- Thanks for watching.. This video is kind of a follow up to the Guardian Assault pack that I reviewed a couple weeks ago. Since I found this Helikon Tex I really wanted to dive into their lineup. The EDC Pack is good budget pack with 500 D Cordura, good building materials and sewing. In my experience every budget pack makes you make sacrifices. This pack makes you make several. Overall, a good buy but some may come away feeling like it comes up short.

HelikonTex; now I’m going down that/their rabbit hole. Good stuff! I especially appreciate the not-1000 denier stiffness. 500 is plenty good for us weekend warriors & urban folks. Price can’t be beat.

I am building three car bags for my family and came across this bag when looking for a budget bag to stay in the car. They also have an EDC Lite that looks similar to this one. I would love to see you do a vs comparison between the two. I really enjoy your reviews so keep it up. Tks

hey george, i have a suggestion/video idea for you: since all these packs have the pals webbing all over them, maybe review a collection of molle compatible pouches and water bottle pockets and see how they look/function on the various bags. love the channel btw, your reviews are getting better and better!!

They put loop as the backing in the first compartment but not in the main compartment. If both compartments were loop backing then you could add stuff like the laptop sleeve in the Vertx or any number of admin panels or admin bags like 5.11's AMP series. I would like to see loop as the lining for the pack in any place big enough to attach something, then all they have to do is get the pockets right and good straps.

I recently got this backpack because I wanted to update my prepping gear which was 8 or 9 years old. I got it in the Pencott Wildwood camo pattern which is excellent for North Louisiana where I live. I’m really impressed with this bag! I keep it in my truck and I’m using it for my “get home bag” in case the US is attacked by EMP’s and I got to walk all the way home from my job. About a 20 mile walk. Yes I’m one of those crazy prepper guys lol! I got my bag pretty stuffed with things that I might need but I’ll adjust my bag to the circumstances when the time comes. I’m trying to keep it as light as I can. I’ll also have a ammo bag across my belly with 4 AR mags and 8 Glock mags. Hopefully a show of force will make any bad guys on the road decide the juice isn’t worth the squeeze.
I'm a prepped to a point but I need to invest in a proper setup.. Be safe ✌🏾

Put a small carabiner on the outside drawstring to stop you worrying about your jacket etc disappearing when trekking.

Thanks for this review. I was about to order this pack and needed to know what the inside looks like. The HT site shows an organizer panel on the velcro, they don't say that it isn't included. I'm still debating the EDC vs the Bergen, each has points in its favor.
I ended up ordering the Bergen. I figured out I was trying to configure the EDC with three external E & E pouches (at $40 USD each) - essentially turning it into a Bergen but with a higher price tag. The prices on the main site in Poland listed the Bergen at $115 - $117 but when I checked out it cost $96, must by the EU VAT. Anyway, I ordered it last Sunday night and received it yesterday. No idea how that happened but I'm really impressed with the service and the pack itself, it's well made with quality materials. External pouches will be easier for me to get to the things I need most often or in a hurry without scrounging through the main compartment.
Worth this helikon edc over raccoon mk2 for edc, city, for outdoor in the second place?

This is an awesome bag for $50. Great find George. An option... You can always put your laptop in a sleeve in the main compartment.
By the way George, your partner on Naked and Afraid would kick you out of the two-man squad for showing up with an empty EDC.

@@GeorgeDEFINED I guess that's some "George effect", since guys who don't particularly like molle seem to gather around here. The lite version looks neat also because of the bottle holders, but I'm not really sold on the material. That's why I would like to hear what you say about it.

anything can be attached to PC ;). if all else fails, zip ties are your best friend ;) .
Use Helikon Backpack Insert if you need laptop sleeve.
Now there 80$ plus. Sucks cause I like the Mollee but I cannot stand when I bag is covered in that mollee. Unless your being deployed or specifically keeping it for a go bag or some type of work or hiking your not gna use it. Or I won’t. But having the ability is important this is great. To much now though

Having spent up to 400$ in the past for triple aught fast,I start to believe that "low budget" edc rucksacks like this helikon tex and similar,are just normal priced while loads of the high-end ones are simply overpriced.

I think your reviews are great . But I disagree about the laptop compartment. The fact that it is minimum is a plus for me many many bags have laptop foam that just is dead space for me . If you need a laptop bag there are a million bags out there . Usually cut and butcher out any laptop sleeve, even expensive bags the first thing I do is cut out foam bulky sleeves. Am I the only one ? Looks a great bag , but in a small bag like that those compression straps would have to get the scissors treatment for the minimal effect.

You didnt tell us if you survived Naked and Afraid. I believe if youre a company and you put EDC in the title of the product, it should meet the needs of all potential users. Not having a laptop sleeve is a big misstep even if it is a budget backpack. You should have a head-to-head comparo between this bag and the Direct Action Dust. Oops, my bad.Thanks for sharing. One.
