I did this track, luckily I made it but these people ahead crashed, I curbed someone how, however, my mum, my friend, and my friends mum weren’t that fortunate. They crashed into the slow pokes. I literally went forward and heard screams so loud. I someohow finished this track when I was 11.

Love the little stamp on his right hand. They give you that stamp to prove that they have shown you how to brake. If you go too fast and stack it, well that’s your own stupid fault mate - you knew how to brake.
There’s no suing for compo in NZ which is why such fun is available.

I went on this when I was 15 years old, although I remember there was a fork in the track at some point with an advanced section you could take that went down a steep section where you got mega speed. I'm now 46, and going back there in June. I can't wait.

Decades ago, my daughters and I rode the luge and I came around the bend at the top of the steep section and there were two teenage girls stopped at the bottom, blocking the track and there I was, coming down on them like a dive bomber. They heard me screaming and scattered, leaving just enough gap for me and my vapour trail to get through. They showed up behind me at the drop-off point and there wasn't a lot of eye contact from them.
Great fun, all the same and my daughters and I nearly blew our budget on the ride.

Ridden this as long as it's existed. What you are watching is the "modified", or "safer" track.
In the early days at the top there was a serious Air Drop that went to a decline which accelerated the carts to warp speed. Then you had 2 options, to take the next right hander in the Fast or Slow lane. Adrenalin junkies took the "fast" option, those who shit their pants after the dropoff and decline took the "slow" option to take some pace off.
Had a few crashes myself, mainly from inexperienced or young kids being stopped or having a meeting between themselves on a blind corner.
Skinned the side my left leg from ankle to knee once, took 2-3 months to heal.
i'ts still great fun, and we ride it whenever we are in the region. You just keep going back.

I went on this thing a few years back. At the time for an extra couple of dollars you could have another go. what the video does show is how bumpy the track is & the carts have no springing. time i finished my legs were like jelly & I could hardly walk & as I literally crawled away the guy in charge of the track called me back to remind me I was due a second go, I declined. But a great experience anyone under the age of 60 must give this a go.

I did this with my uncle who was in his mid-60s at the time so you have no excuse. If you get down that way seriously do it, it's a blast. You may wanna stuff a couple socks or something into your drawers, it's a little rough on the tailbone I won't lie. But 100 percent worth it.

Oh man this looks like so much fun...and no, ''Alpine Sleds & Alpine Coasters'' are not the same thing in North America. For those who've never tried the ones at ski & mountain resorts in the USA & Canada:
* You don't get to steer the cart.
* You don't have a range of speed (unless you want to argue there's a difference between moderately slow and even slower)
* You don't get to race against anyone.
* Most of the ''ride'' time is being pulled up a very gentle inclined cable lift as you're strapped into your cart (or in some cases the carts are waiting at the top of the hill already).
* It's the adult version of those 'Old Timey' cars in amusement parks where you're on a track slowly watching the scenery go by as your kid has a blast thinking that they're ''driving'' the car. Only in this case it's some adults who think it's the best thing in the world as they ''drive'' their carts, meanwhile their teenage & young adult kids take a nap in the cart behind. (For the record, there's nothing wrong with the experience, it's just important to know it's a very tame and scenic experience more than a thrilling one). :)
