Very helpful, even to a dad of eight children! I've been so very blessed by Dr. Whitney's books and ministry. Practicing the "spiritual disciplines" is, by God's grace, the "channels" by which we are sanctified and by which we grow in holiness unto Christ, for HIS glory and for our good.
Wonderful interview. Haven't read the book. I began praying the bible a while back and it has definitely enriched my prayer life. God's word is alive and active.
HelpMamaRemote thanks! If you have some time to read the book, he gives really good exercises and examples to work through when praying the Bible. It's so helpful!!
Hi Jami, Thank you so much for recording this conversation with Donald Whitney. I am planning to teach about spiritual disciplines based on his book and ventured onto the web to find a video like this to use as a starter. This is exactly what i was looking for. Just imagine how you and Donald Whitney stand to bless others you will never meet just because of this video.
Loved this so much!! I I need to check out these books. I just got glimpses of grace that you recommended a while back. I just started my channel so I'm currently trying to find balance in that with my babies. This season can be overwhelming but it's so rewarding too. Love your ministry so much!!
Intentionally Made yay! You will love these books :D and I totally know what you mean. Some days are just utterly overwhelming! That's why it's so important to remember our big priorities 💖
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7) Without prayer and communing with God my Father, I can not endure this life. I must have His help. I must be met by Him and strengthened and comforted by His presence. Prayer/communing with Him is a must. After a silent time with Him, I am enabled by Him to press on in this strange and difficult earthly life. "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you." (James 4:8)
I believe spiritual discipline is difficult while raising children and myself having a marriage that was not good so I did what I could but now that I have much more time on my hands I discipline with my daily life the best way I can and when silent free time I appreciate my iPad because I can put on good Biblical ministries of one kind or another instead of watching TV, playing endless games, or gossip sessions as satan would rather me use those hours for useless things for eternity but it’s amazing how things stick when the Holy Spirt leads so I share with a personal ministry of my own, FB, emails, person to person talks etc. so since that time I feel I am working out my salvation until I see Jesus. Jesus understands our demands and tight schedules.
