I'm an 18-year-old guy, and I've always felt sad about not being able to enjoy Radiohead consciously when they were actively making music. I'm really grateful for The Smile because I feel like I've finally found a 'current' band whose members I can follow actively, and whose music I truly love.
This makes me think how lucky I am to have seen them live three times. Don't worry, Colin Greenwood said they recently all met for a jam session. Pretty sure Radiohead haven't finished making music.
Same happens to me. I was 14 when they launched AMSP, I enjoyed it, but I missed the chance of going to a RH concert when I was 17. Now I’ve been following The Smile since Thom played Free In The Knowledge in the Royal Albert Hall and it feels amazing. Happy to share this feeling with you!
But think of how great it is to enjoy Radiohead or the smile at all. Most people don't. I'm in my 40s and just started getting into Thom Yorke and Radiohead and I can't stop smiling.
They've squeezed an incredible amount of quality music out in two years, not one mediocre song yet. Incredible achievement. The nearest we will get to the prolificness (and genius) of The Beatles putting out Rubber Soul/Revolver/Sgt Pepper's between 1965 and 1967.
An oldie joining in. I was a huge Radiohead fan in the 90s and just found this music thanks to my 16 year old son that was turned on to Radiohead from me. A perfect circle we made. I love this!

Best moment of this song begins at 1:38 ''they snort and then they hoot'' with the descending backing/leading guitar on your left ear, the drums joining in after and specter sounding thom singing ''slipping in the mud'' harmonizing with the guitar for a small eargasm. Outro awesome too
Wow, how the hell do they manage time and time again to create new interesting soundscapes, exciting arrangements and damn good songs without repeating themselves?! If Radiohead has gone to sleep for good, The Smile will be one of the last interesting and always relevant bands left
Colin Greenwood recently was on a podcast/interview and he said that about 2 months ago, the band got together just to play some of the old songs. He said "It was fun!".
@@theorangeoof926 Yeah, I though the same thing! Because they were influenced by Radiohead. Maybe Coldplay would've started out sounding a bit different (assuming the band would've still come to existence) But would they have had the same breakthrough, the same level of success without those first albums?
There is a mysterious, cold feel to this song that reminds me of Amnesiac. Thom's vocals are definitely different now though. There is a new soulful and jazzy energy that makes the new songs unique. I also really like that its a pretty restrained arrangement and doesn't go for a huge swell of emotion the way Foreign Spies does. It's a great choice for an album closer.
1:39 guitar riff reminds me of Call Me by Blondie. I love all songs in which Thom Yorke doubles his voice at the octave (I Will, The Amazing Sound of Orgy, CUTW…). It was on the now legendary Radiohead WIP 🚧 blackboard in 2006. The Supercollider era synth is back. Very groovy. Audacious but good choice to slow it down a bit.
This album is an absolute masterpiece, for those who love beautiful music, it will remain in our hearts and ears for a long time, Smile's music is evolution and not exaltation of themselves
I know not everybody hears it, but to those who do, Thom Yorke's voice just resonates at a deep, soulful level. He's like a vessel through which we can transmit -- and transcend -- those bundles of anxiety we carry around with us. And that's not to take away from Jonny & Tom, they're both amazing as well. But for me, it's Thom's ethereal voice that brings catharsis.

The Smile is amazing I’m glad we still have such refreshing music from Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood in the 2020s.

This is by far the best of all these weirdcore videos
It's like someone threw the game Hotline Miami and the movie Zombie 2 into an AI blender, and yet somehow it looks like people dancing. Its haunting.
I was deep into the thrash/death/speed metal scene when I got blown away by The Bends in the 90s. I never looked back since. Life changing band.
