Not to detract from the effects demo here, but referencing back to a previous comment I made, I sprung for an OB-6 and hearing this, I’m so happy I did. Can’t wait for it come in!
Fabulous, slick demo! And also some great insight into how you personally use these sounds for synth-based productions. Thank you so much for putting it all together and showing off these amazing pedals. I have a BigSky already, but I'm definitely keen on getting hold of this El Capistan pedal to keep it company!
Wait... so, the V2 pedals have nothing on the face to indicate that they're V2? You can't distinguish a V1 from V2 based on just looking at them? Am I missing something? (I have a Big Sky Midnight Edition, and was about to pull the trigger on something like a Deco or Ola or Time Line, but now am wondering if I should wait.)
The V2 pedals do look different! The El Cap has an extra knob for spring reverb and the Blue Sky has the extremely useful extra new shimmer knob, which allows for tons of new sounds the old one could not do
Wow 😃 if only you see my face at 2 17 😂🤩 what an Intro 👌 then at 27.27 😃 reminded me of the first time I hear Soundtrack on the R D50 💥💥💥💥💥 Absolutely Incredible Effects from Strymon 💯👌 and what a Beautiful Video and Demo this is 💯👌 Fantastic 🤩 🙌
Absolutely incredible sounds and overall production quality! Seriously. I’d suggest a different thumbnail as something about it didn’t give me the impression these were the new pedals and I scrolled past it so many times. I realize it says “new” in the thumbnail and title lol but “PEDALS” is really the focal point of the thumbnail and the rest of the info didn’t cut through during scrolling.
Good question! Software reverbs and delays have gotten so good, for example Valhalla. But I do think that they are still just slightly behind the best of the best hardware, but it’s close. The main reason is the tactile hands on feeling let’s you get to where you want to be going much quicker, because you get you play the pedal like an instrument and trust your gut. For example, I’ve always hated getting perfect vocal reverb, until I got my pedals. Now, it’s really easy cause I just close my eyes and twist knobs with the vocal sending to the pedal til it feels right!
How do you have these set up with your DAW in this video? Are you just running the OB-6 into the Strymon's then into the Audio interface? So glad you can MIDI clock sync these v2 versions to a DAW now. Always loved my El Cap v1 but sold if off because of that. I'll be getting both of these. Thanks for the great demo!
Thanks for watching! For your question, I run a virtual stereo output out of my UAD Apollo interface so that I can use my pedals as a 100% wet send from my DAW. That’s how every sound you heard in the demo song including the Kontakt banks and my drums were processed with the pedals!
Damn, never thought i needed the Capistan. I own an OB-6 and it's begging me now to buy it. Was actually looking around for strymon deco video's. By the way, how do you record your synths? Do you record them with all the effects on it?
Thanks for watching! It's a match made in heaven :) if you buy it, please use my affiliate link in the description so I can continue making more of these videos! Your question: I either record direct, OR usually I run a virtual output from my Apollo as a bus send from Logic into the pedals, then record them 100% wet, so I can use my pedals on anything in my DAW like vocals, soft synths, vsts, etc
@@MilesAwayOfficial Thanks for the answer! Will definately think about it.. So if i'm correct, you send a signal out from your DAW to the line outs from your apollo into the pedal? And back into the apollo again? That's why it sounds so clean.. damn. I have to try it out with my reverb pedal aswell. Do you also use an additional ad/da converter for more inputs over Adat?
@@Matt-Horizon sorry about missing this Matt! Bingo. That's exactly my workflow, it's really like having pedals as a send bus inside your daw, so sick. No additional ad/da converter as I have the apollo x16. I just never do more than 2 stereo pedal busses as sends at a time. Did you end up grabbing either of these or something else?
hello ! I love your videos thank u, Can I ask u a question? You just need a Stereo 1/4 inch TRS to dual 1/4 inch cable. Go out of both stereo inputs on your synth into the single TRS stereo input on the pedal and make sure the stereo switch is checked
great question. If you want weird experimental/noise, go Echo Dream 2. If you want something that will sound beautiful on literally any source and work in more situations, then El Cap 100%. The fact it's stereo too is the best. If you buy it please use the affiliate link in this description :)
Oh god, the demo! Release it already! It’s just perfection 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️
Glad you enjoy! It will be for sure in my patreon, I might add it to one of the releases too - not sure yet. Thanks!

Hype! Excited for you!! The OB-6 is so incredible sounding, and pairs with these two Strymon pedals like peanut butter and jam :)
What a great dreamy vintage pad intro. Very tasteful editing of the parameter.
Thank you kindly!

Wow those devices are amazing 🤩
They are pretty special pedals! Glad you enjoyed Josua
That demo song goes crazy. Big early Odesza vibes 🔥
Thank you! I know its an old video but the song will eventually get a release in a new form on my Miles Away artist page :)
If you ever get a chance to put your OB6 through an Ultrasheer Reverb / Vibrato....Epic times for sure! ;)
Ooh haven’t tried that one! Will keep an eye out. Thanks for watching Sarah!
Fantastic sounds dude!!
Thanks a lot!
Are the big pedals getting the V2 treatment (eg. Big Sky, Timeline, Volante, etc) or just the smaller ones like these?
Nothing has been announced other than the 6 V2s they already just released, so not to my knowledge!

Love these!
Much love!
Great video. Really helpful. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it Stuart! New pedal and synth videos weekly
Besides the tactile interface and live performance considerations, do you find any compelling reason for these over software reverbs and delays?

Great video as always! Can the el cap still go 100% wet so you can also use it as a tape emulator?
