STOP Your Baby Steps

- There are storm clouds overhead, so it's time to STOP your baby step 2 (if you need to). If you are gazelle intense and trying to get out of debt, it's okay to pause, until we move past this, and just focus on your 4 walls. If you are out of debt and are in a good place financially, this might be the time to bump up your generosity level, and help out a friend or neighbor who needs help with their bills. My love and thoughts are with everyone during these uncertain times.

I am a staff nurse at a hospital in Indy. Many of the staff at our hospital all are working a lot of extra hours, some of us 5..12 hour shifts. It’s a little rough but we are all trying to stay positive and pull together. Some staff have had to call in because they don’t have child care. The no visitor policy is the best decision for both staff and patients but this makes patients and families on edge, angry because of the no visitor policy. Please pray for physical strength, safety and protection for hospitals and their staff. 💕
Praying for you Veda. I'm in Indianapolis, too, and have many friends in the health care services. Be safe and THANK YOU!!
Thank you Veda for your service in the midst of fear. I really appreciate you and all who are working tirelessly.. I will be praying throughout the crisis.
@ veda tobis God bless you all in the medical care and protect you and your families.

As an emergency room nurse, I thank you for your compliance. Wishing you and your family health.
I was following Dave Ramsey VERY loosely and for that I am SO grateful. We never would have survived on $1,000 emergency fund. Luckily we had a broke mentality from when we were living on one income while I was in nursing school and instead had been leaving money in our accounts. Luckily, we do have a nice cushion in case my husband can’t work. I am SO SO grateful for my job (although it’s terrifying) but also grateful for my money hoarding haha. Stay healthy and thank you so much for staying home. It’s so very much appreciated and I wish more people were taking it seriously.
such a calm and positive lady..you really give off a strong and reassuring vibe...blessings to you and the family
Don’t be afraid, but be smart. These are unusual times. Do what you feel is best for you and your family, but have an open heart for the rest of the world. We will get through this. ❤️

I feel so bad for single moms and people who can’t work from home! Then to hear the government wants to bail out airlines etc. why don’t they use the billions they make off luggage charges? Take care everyone!
Why do you feel sorry for single moms? Just curious because I am one. Me and my family are doing just fine, thanks for your concern though.
@@MikaNTey lots of single moms cannot work from home who watches the children? I am glad you have support during this time
My son-in-law is an airline employee and he is not working because of all this. Why so much anger about airlines? People have forgotten that they have employees, too. My “single mom” daughter had to move in with my other daughter and son in law. He’s been helping support my grandsons even though their father does not and he’s not obligated I guess he doesn’t deserve anything because he’s an airline employee.

This situation is exactly why I never run my pantry down every two weeks. I always have a couple months supply of my normal food stuffs. Also why I can a lot in the summer and fall to have food available and not have to struggle in the grocery store in times like these. I made bread on Saturday and took a loaf to the college guys next door and told them we were here if they needed something. They are great and we want to help our community. Be generous in times like these it will always bring a big return.
It is so difficult to accept that I have to touch my savings. I was saving for the deposit for my first flat. Plus I am a musician and overnight lost my job. All concerts are cancelled. Now looking for a job or other ways to create an income.
Apply at costco or grocery stores. They're hiring (usually) right now because of the demand people are buying goods.
I'm praying that you find work.

Hi Dana! I just wanted to let you know that I stumbled upon your channel about 6 months ago. I was in a complete financial crisis, I had taken out a brand new Subaru (much like yourself), was living off of credit cards and getting nowhere even though I was making great money. I bought Dave Ramseys book after you suggested it and I have been doing the babysteps since January! I have two credit cards paid off and I have two left but are getting there. I had my emergency fund ready to go incase anything happened, and boy am I glad I did. I was able to stock up on extra supplies, and send some money to my mother who is low income. I just wanted to say THANK YOU and that you are appreciated. You have pushed me in the right direction, myself and my partner are mid twenties and so happy that we are on the right track.
I hope your family stays safe during this outbreak!
Thank you for sharing your insights...such good info. I'm a retired health care worker and I can tell you that the things you said your family is doing are helpful things, unless, say, someone is allergic to sunlight (which is not very likely!) or diabetic and needs to keep away from juice...things like that. I'm not giving medical advice. Most people who have illnesses, chronic conditions already know what is and isn't good for them. In my opinion, your suggestions were good ones.
It just goes to show people that keeping a stocked pantry stretches the budget in times of troubles. Always stock for 6 months.
Really needed this video at the moment. Thanks Dana❤
It is telling which people believe and which do not. I’m so glad you are sharing this message. I work in healthcare and my sister is a nurse. People need to realize they are risking so much more than their own discomfort. It’s not a hoax. I hope everyone who can reconsiders staying home so the people putting themselves in harms way because they have to can do their jobs and we can all get to the other side of this sooner than later.
Medical family here as well. On the front lines then worry about giving it to our families.
Hello, I am in Northern Italy and hearing that your neighbors are still gathering and high five means you have morons as neighbors. I am just horrified to hear this. I was the first one to say that it was hysteria 10 days ago. Now of course I have change my language. The roads are not destroyed and you will have food in the grocery. We have everything we need in ours. I went to the grocery buy a big Toblerone and gave it to my Italian neighbors for them to have a Chocolate fondue. We have to be nice to others.
Yes. Yes I'll say it. We do have morons as neighbor. Tons of them Our country is very young compared to others and we have this invincible, optimistic, naive and entitled attitude. This attitude has gotten us creative and it got us through so many wars and other adversity throughout history. So I still have faith in it. It is also a reset so those who will not take it seriously. Unfortunately learning by serious mistakes and hopefully that would be the drive to solve tons of problems this has
It's in our culture. The adolescent prideful attitude is part of who we are. Hopfully with the right focus, direction and sometimes unfortunate personal experience will bring out new innovations for the future. Every country is different, we were raised differently so the behaviors and reactions are different. It should be understood that we are all human and should be respected no matter personal opinion
@@amiraclefinds4867 Cheers to your comment. I gave you a like! Also the pollution has gone down in China and here in northern Italy. It is a good idea to think about other source of energy than fossil. I am sure rich petrol company will try to fight that. WE need to be smarter. ciao
@@sylvievicenza179 you are right. Just like this, maybe this time will prove that the pollution is better and maybe people will think of ways to keep the pollution levels down once this is over. Many great innovations comes from isolation. Be bless, as always Italy is in our prayers.
@Polly Gato Why do we do this to the planet, for money! crazy. How many houses and cars one needs. How much cash is enough. I have a simple happy life and am recycling, reusing as much as I can. Austrian here, we have gotten plenty of restrictions from the government as of this week (you can basically only go out for work, grocery shopping or if there is an emergency) because people did not take social distancing serious. I just wanna say thank you for staying home and doing what you can in this situation.
Yess! Like you said-this is the time to be as generous as you can! Even if you can’t help financially, you can help older people you know by picking them up supplies when you’re getting your own

This is going to be a marathon not a Sprint. Pace yourselves.
I gave some of this month’s fun money to street homeless people - they are going to find this next few weeks really hard. And their lives are already so precarious. Also money to local food banks. I will save on commuting money, too, because I have been told to work from home, so I will try to pass that on too. I am very lucky, I know my job is safe - and so I really feel it is my duty, and a privilege, to be as generous as possible at this time.
This video is important. THANK YOU, Dana.
From my experience growing up in socialist South America (where emergencies like this are typically enforced by the military) I would say take out only the cash you think you might need for a couple of weeks, but be careful of advising people to go take out cash because what always happens here is that people hear that and then they all freak out and begin to take out ALL their money and then the banks collapse. When people make a run on the banks (like they did in the US on the grocery stores) the government then steps in (in an effort to stop the country's entire financial system from collapsing) a closes the banks down, and puts limits on how much money we can withdraw from our accounts per week (sort of like in the grocery stores when they become forced to limit the groceries to only 1 per customer, etc.) So just be careful everyone. Take out only what you need. Don't collapse the banks.
We are social distancing here as well. I had some groceries delivered and I have no plans to go places for a couple of weeks then we will see what's happening. I am in country rural Australia
Dana you make so much sense.
Hi Dana! I'm staying home here with my husband, my father and 4 kids. Thankfully, I started paying off debt 2 years ago so this is not that odd for us, we're used to not going out. I have a one month emergency fund and am almost done with baby step 2 so I'm not super freaking out about money. Also, I had a pre planned week off this week, so that was a nice coincidence. We are fully stocked with food because I'm a bargain shopper, and have 12 rolls of toilet paper (hopefully enough for now). I have been frugal most of my life, but really adopted it 3 years ago. So thankful that my anxiety is lower than others because I've been focusing on planning for my household needs.
Robin Robertson Thank you for sharing!
12 rolls is not enough. We’re looking at lockdown of quite a bit. We go thru 12 rolls in a less than a month easily. With my dad with dementia here, its like 2.5-3 weeks on a good month 🤦♀️ Anyway, get 2 mos worth for your family!
All of this internet usage requires servers and equipment that reside in buildings. Buildings that have to be maintained, monitored and kept running: 24x7. That requires some people. This crisis has made me see just how robust that infrastructure is and has to be ---globally. A true test of a crisis would be no electricity and no internet. That would throw society into crisis mode in a colossal way. So I am grateful for the companies and people keeping the electric grid, the internet, and the power on. Because that is keeping us connected during this strange time where the price of gas is low but there is nowhere to go except on the technology highway. Stay strong everyone!
Thank you for your calm, reasonable response. Good to know about cash on hand. Play some games with your family and have some family fun. Counting our blessings also helps to keep us positive!
I agree with everything you said except taking money out of non-retirement investments. With the market down right now, you should be buying and not selling!!!
Everything is on sale, right. 😁 I agree, but if someone needs to pay bills - that’s different.

I was feeling guilty for spending more on groceries..thanks for the reassurance that it's ok.
It’s not the virus, it’s all the panic that can be dangerous. The last thing anybody wants is to be in a crowded stores and overpaying for the regular price toilet paper or other things.
Did you just say the virus isnt dangerous?
Are you kidding? This whole thing IS THE VIRUS. Get real and pay attention.
Please don’t underestimate this. Your decision effects others.
What she is trying to say is that people are causing more problems than the virus is. People are fighting over TP and hoarding stuff so others can't get it. There are people out there hurting each other physically and doing more damage than any virus can do. We are just seeing people's true colors and how they can't handle a crisis without freaking out. I work in a grocery store and yes, people are a huge problem. Even our managers are telling us to be as kind as we can right now because people are being crazy and dangerous. If people would try to help eat other and quit being rude and hurting each over things, this will be a much smoother ride to get through.
People make it a hundred times dangerous by panicking and doing crazy things.
People are now realizing they missed managed their money. This might be what it takes for people to get debt free.
*It's good to have an emergency fund and to be very flexible for times like this. Also having cash set aside to take advantage of the stock markets is also key.* 😉
It’s good to have small bills too (5’s and 10 ‘s)
Dana I saw the ibuprofen in your items. They are recommending to not use. Use Tylenol in the event symptoms start. Google and you should find the statement from the CDC.

Great take mate. Makes sense.
People are not being told to prepare enough. Expect life altering changes in our world. Grocery rations. Movement limited by checkpoints. Social unrest induced by scarcity. IMO you cannot have enough food or ammo on hand in a time of economic and humanitarian collapse. Food would be worth more than money.
Planned a vacation this week ahead of time, before the current crisis was in the news. Really hadn't planned on going out of town, but had some fun day trips planned. Now canceled. Kind of glad I am home this week - but the gloomy skies day after day here is depressing. Wondered what to do about paying down debt. We can put on hold for now - and if we don't need the money - can use the money later to pay down debt. This week is a good week to catch up on small projects around the house, read a book, and enjoy hobbies I don't always have time for. Making lemonade out of lemons.
Great advice, thank you.

Here in Sheffield, England, my partner and I are doing a LOT of staying home, but we have a table booked in a fancy restaurant for dinner tonight and we plan to use that, if the restaurant is still open, because we think it will be very very quiet in there because most people are busy panic buying toilet roll, so it will be cleaner than usual in there, and the service will be top notch. Considering it our last hurrah before restaurants are closed here.
My emergency fund was not very big, but I had to use to buy my new glasses. I didn't know this was going to happen. But I already was stocked up with food and supplies as I buy them on the 3rd every month. I am retired and live alone with a small pet. I will get back to my emergency fund next month. I hope your family stays healthy.
Social Distancing here, I cringe when I have to go to the grocery store. And disinfect when I get home. We need to take things serious, but not panic. And playing meditation music! (High 5's? Yikes, No way.)
I am so glad that I started prepping over a year ago...alittle each week since I am pretty much on a fixed income. I have a rotating pantry but added a alittle each week. When the virus stated to spread back in January, I took some emergency fund money and stocked up on TP,paper towels, tooth paste etc. No panic buying for me. It has really helped keep my stress level very low. Many people laughed at me back in January when I told them what I was doing. They aren't laughing now!!!! I took out money and filled my gas tank and now am sheltered in!!!! Better safe than sorry! PS it is very upsetting to see the pictures of kids on spring break " living it up". They are absolutely crazy and many will regret it!

Many banks are refusing to allow people to take out large sums. If everyone cashes their accounts out we’ll have a run on cash. That doesn’t seem like prudent advice at all. 😱 We’re stocking up as we’re able. Unfortunately, I’ll need to preserve duds in case I get sick as I’m currently uninsured.
I don’t recommend cashing out entirely. $100 per person, per household (just in case) is what we did.
We sold a vehicle last week and I was going to put the money in the bank but I didn't have my debit card on me so I couldn't. And now I'm glad that happened just incase the banks close like you mentioned.

I think it will take longer but the next two months will be brutal. But we can do it. People need to hunker at home and relax
