Wait on! I used to get my morning smoko ( a Vegemite bun ) at the local take-away, run by a Kiwi ( New Zealander ), but it took me some time to train him. I used to watch him prepare it, and would have to say "No mate, I can still see the bread; more butter please!". Then it was "No mate, I can still see the butter; more Vegemite please. His response one day was "I don't know how you can eat this shit", "That, my sheep-shagging friend, is because you are not an Aussie". Anyway, I go him trained up, and all was good.

Even better than vegemite on toast is to spread it on a piping hot crumpet.
Crumpets hold their heat better when they're toasted... Bread tends to cool down really quickly.
Crumpets also have lots of tiny holes in them for the melted butter and vegemite to sink into and give off an amazing flavour when you bite into it.. getting the butter and vegemite ratio to your liking is important... Some like a strong flavour but vegemite is definitely an acquired taste.

Vegemite. The correct way. Toast with butter. “Light” spread of Vegemite. Many of us like to mix the butter and Vegemite together when it’s on the toast. This combination makes for a milder taste. You mix it until the result looks like a bad day in the bathroom. Forget the looks, it’s awesome.

They also make sheep whey gin which is better than the vodka. Butter is only salty if you buy salted butter, it is not naturally salty. Use unsalted butter and you get the full butter flavour. If you want salt, add it yourself. A traditional way to eat vegemite is two take two crackers with holes in them. Spread one with butter and vegemite, put the other on top and squeeze. Little worms of butter and vegemite come out of the holes. Lick them off and eat the crackers.

Americans often make the mistake of assuming Vegemite should be spread like Nutella or peanut butter. No, we don't spread it like that! It needs to go on very thin because it is quite a strong taste. Watch the video with Hugh Jackman showing Jimmy Fallon how to correctly spread Vegemite! Vegemite is most commonly had with butter on toast. It is also a delicious seasoning to add to soups and stews. Try Vegemite on toast, with a slice of cheese on top melted under the grill. Yum! Fun fact: Vegemite was originally made from leftover brewers yeast with added flavours and spices, and became popularised during World War 2 when it was sent to Aussie troops in large quantities for the nutritional value of its very high vitamin B content.

Vegemite taste like beef stock. Stock is salty and the closest taste to describe it is beef. When I've run out of beef stock I've used vegemite. The lady who put it in hot water was drinking it like a cup of beef flavoured soup. When people try it and react with a "yuk" ,it's just the saltiness that bites their mouth.
My parents immigrated from Europe, they like vegemite, my mum was a genius with it. Vegemite , cheese and lettuce sandwiches for lunch at school. Remember vegemite tastes like beef. So much can be done with it, started as a versatile food for families in the early depression years.

Idea to cover the sounds of Australia whilst camping. Possums and Koalas as they make the scariest noises. Ringtail Possums during mating season sound like the devil at night and Koala males grunt like a big bear when mating, the females also scream really loudly. It can be terrifying to go camping if you are unaware. Probably many other Australian animals that are noisy at night also but these two are common. The Tasmanian Devil is known for it's terrifying screams at night. Tawny frogmouths are noisy at night. Crocs adult males make a noise like a monster whilst the babies are cute. Emus make echoing throat sounds which is cool when you wake up to it in the mornings when camping. Rain Forest bird sounds is nice also and unique to Australia and of course the Kookaburra. You can imagine how awesome it is to go camping in Australia, all the wild parrots are amazing also, my favourite is the Black Cockatoo. The Wedge Tailed Eagle is an awesome bird that can hunt a kangaroo in pairs, using their talons to pierce the kangaroos brain and kill it instantly.

In a lot of parts of the world, stars are very hard to see. Light from houses, businesses and street lights, gives us limits. Out in Woop Woop, there is no ambient light, darkness is absolute except for the moon and stars. Australia is in a very good place to see a lot of the milky way, though the constellations we see are different to what is overhead in other countries. Lying under the stars at night, out there, there is not a lot else to see. Any time there is something unusual like a comet visible, we see groups of people out in the desert with Greg on tv.

That making science easy one didn’t really explain him very well at all, he is actually really fascinating and interesting to watch! His name is Greg Quickie, you’ll understand what he is all about if you watch his documentary on astronomy. It was on ABC iView but I imagine it would also be somewhere on here. He also runs astronomy/star gazing nights if you are ever in Australia and head through the Northern Territory or North-Western Australia, which is well worth it, especially if you are from the Northern Hemisphere...

When I have vegiemite we use margarine but I know people who use butter I would advise to use unsalted butter also everyone I've seen try it always puts too much on if you cant see the bread through the vegiemite then it's too much. When you frist start eating it I would put 5 small dots of it on the bread before spreading it. Its something you have to build up to over time

You're supposed to spread Vegemite lightly on bread but it really depends on what your preferences are.

Aussies got Marmite from England but WW2 stopped the supplies. Vegemite was then allowed to be made here. Promite is a smoother sweeter version that Americans would prefer, made by Mars Foods.

I don't really hate it but I am not inclined to have it. I think I did the full teaspoon thing as a 4 - 5 year old and with my brand new taste buds it blew my mind with the saltiness and I think I cried lol. After that psychologically I was done with having vegemite lol.

Vegemite should be smeared on buttered fresh bread or toast. Any other use is for crazy people. I first ate it as a toddler. There is a similar British product called Marmite. To me Marmite tastes like Vegemite about 10 years past its expiry date. Both spreads, now more than 100 years old, started as cheap ways for the poor to improve the flavour of plain bread/toast. Similar in concept to fish paste made from anchovies. Maybe Americans were too prosperous to need such products.

Vegemite and lettuce sandwich is awesome and vegemite and fried egg on toast is pretty good as well. Don't have it by itself on a spoon, that is yuk. Trick is to not pile it on. Only people from overseas do that and that's why it gets a bum wrap. Also smear it on binoculars and get someone to look through them, that's funny!

People who eat a spoonfull of Vegemite and declaring you don't like it is pretty much exactly like eating the flavored salt satchel from instant noodles and deciding you don't like them.
It's super concentrated. You need about a pinkie finger fingernail's worth per slice of toast.
The reason people say its disgusting when they eat a spoonfull is because it *is* disgusting to eat a spoonfull, even to %95 of people who love Vegemite.

No Aussies eat Vegemite with a spoon. If they say they do they are bullshitting. We eat Vegemite on bread or toast, lots of butter right to the edges, with Vegemite on top. Some like a thin scrape on top and some like it thick. Personally I like a thin scrape, I think people who like it thick have an iron tongue haha 😂 for an Aussie, it’s comfort food, yum yum 🤤 we were all bought up on it as kids. 🥰😂

Many years I watched Americans trying Vegemite, all of them eating Vegemite the wrong way. So I made a video mocking them with a how to eat Vegemite video. Fun stuff. LOL The butter gives the vegemite a somewhat creamy texture. It's also good to rub a thin layer of Vegemite on the skin of a whole chicken before baking the bird.

the only thing you need to know about vegemite is that even those of us that are heavy user only use a tiny little bit.it is super strong flavor i would say put the tinniest little dot on your finger and taste you will see that a tiny bit is yummy but if like lots of people to try it by the spoon you will regret it and that's all i have to say about that
