp hard right hand turns. floods the engine as takes a moment to start. What do you think is at fault? Thanks.
@@MikesCarburetor Hi Mike, thanks for your help, stripped carby and the top gasket was broken, replaced, checked the body for warping, dead straight. Have tested it, seems to be fine now. Cheers Robert
@@MikesCarburetor what activates this Auxiliary air valve? Is it just the suction of air coming in at a certain throttle position? Or is there a spring opening it when it's at temp? Nothing appears to be attached to mine I feel it's acting like a choke.
