Not at all surprised that this legend shows up asap with a motor and refuses to take money for it. Man there is a LOT of us out here that want you to know that your content is important to us. George cold revving his truck and spilling the motor on the ground was still one of the funniest things I think I've ever seen.
I'm sure you're aware of this, but the most over looked area when a engine eats a bearing, is the oil cooler. It's impossible to get all the metal out of a cooler.

What if you don't have an oil cooler? I'm wondering what percentage of people building LS engines are even aware of the oil barbell.
1/2 of the biggest contributor to cam bearing failure. I also wonder the percentage of people who build an LS, are aware of the cam retention plate, and it's built in seal. Out of all of the "junkyard" builds, how many people replaced the cam plate with a new one, and how many even looked at the barbell, let alone replaced it with a better one.

It's a good idea to weld a few rods in the outlet pipe of the turbo burn out vehicles. They do it in tractor pulling to prevent flying debris.

For many Motorsport bodies it's a requirement that a cross be welded into the exhaust outlet to catch any sheared off turbine wheels. Seen what they can do to the pipe, and seen them come out the exhaust - neither makes me want to see what happens when one hits someone in the face.

There are SFI certified exhaust housings that have cross bolts at the outlet...dunno if Precision got some of those
But well...the turbo fail was on a random turbo so the real deal would not do this before you get a ton of turbine wobble which might have happened to the blown turbo as well

My favorite part is that you buy stuff from fans. I can guarantee he loved giving that engine to you and will be telling that story forever! So damn cool. When i was going to races we always had a list of the drivers that would talk to us based of previous years and the ones that wouldn’t for various reasons. So awesome to bring good exposure to the sport. Please keep growing!!!!!!!!!
Sled pulling comps you have to have 3/8" bolts in an x pattern through the exhaust pipe, behind the turbo, to avoid launching turbine wheels into the crowd, might be a good idea on dedicated burn out cars like Rodney. Cheers Brother

Somebody get Colorado James to bring his truck for a burnout competition and fix up his engine and suspension a bit. The man just brought them the 5.3 the same day and handed it to them while refusing money. Awesome!

@@bustedknuckles6051 I would have liked to have a look at that crank! I spent 8 years looking at lunched Diesel engines all day and doing failure analysis on them. I've also seen my share of other trashed engines. Just from those bearing shells I would bet on trouble!
@@PhilG999 yeah you'd be surprised, being a forged billet crank they're alot harder than a standard cast diesel crank.

I think Cleetus was pretty much done with Leroy, he turned it into something he never even dreamed possible and ever since it’s been on the back burner. I think it’s laying around as it’s sentimental value is worth more than the car itself, and ol, Cleeter doesn’t want to let it go. Glad to see they’re going to stick the motor back in it though 👍🏼👍🏼

Ty needs to give the guys (George and Cleet especially) some welding lessons! Including how to set up the welder, change wire spools, etc. Bunch of years ago I was hanging out at a friend's place as he was unboxing his new MIG welder. He'd never used one (but could gas weld). Neither had the other three guys. So, over the course of several beers, I taught them all how to set it up and the basics of welding. They did OK for a first try, no stacking dimes though. The key to welding is practice practice practice!

Those were some toasty bearings... hard as mullet runs, don't see it lasting long. That crank should have been polished.
Polishing rarely fixes the geometry issues after a bearing spun that bad

My family has a little inside joke from when my brother took his 2wd blazer offroading and this little kids shout out at him "Hey mister, your bumper fell off", and sure enough it was about 10 yards behind the truck. Watching James (the guy that brought the motor) wheelhop his truck till his bumper fell off, triggered my memory of my family's joke, I was honestly crying from laughing so hard. Keep up the awesome content and for the community, please dont change, it is entertaining.

Cleetus many who i know have drilled oil hole to bigger in valve heads block so oil in flows faster down, and many have put bigger oil pump to get oil flow really fast so no more issues at oil cuts some point, but you can make it all how you wanted and those who use dry sump also have make bigger oil canal hole so that oil really moves around and all bearings get it all the time.
