Roger Rabbit's Forgotten Sequel and Comic Books! - Good Ol' Groovy Jake

- Despite being somewhat neglected and forgotten now, in the late 80s to early 90s, Disney and Amblin were really trying to make Roger Rabbit a very popular and big property. While that unfortunately didn't happen, back when Roger Rabbit was still being pushed, they ended up producing a sequel and two comic book series, which most people don't talk about... despite being pretty good. Let's take a look, shall we?
I've been working on this video for a few months. Sorry if the audio quality fluctuates, I'll try to fix that in future videos.
And to update you all, I plan to hopefully finish up the ASO 250 dub this month, I've just been working on some original projects and UA-cam videos, but it is still being worked on.
The lovely character stills of me were done by my good friend Mister Acidic, check him out:

Sorry if the audio quality is somewhat inconsistent or the humor is occasionally not that great, this is one of my first non fandub original vids. I'm hoping to improve my videos as I go on. Thanks for watching! If you enjoyed and are interested in more content, make sure to hit subscribe and that like button! Also leave a comment if you want to as well.
Until next time, stay swell.
I thought the video was awesome!
@@caitlyncarvalho7637who's he? are you talking about judge doom?
No it's alright bro👍👌
This such an amazing deep dive into this rather unknown fandom! I find it amazing how the brought Roger in conflict with once popular limited animation in the second comic.
Well researched video. Shame the Roger Rabbit franchise had such a short lifespan because of that cursed shared rights issue.
There could be a chance for a comeback. His cameo in the new Rescue Rangers might make that happen.
I am so glad you gave the comics some recognition. I already have a copy of the Resurrection of Doom, and am slowly but surely collecting as many of those other comics as humanly possible.
Roger Rabbit may no longer be around for a true sequel, but we’ve still gotten plenty of spiritual successors that could take place in the same universe - notably “Bonkers”, “Looney Tunes Back in Action”, the “Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers” movie, and quite possibly the Muppet films (with the Electric Mayhem miniseries implying that Toons exist in their universe).
Really great overview these comics just look so fun.
I still own the graphic novels and the complete run of both titles. I also had a Disney Adventures that featured a Roger Rabbit story in which Roger tried to rescue Baby Herman, who had gotten stuck in a tree. For some reason, they were able to mention Tweety Bird and Woody Woodpecker in the story
This was great dude, would love to see more videos like this. The Captain N and Mario comics or that ET sequel would be really cool to see discussed.
Thanks! I have plans to go over those at some point, I'll get to them eventually. :)
As an aside I think that Eddie's reasoning makes more sense than none. He had gotten over his trauma of ToonTown to both face his fears and his brother's murderer...but he still lost Teddy. Its clear that Eddie isnt just traumatized he ADORES his late brother. They grew up together and he represents a good chunk of Eddies love for goofiness and comedy... but Roger isn't Teddy... he's a toon. Toons are a whole other level of goofy, and it feels like what Eddie would need to find closure from Teddy's death is a human partner, maybe a former cartoonist that can make him laugh without being in his face like Roger or most of Toontown.
Is it a cop out? Oh ABSOLUTELY, but it could've been worse, he coulda been just annoyed with toons again.
It would've been really funny if instead of the copout they always kept Eddie's face out of frame like Ms. Bellum from PPG. That'd be my solution anyway.
It's funny, my own idea for a WFRR followed Teddy Valiant, Eddie's son, during the death of theatrical animation and the rise of television animation, Roger now out of work because TV Toons rely more on writing than visual flair.
It's funny how this covered similar ground haha
I'm new, and I just wanna say this video is great, and super funny! I can't wait to see more of this stuff!
If we can get a movie of what we seen from Chip & Dale movie. Then why not get a sequel/prequel. I would love to see that WW2 movie. Because cartoons were a major factor during WW2
Wow, seems like the Chip N Dale's movie took cues from this comic as the main villain wanted to make bootleg cartoon movies.
I can agree about the Resurrection of Doom being confusing. I mean, Doom should have been seeking vengeance on Eddie, not Roger, because Roger was tied up with Jessica the whole time during the fight scene.
Also, I definitely know that not all of the previous weasels were killed by the Dip in the movie, only one of them was killed by the Dip after Eddie kicked him into it.
That doodles the cat segment reminds me too much of the art community nowadays. Struggling artists at each other's throats while technology advancements seem to threaten us rather than help us. Maybe that wasn't the point, but I noticed the parallel.
just because he didn't die the way he died in the movie, doesn't mean the dude can never, ever die again .
The fact that Bob Hoskins has since passed away makes the chances of a sequel happening very unlikely now.
Always good to see indepth stuff for the lesser known comics.
JESSICA IN DEM JEAN SHORTS!!!!!!
34:35 then why is it that both benny and sleazy showed attraction to her in the movie
I literally have to rewatch this after Judge Doom is announced as a guest character in Oogie Boogie Bash.
The Ressurection of Doom- Yeah it should've been longer for my taste. And yeah I agree with some of the things you mentioned, Only I would agree for a new villain, but it be a surprise that Doom is revived. Again, just me.
The Comics- Cool, though I would've written that Eddie would be training someone who would be with Roger throughout the comic. Despite the racism, It's all good.
Good video. Love Roger Rabbit and hope he returns someday.

Roger did made a cameo appearance in Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers (the movie not the show).
Roger rabbit was my favorite movie in the Disney movies list and speaking of it. There's some rumors hanging around that Roger rabbit sequel will release on February 18th 2022. I was wondering if you could share your thoughts on it as I saw a page on IMDb and some articles on the pop culture website .
Own disney?
I like this movie and I seen it when I was little and it's my favorite movie from my childhood and it's a good movie but not funny about this movie and it's still a good movie but not funny about this movie and do you agree with me about it and what do you guys think about this movie same thing what I say right
Actually in the movie one of the weasels do die in the dip
Late reply, but to cover the tracks with the Weasels...you could always say that the dip that killed Doom also destroyed the bodies of the dead Weasels (save for the leader who already got the treatment).
Guess who's back!!!?

Don’t forget the merry dwarfs.
Roger's nickname "Jessie" for Jessica Rabbit was wholesome until he added the adjective "chesty" to it. :p
The sequel should have some changes, like the switch to digital ink & paint on the 2D animated characters.
No regular paint made them look more authentic
Don't worry bud I look at them years ago
So, we need Disney in a bad spot and Warner not caring about their classical cartoons...
This is 2024. What are they waiting for to make the sequel???
an idea for a sequel could take place in modern time's and focus om Eddie's great great great great grandson freddy valiant who has his own prejudice against toons but not because of any kind of tragic event but rather simply just because and he deals with something involving anti toon humans wanting to follow in the footsteps of doom and destroy all toons meanwhile we get shown people saying I'll just say 'cartoonism' no longer exists as we are shown Hollywood finding new ways to expolit them as we see various toons with internalized bigotries playing hard into the 'cartoons are for kid's' steryotype some cameos for this movie? uh i don't know woody and buzz cuphead and mugman bojack horseman shrek the go titans being beaten up by the 2003 ninja turtles the warner siblings the ice age trio and miles morales because those we're thing's that we're suddenly on my mind actor for freddie? uhhhhh andrew Garfield baby herman won't return for obvious reason's and also maybe a similar scene to that betty boop scene with maybe the warners complaining about all of the cgi characters and then another sequel comic can expand upon that concept
