Japanese people are so reserved that you don't normally expect people to engage in small talk. Which is why this is surprising and also cause she said it the same way as the guy in the Chris video.
Oh, I didn't even think about her just simply thinking that he's A Vtuber, and not just her knowing who he is and that he looks familiar. :p (I don't think we can even normally see all that stuff from our perspective, but... yeah. :? I know Connor isn't especially proficient in the Japanese language but it sure is cool seeing him communicating with people using what he's learned. I've been learning German in school for a few good years now and I don't think I could make my way around this well in a german speaking country. Wouldn't even be too impressive because all of them know English, bastards
This is a meme in Sweden where people come to learn through using, and most Swedes will swap to English the moment you struggle. Just assume that they want to be understood and continue speaking!
Being on the country is amazing for learning the language via hearing, forcefully speaking and repeating daily the words and then you climb up the stairs of course it's hard but he's been in Japan for a while now while studying he knows how to move around would be the same thing with you if you are 2 years on Germany
@@alxcrvs1908 thats how i got better with english. Sure my gramma is sometimes still garbade (mainly becasue german and english gramma are very different) but i can confidently have a conversation with people without any struggle.

The Japanese Connor spoke here is something you can easily "master" in a 2 week vacation. It just requires making a fool of yourself a few times and you eventually build up an understanding.
Buying stuff in Japan is super easy even with totally broken Japanese. They make the process very hard to screw up. I even bought train tickets to Himeji from Tokyo despite completely botching the whole process (they ask WAY too many questions like what kind of seat you want, etc.). They are very patient.

Wow, i didnt know they have a store in japan. They also sell buckets of bite size cookies that you can only get during December as like little christmas gift but those buckets are addictive.
