    The Trier wastewater treatment plant treats the wastewater of around 100,000 inhabitants. Sustainability is a very important aspect for the operators of the wastewater treatment plant. For this reason, the processes and systems at the wastewater treatment plant have been restructured since 2016. Among other things, a photovoltaic system and an outflow turbine were installed. The AI installed in 2017 helps the wastewater treatment plant to work more efficiently, saving more than 300,000 kilowatts of electricity per year. However, the optimal use of sewage gas in the two CHP plants plays a decisive role.
    Until 2021, the sewage sludge was disposed of on the fields as fertilizer at great expense. With the help of sewage sludge dewatering, the sludge can be dewatered and incinerated, which massively reduces disposal costs.
    The sewage treatment plant has been using separation technology from Flottweg since 2016. As the newly planned dewatering system was also to be automated and operated autonomously, centrifuges were also planned for this area. The two X3E Xelletor centrifuges installed delivered great results from the very first moment and could be perfectly integrated into the process.
