Because the HSPU is a much shorter range of motion (straight arms to 90 degrees). If I were to decrease the ROM of the shoulder press to match that of the HSPU I'd be able to lift more (90 to straight). Obviously, if I did a shoulder press from 90 degrees up, I'd get roasted even more :P The ROM of the shoulder press is more similar to a deep HSPU of which I can only do 1 rep. Plus, the angle is a bit different.
First video I've ever seen from this channel, based on this comment you're definitely more of an authority on this than you let on in the video. Although, your results speak for themselves. Freakin impressive.
Reduced ROM like she said, but also, you’re not technically lifting your arms. Like if I dumbbell row 80lbs, you don’t count your arm in the weight. It’s the same for this, except your bodyweight-arms is the dumbbell. Men’s arms account for about 15% of their weight, women’s closer to 10%. This is also why handstand push ups without parallettes to hit full ROM are pretty useless.
@@Summerfunfitness You could probably do a modified Viking press. I say modified because the fulcrum of a viking press machine makes it so the push is still pretty much straight up. A machine with a lower fulcrum that let you push up and away from you would be more similar to a HSPU (but wouldn't require the same stabilizing).

It’s probably because the ROM in the handstand push-up is shorter. I wouldn’t be surprised if she were able to military press her body weight if she set the pins in the squat rack at head height. What I think would also work is if she worked on deficit handstand pushups. She could put a pair of plates under her hands and progress by stacking more and more plates until the ROM of the handstand pushups matched the ROM of the barbell press. You're crazy strong, those handstand push ups were super clean. I can't even do half of that, I need to train harder😊 EDIT: Did my first one today LETSGOOOOO
It is all because of the range of motion. With overhead press, the both hands drop to a much lower position than hand stand. This alone can weaken the muscle power by a significant amount.
People, if you do one thing it doesn't transfer directly to other things. You will be good at what you're doing. To whoever says hs push up is easy, do it on video. To whoever says ohp body weight is easy, do it on video. They're different exercises, with different skillsets.
The reason is shoulder press is harder is because it's an open chain exercise. The bar is unstable through space, meanwhile the ground is static, sure you need to balance but you can grip the ground. It's like the difference between ring dips and bar dips, but in this case the shoulder press is the open chain move. It can actually make your hand stand push ups even stronger as you address the stability component. I got this from one of FitnessFAQ's interviews with a handstand master.
Um, no! Sure the ground is stable. But you aren't lifting the ground, you're lifting a human body which is a whole lot less stable than a barbell with plates. The reason that it is harder is because of the range of motion. If she were to start the shoulder press off of pins at eye level, which would be about the same range of motion and I betcha she would be able to press her body weight from there.
It's simply because the range of motion of your handstand pushup is obstructed by the floor so you couldn't go as deep as in the shoulder press. Try using parallettes for a deeper or full range of motion for your handstand pushups. You probably won't be able to do them either. Great work though🎉, you're already WAY TOO ahead of me and many others in your calisthenics journey😅
Can anyone explain why isn’t this possible (I mean like to shoulder press body weight) ?
Because the HSPU is a much shorter range of motion (straight arms to 90 degrees). If I were to decrease the ROM of the shoulder press to match that of the HSPU I'd be able to lift more (90 to straight). Obviously, if I did a shoulder press from 90 degrees up, I'd get roasted even more :P

@@kalizibeozi7348 Ikr unfortunately there’s a few female “fitness influencers” who just harass people or make thirst traps, so it gives all the actual ones a bad rep 😔
@@kalizibeozi7348 I don’t know whether you’re also women in this thread but I feel like my algorithm hasn’t recommended female influencers with these traits. There were initially some annoying male fitness influencers I was recommended like this but once I found the female fitness influencers I was able to get much less toxic or annoying fitness content. I guess the algorithm led us through different groups of annoying people lol

She really is the realest out of em’ bunch and I only watched her for 15 seconds. Impressive physical feat you have.
You're crazy strong, those handstand push ups were super clean. I can't even do half of that, I need to train harder😊
EDIT: Did my first one today LETSGOOOOO
WOOOOOOO
Your dedication and hard work are paying off.
You can do it if you work on technique. Very impressive stuff.
I was gonna say the same thing. She's got pretty good form either way, but with a few small tweaks it's right there.
Thanks for sharing. That was interesting af!!
It's still a different movement, even though you need really similar muscle groups.
Can I hire you for moving day Summer ?? 😉
Wrong
This is addictively good content.
My respect…🔥
Just a few woman can do calisthenics.
If you account for the weight of your arms taken off during the handstand, then I'd say its fairly close if not bang on !!!
You’re an inspiration . Awesome shit
For these people, the hardest part of their workout is not telling everyone they did it
You’re not very awesome.
Your arms weight doesn't count when you do hand stands since they support your body weight, but when you push the bar they add up to the bar's weight
That hand stand push up was mind-blowing!
She made it look effortless
Calisthenics AND weight lifting together are the perfect combo
Get that gymnast strength
That was beautiful. Thank you
You're in spectacular shape! It's just a different motion. Great job!!!
THANK YOO FOR THIS CONTENT!!!
You go girl!!! Amazing!!!
I love how you said "Not today" instead of "I can't". ❤
That military press form tho 🔥🔥🔥
Amazing form!💪
I love to see your strength 👏👏👏
My shoulder slapped me upside the head for even thinking about this.
Beautiful lady
50kg overhead as a girl, that is insanely strong, I know quite a few gym-bros that would struggle with that, respect.
