I put an AT&T SIM card in the T-Box from my iPad Pro and the unit recognizes the SIM but wont access the 4G network. Any ideas? The AT&T store says it needs an IMEI id of the box to function properly. Don't know how to determine that.
...anyway...the same audio bug happens to me.... someone, as workaround, disable the "hey google" recognition in the maps settings... I've tried...it seemed it worked but after a while the problem appears again...
Did you have any issues with having to sign in to wifi every time you start up the car? I have a Toyota and Android phone, and Carlinkit would not maintain the Wifi connection.
Very good video! Is it possible to keep the bluetooth connection of the car for the phone functions and use wireless carplay of the carlinkit (with all the functions of carplay so included phone)? Wifi connection to the phone is mandatory or can I connect also on the Wifi connection of the car which has his on board SIM?
I have had the box for a few days now, so far very satisfied. thanks for your extensive video. I have a question, when I start my car, the system also starts itself, so far no specifics. but during startup it mixed up all the apps. is there a way to save your sorted apps and have them stay that way once the system is done? Is it true that if you use a longer cord the device will not work properly?
I have a 2017 Mercedes GLS that has only a wired Carplay capability, no Android Auto. Would this device enable me to connect my android phone through Android Auto? Thanks
First very nice explanation I got one, the same you got I can getting to run Don’t know why. But watching you video I see you put in a SIM card Do I need a sim card to run it ? I was under the impression that didn’t when I got it Hope you can help
I bought it..one question, if i want to play the youtube video with the wifi hotspot (don't want to use SIM card) then the Android auto gets disconnected. any solution to this?
Not sure why your review didnt include use with a phone hotspot. Who wants to buy a summ card and pay monthly usage. I found the device useless with a hotspot connection to my phone. Very buggy, laggy and unreliable.
Thanks for the info. I have one question- why additional sim card is required? Will it not work with the mobile data itself? I mean the connected phone?
The SIM card replaces the need to hotspot your phone to the Android box. It’s not necessary (as the Android box will work using your phone’s hotspot), but it’s for convenience.
Has anyone gotten this to work with a 24 Crosstrek? It works on all my other vehicles from 2017 to 2024 but nothing on the CT. Not even the tech guy at the dealership can figure it out. The unit powers on but the radio does not recognize it. I really want to buy a CT .
The 2024 Crosstreks exclusively use Wireless CarPlay (wired CarPlay is not included) No CarPlay dongles will work because the connection to the head unit is via Wi-Fi, not USB.
I have not tried it with a longer cord. In theory, as long as the cord length isn't excessive (say longer than 6 ft) it should still work. Best to check directly with CarLinKit.
You should choose only one system: carplay or android box or car infotainment. So you need to turn off all car infotainment features for the box to get its best
The sound quality for music Apps is severely diminished - sound functions are useless. Trying to hold a phone conversation is not possible. It’s probably the codecs built into the firmware but after 9 months of wasted time updating and reversing updates that break other functions, you’re better off looking into the other boxes wherein support isn’t a one-way conversation through UA-cam.
i 've just tried the carlinkit 5.0 2air wireless adapter and the 7-10% loss in the battery per 30 min driving on my iphone 15 and this was not acceptable for me so i was thinking of buying android tbox (handling the high media quality streaming , GPS navigation) but as highlighted in your review i wonder if these issues were not fixed with the OTA Updates or even in the new version (Tbox Ambient USB)? ua-cam.com/video/RiFmb3iasXQ/v-deo.htmlsi=un4tsEIUuz3LHnDt i think this may resolve the issue , hope u can share ur feedback with us
THis product is NOT GOOD. Do NOT buy. I am hoping to return mine but the company's policy is TERRIBLE as is their Tech Support from what I am reading & experiencing.
@@nahar252 I am trying to answer this question for myself. The main thing that I want is sports for when I am parked on a jobsite. It isn't always clear if these boxes are the way to go or better to get an ipad or ipad mini (or other branded tablet) with a mount.

Disable Google Voice Assistant on the box to fix your problem

Where you able to make the turn by turn instructions work? I would really like that in my cluster
Unfortunately no. It looks like some kind of software restriction on the Subaru/head unit side.
What about install nova launcher (or something similar) to create your own layout? Is it possible?
I haven’t actually tried that. I suppose you could. I’ll give it a shot.

In my experience, Carlinkit outperforms other wireless adapters I've tried. Honestly, I'd recommend any of them. The startup is quite quick as well.
Also you said that you are apple user and most of those false are in android interface so what and why you are whining!!!!
The whole point of the Android box… is to use Android. If I wanted to stay exclusively in CarPlay, I’d just not use this box. That’s kind of my point.
