I actually bought this a while ago. Great plane, and I highly recommend it! The propellers are a bit weak, so I do suggest buying extra of them if you choose to purchase the plane.
hey kev. today’s my birthday and i got a traxxas maxx. thanks for inspiring me and getting me into the rc hobby. keep up the great work on your channel.
I have one of these and as you can see, great fun! Battery lasts about 20 mins for me. Had never flown before either. Really easy. Totally agree that it's great for beginners.
Most importantly, you looked like you had fun.. and lets be honest.. that should be the main reason we play with the toys we do, right? Was fun watching ya fly fixed wing. Thanks for sharing that!
For a 1s, that's not a bad amount of power, although like you probably saw, any amount of wind will take these things skywards. All about picking your flying times, but gusts can be a ton of fun with experience. Besides, wind and thermals are the very reason discus launch gliders even work. Great flying though, dude. For a first timer, that's not bad.
Absolutely not true man lol. I know I'm 3 years too late but I fly these things in 25, 30 mph wind and because of the self-stabilization they never flip
This is an amazing plane considering its size. Even in strong wind you can control it. Well worth the money for the enjoyment and flight time. I'll buy a 2nd one if i break it and put the electronics in another plane.
Love that, loads of field eh beginner, gets to trees, EXPERT MODE! I literally put my hand on my face thinking ffs Kev, I'm impressed you didn't crash though lol
Kev, remember that tiny FPV camera you have installed on that small crawler? You are again only one step away from flying FPV. The only thing to keep in mind the video transmitter generates quite a bit of heat so avoid using hot glue to install it on this lovely plane. You will be blown away the range should be around 2-300 meters with a 25mW AIO camera. There are several models running 200mW which should extend the range to up to 5-600 meters radius. Pls give it a try! (I have two flying wing style planes fully FPV. Never going back to line of sight flying after flying camera on-board.)
I used to fly 1/4 scale RC planes....it wouldn’t take you long to master fixed wing flight Kev understanding the air is crucial but that comes with time ❤️ well done
Funny, somewhere I mentioned this plane. It's dirt cheap, and it flies great. My youngest flew it at age 4. I take it to the airfield with me, fly bigger planes, if it's windy or I just want a blast I put in a battery oint the nose up, and throttle it up for release. This and their Corsair have been great, awaiting the Trojan. Nearly any noob can fly it out of the box.
I have one of these things. Took it out for the first time and even in beginner mode I simply COULDN’T get it to turn left. It would happily go right but not left. I saw it on the RCSaylors YT channel and (I know he’s a good pilot but) he made it look supremely easy.
@@sploogie5034 For what it is it works very great, haven't flown it in a while because I don't have the props and I lost the other ones. Other than the props being easy to lose (which is normal for all rc planes) it has a nice build quality and the gyro helps a lot. Also if there is a large crash where some pieces fall off they can be easliy glued back on. For me it was a great purchase and I highly recommend getting one.
Impressive that little plane, you did well flying it as well in that wind lol 😆. I’m liking the odd different RC’s you keep getting...! Great vid Kev mate 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️ Stay Safe
The Extra 300 you have might actually be easier to fly because it is heavier therefore more resistant to wind. I would get a simulator too so you can practice and crash without losing any money!
Hi Kevin, That is some very interesting flying there indeed. I was actually wondering if you ever considered getting a UMX plane. As a challenge, I thought it would be interesting to see you trying to fly a UMX plane around that park without crashing it. Also, for an extended challenge, perhaps you could try to fly a UMX EDF jet in the same area and see if you can keep it in one piece. As far as I know, the UMX Mig-15 (either the old red one or the new silver one) is the only real safe EDF jet in the UMX series that you can take to a park like that. This is primarily because it is slow lightweight and doesn't have a sharp nose. These planes are typically sold on eBay around once or twice a month.
£70 for a small plane that flys itself and in strong winds? Its cheap. The electronics are what you pay for. Take that out and its a £20 plane that you'll never keep in the air.
Nice to see you flying planes now Kev, great content. Would be nice to see that big Extra 300 up in the air once your comfortable flying the smaller ones. Nice :) Looking forward to the big one. Cheers Kev
It is, even with the build in gyro, harder to get into flying with this. Bigger planes are much more stable in the air, also wind dosen't effect so much like it does on such small planes. Perfect beginner planes are planes like skysurfer or bixler, this type of planes with the motor on the back. They can be very slow in the air, you can glide without motor, circle in thermals and because of the size they are much more stable an easyer to handle then such a small plane, even with build in gyro. Also you can build external gyro into every plane if you need that extra help. I use external gyros in every model as long as it is not a glider just for the extra stability. Cause on Gliders i need to see every movement they made to find thermals.
i hope the big one has flight stabilisation as well. or the maiden flight will b its last flight and we'll b singing "Those magnificent men in their flying machines. They go uppity up up, they go downtitty down down" all the way home lol
Good too see your starting to fly Kevin, brilliant iv been flying for years now, I'm on edf jets now , just building a 4s eurofighter typhoon 120mph+😁 would be cool and funny to see you guys fling a jet wold make a good video? Kind regards Jeff
@@hugore293 oh yeah for gliders wind and gyro is cool but I don't fly gliders, my slowest plane dose 178kph and iv been flying without gyros for years. Nothing against them though😁each to their own 👍
Hey kev, if your looking for a next step plane I would recommend the hobby zone sport cub s if you can find it. I would take the gps module out of it though cause if you do t calibrate it properly it will just fly away. I’ve had my cub for about a year now and I’ve crashed it into a curb, flown it into a tree and have stalled it into the ground plenty of times and it still flys.

The only complaint I have is when they say "six axis gyro". X, Y & Z are the only ones I know a plane has, so where are the others?
There are only three but an axis can be both acceleration (when you move in space) and rotation (when you turn in space but stay in the same spot)
