      I love the EZ-8, but you can't argue that the MKII was hands-down the most effective mobile suit with the longest service record and best sortie record.

      I agree. It doesn't have any weird gimmick, but it ut still excels as a generalist unit. Aesthetically it is us basically perfect. It us so good that Banagher Links still uses one so many years later.

    You got some things wrong. The MK-II's movable frame wasn't used in development of the Nemo. It was used for the GM III. The Nemo's movable frame was actually based off a mix of the Rick Dias's build block frame, which descended from Axis Gaza designs, and the Delta Gundam's movable frame. Despite external similarities between the Hyaku Shiki and the MK-II, the Hyaku Shiki's movable frame isn't based on the Gundam MK-II. Some MK-II data went into it's external design. But for the most part, the Hyaku Shiki is just a simplified Delta Gundam. It's frame uses a design descended from Zeon technology. Anaheim's problem was that they were too focused on a transforming unit, while the Titans were focused on a general purpose design. The Gundam MK-IIs were also test units, and not originally intended to be fielded for battle. They were only really made into Gundams for the sake of appearances. Compared to the RX-78-2, the MK-II also suffers from being less adaptable, less durable, and it's vulcans aren't even built into it's head. And the GM III later on pretty much successfully mass produced all of the best attributes of the Gundam MK-II, without breaking the bank. The movable frame of the MK-II also had major issues with over-complexity. The legs in particular had structural issues. That's why units like the Jegan later on had very simplified frames.

      As a UA-camr, I'm getting used to being told I get things wrong 😆 but the concept of the moveable frame was used in the Nemo, which first came from the MK-II.

    • @Felix24148
      @Felix24148 3 дні тому +1

      @@GundamExplained No, the concept of the movable frame dates back to the GP project, and then following that, the GM Quel. The GP series of Gundams had early partial movable frames. And the GM Quel's arms are early type movable frame. The Gundam MK-II gets called a direct descendant of the original Gundam. But it's actually based on the GM Quel and Hazel series. Anaheim was working on their own movable frame with the Zeta and Delta projects at the same time. They used the basics of the MK-II to simplify the Delta into the Hyaku Shiki. It's also rumored the Titans based some of the MK-II's technology off of Anaheim technology from the GP project. It's suspicious that the GM Quel had a partial movable frame when it was developed right after the GP project. The frame of the MK-II was used more for development of the Zeta Gundam. But the Nemo is actually based off the Zeon style movable frame of the Delta. Which is very ironic, because the Marasai has a very Federation style movable frame. The Nemo looks like a GM on the outside, but the inside is a mix of Federation and Zeon technology. So much so, it's parts were compatible with the old Zeon Gelgoog. The Nemo's exterior is based on data from the GM II and GM Sniper II. But inside it's a Delta-based MS.

    • @GundamExplained
      @GundamExplained  3 дні тому

      @Felix24148 yes, when it comes to lore, it's easy to split hairs with what did what first and how. The GP project didn't have a complete movable frame. That was the MK-II. And considering the consolidation of Zeonic, Zimmad, etc into the Federation, technology is being shared at all times. But if I was to caveat every piece of lore with a technicality, it would be a different video.

    • @Felix24148
      @Felix24148 3 дні тому +2

      @@GundamExplained I didn't say the GP project had complete movable frames. I said early partial movable frames. Which coincidentally the GM Quel also had. Also, Anaheim didn't get all of Zeonic. They got all of Zimmand, but only half of Zeonic. You won't find that on the wiki. But the canon manga MSV-R The Return of Johnny Ridden points out that the Federation and Anaheim were in a massive bidding war for Zeonic after the war. The company got split in half, with the Federation and Anaheim each taking half the assets and facilities. Likely it's thanks to that the Federation put the MS-11 Act Zaku into production for themselves, and then later developed the Hizack. A lot of people think Anaheim developed the Hizack. But it was actually the Federation. They just contracted Anaheim to produce it. And honestly, the Gundam MK-II's movable frame was rendered obsolete pretty fast. It was too complex for the materials it was made from, so Anaheim simplified it as much as they could, and then developed the Jeddah, which is the real GM type descendant of the MK-II. Not the Nemo. Anaheim tried updating the Nemo, and created the Nemo Rimes, which blatantly rips off the GM III. Speaking of the GM III, to create it, the Federation put the GM II through movable frame conversion. And the GM III has performance near identical to the Gundam MK-II. Better in some ways. It's only downside is it's heavier. The Nemo and Jeddah both contributed to development of the Jegan. Which became the Federation standard for nearly 30 years.That's how the MK-II's linage actually goes through it.

    It is interesting that despite the power output of the Gundam, the rifles they use can't be recharged by the reactor, even through the hand.
    Also, by UC's logic, the Abrams tank can generate enough power to power a beam weapon as the main weapon.

    • @ahmadshaffibinramli9395
      @ahmadshaffibinramli9395 4 дні тому

      bigger power output= longer time to recharge.
      the Gundam itself is a technology revolution for MS warfare. the beam rifle should have rechargable port for beam rifle through hand. but it was 0079 and it was newly tech for MS warfare. also recharging would take longer time and you can only rely on vulcans and beam saber (both melee and mid range for defense)
      on other hand M61 tank is a lower output to generate beam weapon. but not as powerful as Gundam which have capacity to destroy an MS within a single shot. remember, Gundam can hit a ship and MS within a single shot or multiple shots.
      later UC. E-Pac was invented to counter these problems. instead of recharging beam rifle, better changing magazine like a machine guns. give more capacity and ammo to use in warfare.

    • @WolfeSaber
      @WolfeSaber 4 дні тому +1

      @ahmadshaffibinramli9395 Higher power output logically means shorter recharge time. Plus, the Abrams has a power output of about 1,120 kw, past the 1 MW limit to power beam weapons.

    • @justpassingby298
      @justpassingby298 4 дні тому +2

      Gundams can't power their beam rifles. They have charged e-caps (later e-pacs) that were charged in the ship/base they're stationed in.
      The RX-78-2 could not just grab an empty beam rifle and use it. Later MS used e-pacs which were basically ammo packs to make this "charging" faster. And things like beam cannons tend to have a dedicated generator, or just an immense reactor in the first place.

    The very existance of Project V, and Gundam by extension turned the tide of the entire war. Gundam kept Char restrained. Without it, Char would likely run rough shod over the federation till at least July or August 0079, thats assuming there's another federation pilot that could contain an Ace of his caliber. Additionally with Char killing the Zabi's he hamstrung the Zeon war effort.

    So here's some additional info, the mark 2 was practically just a test machine for the movable frame and its actual performance wasnt that good.
    The mark 2 was purely designed by earthnoids but the titans weren't above using former zeon engineers, the zeon engineers who didn't join anaheim joined the titans in developing mobile suits which is why most of the titans mobile suits in the later half were very zeon like.
    Lastly Anaheim also designed their own version of the movable frame which is used in the rick dias, who Anaheim originally wanted to name gundam gamma(i hope i remember that right), but char said no because it doesn't look like a gundam.

    Just a small aside in terms of the pilots: It's interesting to think about how Amuro goes from a shut-in teen to an ace newtype pilot in the space of roughly three and a half months. Then when you look at Kamile, it's in the rough range of about six to seven months that he goes from a hot-headed teen to another ace newtype pilot.

    Æ love money so much they have suits planned for both sides.
    I don't think they did this for Zeon after Stardust, since a lot of suits are developed natively by their branches, but when it came to the AEUG and The Titans, the AEUG wasn't even an enemy of the state. They were just an off branch of the Federation they didn't care to get involved with.
    It's why I love the shady nature of both teams with Wong representing Æ for the AEUG to ensure the faction aligns with them.

    • @justpassingby298
      @justpassingby298 4 дні тому

      AEUG was originally a pseudo-terrorsit organization made by ex-zeon and federation desertere. They only got folded into the federation after the Titans debacle all came to light.

      it's widely forgotten, probably because in-universe it was put under the rug and covered up by the Federation themselves. The MK-2 was developed from the Hazel, which was developed from the GM-Quel, which was developed from the GM Type C/Kai and GM Custom. There's barely any developmental data used from the GP series, which is kinda sad.

    • @Vespuchian
      @Vespuchian 4 дні тому +1

      The GP series were sadly a dead-end, to say nothing of the general coverup after the Stardust Incident, although I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if components and minor details passed back to the mainline GM tree to end up in the Mk2 or Nemo.

      I think in a video by Kakarot197, it was mentioned that the MkII was so costly because all the cost of the GP series, whose data were erased as part of the cover-up for the Stardust incident, was pinned to its development. That includes the cost for the Dendrobium.

    The thumbnail should have Okawara's line art to be accurate with original UC lore. For a channel named Gundam Explained I think this is reasonable.
    This is because the original UC RX-78-2 lore that is discussed in this video is not shared with the GTO RX-78-02 currently depicted in the thumbnail.

    There were four Mk IIs, it was the unit I picked when I first played Dynasty Warriors Gundam on my mate's 360 as I thought "well, it's called the Mk II, it must be an uprate of the RX-78-2, it's literally in the name, this is Real Robot, that's how it works in real life, so it must work that way here"! That was my logic 16 years ago! Since then I've built the Real Grade of both TITANS and A.E.U.G. colours, two TITANS, one A.E.U.G., plan to do a kitbash with a second A.E.U.G. Real Grade I have, have picked up a third TITANS colours and now jus need a fourth for the set!

    then i tried following the recent series, which was highschool lesbian mecha pilots, with the depths of window condensation. all of which i just thought was bad. like a censored by 4kids version of a 2006 ecchi mecha show. or lower grade macross without the bard magic.
    since this is going to random its way into my feed, can someone make a suggestion as an intro watch order?
