I was hoping that Fyreslayers would be one of the big "Herohammer" armies, but it seems like you'll need at least 2-4 small units to support most of the heroes presented in these warscrolls. Oh well, good job on the coverage Rob!
Excelente vídeo! Thank you Rob. Amazing job. IMHO Fyreslayers have become very fun to play and even stronger than last edition. But probably much harder. It’s not a forgiven army… love those angry dwarves. BTW, those vulkite gaining 1 point of rend… excellent!!!
Why would he though? He doesn't even like them. He just nicked their rune and one of their axes and went off. Tells them to sod off then he meets them and gets pissed when people mistake him for one. Heck, in the books, he's spent more time alongside Kharadron than Fyreslayers.
Thanks Rob and chat, been waiting to see the fyreslayers. Disappointed in the grimwrath berserker at first look but overall looks very exciting need to get those vulkyn flameseekers built!
For the auric flamekeeper's buff that relies on friendly units dying would the manifestations count? I assume they count as enemy unit for opponent abilities. It could make his buff in an infantry and priest heavy army reliable.
I don't know how Fyreslayers will compare overall after this I can make the following observation --- army design is following WH40k 10th Edition setup This to me is a negative that will lead to far too streamlined armies with a high degree of homogeneity The available choices, despite being fewer in number, are still no more competitive than when there were many choices There is still an obvious choice for optimal builds And now that there is no "generic" set of traits and artifacts (as per 3rd) -- if your army is a have not with poor choices, you're just SOL unless the GHB Season Rules are generous My only positive comments with the rules changes from AoS 3 to 4 are the modularity aspect, the clarification on a number of abilities, and the wording on many of the core rules
Cannot stack runes can we? No 5+ and Strikes first on an enemies charge phase. Runemaster replaced roll looking for 6, nice! Flamekeepers + Doomseekers = fun, stacking +1 dmg? Doomeseekers lists will live on! Great review as always!
Rob you was so positive about OBR but so much is missing and the glaring minimal healing seems so weird from a death army?! And katakros lost a lot of his identity. I’m ready to be a special guest speaker
OBR has a huge toolkit with creative and adaptive solutions for any situation. You can built different archetypes and play the game in every phase if you want to. Probably one of the most popular armies (yet again).
My smooth orcy brain can't figure out how a slow combat army with 6+ and 5+ saves (and a crappy ward) will live long enough to do very much. The Fyreslayer players seem to be happy, though, so they must be okay XD I know they get various buffs and synergies, but so do all the armies-And those other combat armies have 3+ armour saves... They seem very squishy for dwarfs (who's main defining feature as a race is toughness). Did GW forget that Toughness was a stat? I guess that got rolled into Health? 6+ save on combat units though. These dwarfs will die in droves to a light breeze. The buffs get them up to the heady heights of the chaff of most armies. I'm almost certainly wrong about them being a bit pants, but they seem...not good. I like the theme of the army but the range needs a boost. Also not sure about the rules but probably wrong on that. Otherwise would collect :)
Fyreslayers before had +1 save and no ward, the battlesmith and the rune giving a 6++ once per game. Now they have a 6++ built-in, and while the battlesmith don't help anymore, it's easy to set up for the rune giving now a 5++ and à +1 save when needed. And with the runemaster who will very high odds to be able to buff a rune turn 2, you can make some stupid combos like everyone having strike first AND wounding on 2+. You also seems to forget the FS are multi wounds, vulkites bringing 20 wounds for 150 pts make them less frail than at first thought and the army can spam a prayer giving -1 to be wounded and the infernoth also doing so. Everyone have at least rend-1, many heroes and monsters having -2 with a lot of multidmg attacks, and several ways to throw mortals and lower ennemy save/improve their own rend. Like, vulkyns for 160 pts have 18 wounds at 5+/6++ (unbuffed) and throw 27 attacks 3+/3+/-1/1 with rend -2 on monsters. They'll be fine.
Good timing one showing the firey lads. Fits this volcanic summer heatwave that’s hitting us. 🔥 🔥 (But yeah their rules look hype & spicy! My guesses about the Flamestrikes were spot-on, total mortal damage engines to literally melt armored opponents & beasties 🌋)
Speaking of hot, I used to think Louise was the hot one in the relationship. But, then you started releasing these, and... damn, if you ain't packin' the heat! 🥵 #AgeOfStudmar #DoesTheFlannelMatchTheDrapes?
Fyreslayers have absolutely nothing against magic. All units have a 5+/ 6+ ward, but only a 6+ safe. And they were and still are an army that is 4 inches fast. I seriously wonder how you can even win a game with them.
By using the great runes at the right time, power up a Runemaster to use his special skill at the right time too. Most armies who are strong in magic, don´t have many priests. For example there is a general prayer that lets you revive an infantry hero with full life. Just like everyone else, we have to try a bit and get used to the changes. But if your opponent brings big monsters and you have the Grimhold Exile, he will hurt them...a lot! And due to objectives now only have 3" range instead of 6, the opponent has to stand closer to our units. With the run and charge rune, there is a good chance we will get there and demolish them.
So on the webstore, Gotrek is under the Fyreslayers, but you didn't cover him. Any word on if he's somewhere else or getting the legends axe this edition?
I didn't see this in rules. How does a Priest(2) work for prayers? If I try to do Prayer of Ash and get a '3', can I do it again in an effort to get it off in a single round? Otherwise this priest is speaking in tongues and is somehow doing two chants at the exact same time, speaking gibberish.
A priest (2) can chant 2 different prayers in the same round. So if you really want to get the Prayer of Ash out you can chant something else and add the number to your ritual points and use them for your second cast. And for fluff reasons, mabe the priest is chanting a remix of the two prayers because he has that holy bling? :D
@@Mensch777 So ritual points are not tied directly the prayer you're choosing to chant, they're tied to the priest. So Prayer of Ash, then do a different prayer, next time do a different prayer. Maybe stock up an ungodly amount of ritual points for the fun of it? Feels kinda strange from a story perspective. Would imagine whichever god they're praying to would just lose their patience with them. Cash in will you?! Another question. If I do Prayer of Ash, get a 3, I can't do Prayer of Ash again, so I decide to do Wrath of Vulcatrix and roll a 4. Can I do Prayer of Ash now that I have 7 ritual points? Or do I have to do Wrath of Vulcatrix because it's what I just rolled for? Doesn't that mean I lose all of my ritual points, making it take longer for me to get Prayer of Ash off? Doesn't this make Priest (2) largely......meh?
@@OfPeas I wouldn’t say it’s Meh, it allows you to aim for those super powered prayers that require an 8 or 9+ in one turn as opposed to having to do it over two turns. You will essentially choose the less important prayer first, whether you succeed or not doesn’t matter you just choose to bank the ritual points. (Or course you can still spend them if you want to). Then you chant the prayer that is more important at that time, add the previous ritual points to it to either guarantee it goes off, providing you don’t roll a 1, or go for it enhanced version. Priest(2) seems very powerful to me, especially seeing you can gain ritual points in your opponents turn using a CP.

Possibly but you can definitely go herohammer, it just needs some runefathers or runesons to take doomseekers and grimwraths

Feels like almost every unit in the game has at minimum 1 rend. Making our almost army wide 6+ save really horrible. Even more than normal
I wonder why Vulkite berzerkers hit on 4+, are their axe made out of soap ?
Thanks Rob, great overview as always. Looking forward to seeing some creative army lists.
I was hoping Gotrek would of been added in as a named character for the Fyrelsayers.
Me too

I'm stoked to get my angry dwarfs on the table again. Been my main army since they released in the wild west times lol
Best part of new Fyreslayers is every model having a melee range 3 times their height.
Look funky. Thanks for doing these and allowing me to understand a bit more about the enemies.
Working hard as usual eh Rob ;) much appreciated
Thanks Rob and chat, been waiting to see the fyreslayers.

Grimwrath Berzerker pairs really well as a secondary attack, guarding a runemaster or standing along side either variation of Hearthguard Beserkers.

No they wouldn't but good question
I am actually excited for my army. I've only been playing for about 2 years now. I might actually be competitive.
I'm so glad buddy
This man....out here doing the lords work....❤

Thanks for doing all of these Rob!
we missed the khorne factionpack focus, any chance we could see you target the faction for this season?
Will the crit(mortal) rune effect the magmadroth attacks? Or it only effect the hero riding it? I dont really mastered this new rules so im confused
No
