- Found some 1800's maps of old san Bernardino and found an AWESOME discovery of a place I always visit that was once called Copia Ranch. I metal detect that and the surrounding areas to unearth a couple cool relics.

I like to imagine some poor man lost a hammer back in the day only for some random on a bike to come along and go “that shit must’ve been from the eighteen hundees” lmao
It was fate
@@bakerXderek hey thats a welding slagging hammer im pretty sure at least the head look likes a modern slagging hammer
@@bakerXderek that's a pick hammer for hard rock gold mining bruh, that's sweet for sure
Digs up iPhone 11:
"Yeah I'm not sure how old this is but I'm sure its old"
MY Iphone 7 must by ancient history
@@bakerXderek hahaha I was just fucking with ya. Love the videos, bro.
@@HxCMusicMaster CHEAH !
That looks like it could be a old welding pickaxe or a mining pickaxe its definitely a old relic and a great find
Yea even when i saw just the thumbnail i immediately thought chipping hammer for weld slag but i dont know
Totally a slag hammer
It's a welding hammer by the looks of it, for knocking slag off the weld.
That was my first thought.
Yep. Likely from the freeway build.
@David F Welders love to make their own tools, perhaps this is one.
Rock hammer. Just like the one Andy used in shawshank redemption.
What you found is a welders chipping hammer.
I'm dead probs not that old either unfortunatly
Was just about to say the same thing lol
@@anthonyakers6374 Has to be old that areas never touched. Cool to have someone know what it is though !
Considering where and when it's from I think it was more likely used for digging rocks.
Someone looking for minerals would use it to break apart rocks to see what is going on in the area.
actually, im pretty sure its an old shoeing hammer for horse shoes. look em up, looks very similar.
When you're detecting the locations of old homes, once you have found the foundation of the home, walk towards the back of the property to locate where a clothes line would be, coins drop out of pockets from lined dried clothes
I bought some shoes from a drug dealer.
I don’t know what he laced them with, but I was tripping all day!
booooo
You'll find that 1800s golden strilldo drilldo with all the attachments one of these days i believe in you 👌👌
I hope and I can make a vintage butt plug
Dude, you being so happy at finding a relic literally made me happy too! Nice job
I love old stuff
I am glad you started doing this.
We are learning some history, and treasure hunting.
All fun.
Great find. I like these videos with history info. Keep em coming 👍🏽
Your dedication to the history of San Berghetto is so cool
LOVE!!! The metal detecting vids mate.... never know what you're gonna find
They are great !
Such a good video man. This video hit home as my family and I used to live up at that property in the early 90's for about 4 or 5 years. The best most unique place I ever lived.Such good memories and such a good child hood on that propety.Thank you for sharing man.
Copia mansion was up the hill on the knoll overlooking highway 18, right before the turn to Arrowhead Springs. It was owned at one time by Huntington of the electric railway. The history can be found in Saga of the San Bernardinos by Paulette LaFuze. Where you are detecting is the old roadway up from Sierra Way before Waterman Ave was extended up the hill.
Not quite. It was actually a little bit farther to the east. After a LOT of research and talking with other historians, I found the actual foundation of the building that was in that old photo.
Its so cool to discover old history of your local area
The empty lot across from the Quik-E-Mart, next to the school, towards the top of Electric at Northpark used to be a gas station. Just below 40th, on Electric, across from the fire station, in the big triangle shaped field on the east side of Electric used to be a train station where they turned the trains around so the engines could push them up the hill. The whole green space that splits the street further south, after Electric turns into Mt. View is where the trains ran. Pics online.
Thanks for the glance at the original Rosa Maria’s as you passed by. I know you did that to tease me! 😜🤙🏻
Love the videos man keep it up 🔥🔥
Cheah !
My favorite part about these are seeing your in a sick cowboy hat
1:00 Nice seeing a MK4 R32 parked on the right side
Hyper smooth looks good 👍
Damn! I lived up in Crestline for two years and I would always pass that place every day going to work in the morning and coming back home in the afternoon and I didn’t know that was a ranch or else I would’ve hit that place up with my Garrett . Just moved out to Arizona I’m in the process of looking for some old empty lots to hit.
i went on that map site and found maps of my city from 1903 thanks for sharing that site
Yup, great for if you metal detect.
My dude.. time to up the intro featus.. err.. featuring the saduki with the drone ropes. Keep up the good shiz. I appreciate your content.
You should try the county auditor website. I don't know about San Bernardino but I used to use the one in Cincinnati for my old job. You could do a property search by address number. Each one has the property lines for each property in the area. You can see who owns it now as well as look ownership history and photos of the place. Just a thought happy hunting 👌

Might be a cool spot to check out and metal detect. My friends and I went up there before kinda a little ways off the road but not too bad.
I like the little history lessons in these videos. You really got me wanting to get a metal detector!! I’m just having trouble justifying spending that much money on something that my not be that great. Great video though!!
If you get the metal detector I have I can guarantee it's worth every single penny.
Been subscribed for a long time. Me and my wife are moving up to big bear in the next year.hope to see myself some derek
I found old shotgun shells in my backyard where an old firepit used to be. My house is where an old farm field was. I did find a tootsie toy car .
Keep them coming!!! I will have to get my metal detector out tomorrow I think! Thanks for the videos!!!!
I could seriously watch combined DR200 and metal detecting videos for hours every day. Shit's oddly fascinating.
You did better than me today. I was in an area full of melted cans. The 540 vanquish is pimp though.
crazy to see the city i live in on youtube love the content man and the history the bikes and metal detecting great content brother showing love for SB!!
I love historical sites 😎👌🏼 is so much history back in the days and that old hammer pick tool ⚒ is cool af at least you found that that looks very old hopefully you will find something thats worth the gem 💎
Hell ya man, I just got back from an awesome hunt, the next videos are gonna have ALL KIIIINDZ of finds !
that pick might have been used to made that rock wall in that ditch. seen some thing like it in making a rock wall in an old pbs show. they used it to chip off protrusion on the rocks so they would lay down better.
This makes me want to go metal detecting. I'm in North Carolina so there's a lot of history in the ground. More metal detecting videos pls. Cheah!
Dude I got all excited right before you found the beer can. I seemed like it would be a good find. You should be getting the package I sent you to help with your metal detecting.
cheah !
bakerXderek i finally hit up green spot jerky today their original is on point. It taste like a delicious aged steak 🥩. Btw when you get what I sent you make sure to check all the pockets so you see what it is. You can put your Dos Equis or water your choice hahaha.
makes me wanna do this in my town
"One of the cardinal rules of metal detecting is to always obtain a land owner's permission to search an area (if it's not public property where you know it's allowed), before you start swinging your detector. Metal detecting is not one of those situations where it's better to ask forgiveness than permission." Just an observation.
A couple of things. The Copia Ranch was NOT on that hill. It was a little farther to the east. I'm the one who originally uploaded those pictures of Copia Ranch and the railway on Electric Avenue, back when I had a website about local history on Geocities. I've been researching San Bernardino history since the early 2000's. Let me know if you're interested, I've collected a ton of old photos and articles over the years.
I love the vids man, I go metal detecting in SB too. Keep it up!
This was some dope history you taught us on this video, I always wondered what that spot on the hill was 👍
I love your videos man. Have you ever metal detected in Redlands? Seems like it'd be a great place, as it is just as old as San Bern.
Intro is doooope!
10:48 The exact same section of mountains in the pic is shown in the background of the video shot. Same angle too.
Yup
Nice Find
Thanks bro
Hi Derek, not sure if you are already doing this, but you should get a map of the city and mark out everywhere you have metal detected, to avoid going over the same place by mistake. Cheeeeah!
I like revisiting places because there's always stuff left behind :)
A little further down that first road you were detecting on is the ruins of Sammy Hagar's mansion. He was still living there in the 90's, but I don't know what happened to it after that.
Whaaaat ? I never heard of that !
Man I think you would metal detecting in WV in logan county where the Battle of Blair Mountain took place.
That Shawshank hammer though
Some old areas will be full of trash. Usually Iron. You can put your metal detector on all metal mode (no discrimination) and check. If there's rapid fire iron signals then your metal detector might have trouble picking out good targets. Some detectors especially the new ones are fast enough to see between some of the iron and get the good stuff.
I've been up and down Electric my whole life and never knew that was old train tracts there. Thanks, cool to know.
Ran all the way down to I believe 30th, I bet there's tons of rail spikes in the ground.
There was a station at 30th, but the train ran all the way to and from downtown. More info in my other comment here if interested.
@@bakerXderek It was originally an electric trolley line, built by the San Bernardino Valley Traction Company in 1906. It ran all the way from 3rd and D Street up to Arrowhead Hot Springs. The SBVT Co had trolley lines all throughout the valley in the early 1900's. I have found a bunch of spikes and tie plates on Electric Avenue and on the old right-of-way in the foothills. I've been researching San Bernardino history since the early 2000's, especially the north end. I have a ton of old pictures and articles if you're interested.
I always wondered what was at that house site since waaay back in the day. Ol' Copia Ranch hey. That's cool.
What you want to do is, try and find where the old outhouse/longdrop toilet was. People taking off their pants and that use to drop all kinds of things. It's where we search for gold nuggets. CheaH 👌🏼
hey derek love the vids. little tip dont leave the pan of your detector facing the sky it messes up the calibration! love the vids
That is a fence tac and it's like a nail for the fence but more like a staple.. Not sure when it was first thought about back in the day. Just thought I'd let you know
Yup, I posted a pic of just that in the vid with it.
Try Rosa Maria’s sometime. You passed it at 22:50. Bomb chili relleno with pork verde burrito.
I love it when he hits a new spot 😉
I found an old shotgun shell & an old rusty oil tool over in Borea Canyon not to far from this spot.
You mentioned a hitching post in the area, that's probably a badly eroded Farriers hammer, for shoeing horses.
Ya it's across the street from the hammer. The property owner there told me those are the original horse hitching posts and the well there too is from the 1800's
Not a Farriers. There is no flat face for hammering shoe nails. It's definitely a welders chipping hammer, and likely lost there during the freeway build.
Likely, that ranch site has been cleaned out hundreds of times. Find old rail stations. Figuring many thousands traveled annually, they had to go through a station or stop. You'll find a lot of junk for sure, but betting on how many people had to use those areas? Good place!
I actually was wanting to hit those dirt areas around the old train station downtown I bet that would have some real nice stuff.
You should metal detect the ski lift areas during the off season. Who knows if some rich dickheads dropped a rolex, it got covered in snow, and when the snow melted no one was there to see it. Go to places where they just had a gathering. A protest or concert, etc. People drop stuff. You don't have to dig for it. Follow big events with your metal detector. If there is a concert or gathering, go the next morning and see what is in the grass. Also man, I've seen here that McDonald's has loads of change at the pay windows. They just leave it. I wait until they're closed and drive over. Pick up $2-8$ every time. Every day. Random, I know. Ive gotten Wheaties that way. Thanks for the videos.
Dude there's a spot I know you can search in Berdoo!.... its in the Westside! Let me know if you're interested in the location, there's a story to that spot bro!
The flat head nails look like what we call in the UK clout nails or galvanized nails ,used to nail down roofing felt or some thin roofing material
Looking like the rick steve of san bernaghetto
Have you ever done anything on the big house at the corner of s.rancho Ave and Rialto St?
Got a question for you I know it depends on varying factors but around how much is insurance for the 06' ZX-10r im thinking about getting one but insurance quotes from Geico, Progressive, etc.. aren't really helping me much, any info is appreciated brother.
Does it rain in San Bernardino? When the ground is wet, you can detect deeper and the signals are much cleaner.
Been tryin to explain to ppl the vanquish is the deepest and best detector I’ve ever had
The price to performance is insane on this machine.
You ever get the gromski out anymore? I miss the little green 🍄 tip. It reminds me of my own.😂
Barely
More of these
Dude, I was born and raised in Saberdoo, has anyone ever metal detected under the Arrowhead?
HEY IM IN SAN BERNARDINO WHERE ARE ALL THE DETECTING SITES?
That U shaped thing was used for holding barbed wire or fencing up
Love this shit, you got me out here looking for shit now too.
7:33 👀cheahh👀
6:39 hahah, that's why he lost that hammer --- he was blind drunk
Whats this yellow suzuki your riding? Looks nice
Bring the nature vids back and look for a Tarantula, I had a Chilean Rose called Holly when I was a kid.
I'll look
What about the old watermen canyon summer camp
Looks like the first beer can says "club roller" on it, and the logo seems to be of a roller skater. Can't find any info on a beer like that though.
Could be either a welding hammer or a on old school soldering iron
The cap that you found with 5 holes in it is most likely a salt or pepper shaker
15:15 yikes
Live stream yourself going down that hole
Here in South Africa, theres this coin.. The Kruger Rand. That shits exxxtra valuable!
Give it a google
Damn those are like 1200-2000 dollhairs.
@@bakerXderek There was a craze a few years back when someone foumd some real old ones and ended up getting like 50k per coin👌
Slag hammer nice. Looks like one from the sixties.
A lot of areas with modern buildings and highways are gonna be hit or miss. Do to the fact they level out everything sometimes which means most of the good stuff is too deep or taken away in a dumptruck to fill a gravel pit.
yo I think that strap thing was an old school sickle
Andy Dufranes rock hammer he busted out of Shawshank with LMAO
@bakerXderek what's he nam of your outro song??
Wats the website again i gotta see were i live at of the history
You should try by lakes, where people fish. My grandpa found a lot of shit there by his place. He lives in like a wealthier place in illinois. He hasn't done it in a long time obv the older he got the less he cared about being outside to be fair lol.
That's the ol knee knocker 9000
Why don’t you do a history background check were people’s was digging for gold at and you go gold hunt for it
Yeah yeah I've been checking out your videos pretty good. How come you don't go metal detect off of the old route 66 right there on Kenwood you exit swing around to the left that was the old road that would come in the San Bernardino.
You should visit Perris it’s a 20. Minutes ride from you
Wow the first video I ever saw of yours was the secret homeless
Not a welding chipping hammer. The orientation of the flat rear is wrong. It would be up and down. I’d say old block hammer.
That's whats throwing me off too
you should go hit up the beach, Newport or Laguna and find you some Rolex or 18 carrot diamond :P
If you want a spot that I can almost guarantee you'll find something go down to Lake Elsinore. On Grand Ave. right around the corner from the mobile home park. This land was once owned by my family in the early/mid 1800's It's been mostly untouched since then.
There were 2 adobes there and the newer of the 2 was built by my ancestor. I believe he city owns the land and made no (real) attempt to save the family or local history of those adobes. Would love to see what you pull up there. The adobes were behind the trailer if it's still there. Here's a map. www.google.com/maps/@33.6629445,-117.3818204,213m/data=!3m1!1e3
Damn ! I'd love to check that out
@@bakerXderek drop me an email if you have any background type questions. Address is in business contact info
And that is a slag hammer. Says my ancient uncle who did rail road welding
If course he thinks magnets were invented by the government and aliens to track humans. I think he inhaled too many fumes.
