The Motors... for me, one of the most unbelievable and incomprehensible 'failed' bands in UK pop/rock. They were brilliant! Wonderful band with the intro into Dancing the Night Away one of the best ever and guitar hero classics
They didn't pinch the melody; you will have probably heard this many times since on TV adverts and movies since; this Song is almost fifty years old! A bit of trivia; I recall reading somewhere at the time that this was the most powerful Song ‘musically’ ever up to that time. (I forget how many decibels they said when played really loud - blew the Speakers!) I suspect it was off the scale! I have this on a 12" Single Limited release in blue vinyl and also the Album on Limited red vinyl it was taken from and both from 1978! (not re-issues) The Motors were very underrated. Thanks for sharing your Reaction. Enjoyed it as always.
@@InsignificantNick One of the reasons perhaps (not sure if the same in America?) but every single Advert on TV these days they use old pop songs... It ruins half of them, and I guess anyone younger than the actual Song used, will naturally assume it was written for the Ad. They don’t do that anymore. Years ago they were called 'jingles'; small snippets of music that were written specially for the Advert - they don’t seem to be able to do that anymore. (or too lazy) It’s a real shame, because many a great Song has been ruined and lost credit because of it. Like one famous example (at least over here in Britain) 'O Sole Mio' which was famously used to advertise Ice Cream 'Just one Cornetto' - it mutilated the Song forever... Another example; ‘Nessun Dorma’ used for football and everyone thinks it has something to do with sport - or worse still, I even heard someone think it was specially written for the 1990... Who can hear that piece of music now and not think of Football!
I love this song. You might also try their first single, Dancing the Night Away, or some of Bram Tchaikovsky's solo work like Girl of My Dreams or Sara Smiles (not the Hall and Oats number). This is some of my favorite period of British pop.
Please check out "Coast to Coast" (Live at the Old Grey Whistle Test), By Nick Garvey & Andy McMaster's previous band "Ducks Deluxe"... Pub Rock at it's very best!!!
One to add to your list an English rock band who released several charting albums and a top 20 single but who now seem to be forgotten. Then band was called, 'Then Jericho'. , and their stand out single was the fantastic single Big Area.. Should be just your cup of tea. Cheers , Mike.
I don’t know if you’ve done anything by The Fall their a great Manchester band, “Cruiser’s Creek , “ Mr. Pharmacist “ , “LA” , “Hit the North” to name just a few.
songs like this were why the 70s was so good for music.there was a video from top of the pops for this song where the two guys at the back were wearing nazi uniforms, that video is hard to find now, well it was the 70s.
What a tune

Dancing The Night Away by the Motors is fantastic too!
So glad you done this song .. I have loved it since ‘78 ❤
Check out their appearance on The Old Grey Whistle Test singing "Dancing The Night Away." Classic Rock and Roll.

Yeah, I read that this song has been used in a lot of adverts and airports, too. I was surprised it didn't ring a bell.

When I was a kid my dad was convinced they were saying " F..Off" not airport. I can never hear this song without singing my dads version.
The keyboards really make this song. Didn’t know who plays them. I couldn’t remember all the lyrics but never forgot those keys. 🔥
This made my day Nick. I may just get my 7 inch out (oooerrrr) and give it whirl on the turntable 👍🏻
Hey, whatever floats your boat!

Forgot to add they were an early 80,s band
The Then Jericho track that stands out for me is their first hit, 'The Motive'.
I love your reactions, Graham Parker and the rumour, Hey lord don't ask no questions , have listen to.
Great band. Howling Wind was a fabulous album.
Nice reaction Bubba they were a great band. How about The Members offshore Banking Business or Sound Of The Suburbs?
I've got the original 12inch of Offshore banking and the flip side , ' Solitary Confinement', is also excellent.
Please react to: "Jigsaw - Sky High (1975)"

Wow!
Great song, great band!
Sorry Nick, nothing insignificant about this.😁
Try their song "Do You Mind?"
It's their "Complicated Game".
It's a pretty significant song!

I was going to mention that TOTP performance myself!
