  • This episode starts off with some deep conversations between Nick and Tim surrounding the topics of fatherhood, 9/11 and others. As always, there are plenty of different tangents as they track through the episode. The episode ends by discussing their experience at SeaWorld for the Seven Seas Food Festival as well as their time at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World for the Black History Month celebrations. Beignets at Magic Kingdom?! We are here for it!

Nick worries way too much about whether we’ll care or be interested by the content. Stop worrying! Those of us that have watched Tim for a while love the tangents and fun facts paths he takes us down. Let it happen when it’s organic! It’s magic

just wanted to say that, in my experience, parents apologizing makes all the difference, so props to nick for doing that. it took my parents a long time to start apologizing to me and my little brother and, honestly, it makes all the difference when they do nowadays. thanks for sharing that experience nick!

The 9/11 museum is a must for anyone that experienced that day’s events. ❤ You guys don’t have to preface the conversation by saying it’s “heavy”. Just talk about whatever the conversation goes to. It’s a very natural flow when friends talk. I like it, it’s very relatable to talk about singular events that most of us were alive for 💜 Just do your thing🎉😊

You are human, Nick! It's definitely true - repairing your relationship after you responded negatively towards your child, that is what matters. Idk if it's specific to your life, but I know for my life with my 4 year old, it's breaking generational trauma. Good for you and your sons 💚

In relation to Nick, snapping at his son; I have a five-year-old child and there are moments where things have built up during the day, and I have snapped. I’m not proud of it. The key thing is recognizing that you snapped and apologizing. My five year-old has the mentality of an average eight-year-old very bright ahead of her age, recognizes that it wasn’t directed at her. The key to being a good parent is owning up to your faults, apologizing for them when necessary.❤

I keep leaving comments because I relate so hard to everything you’re talking about 😂 I’m a mom of two boys, one is Jackson’s age and one is 2.5 years old. Regulating my emotions throughout these stressful years of toddlerhood is the biggest challenge of my life, truly. It’s been the biggest learning experience. Apologizing to my boys is huge, taking accountability for my actions is everything. My parents did not do that for me. Thank you for being so vulnerable, Nick!

Nick, I love your Hi Dad Soup moment. What an awesome bonding moment and lesson for your son. That adults make mistakes, that apologies are important - that they repair relationships, the mutual love and respect and forgiveness. While imperfect, that was perhaps a more beautiful and meaningful moment than a perfect one. Awesome.

my first historical event that I remember is Sandy Hook. I live in CT and was in 5th grade. I remember the teachers all meeting in the hallway and trying to figure out if they should tell us what happened just an hour away. Parents were calling all of their kids out of school and all of us were very scared not knowing what was happening. I will never forget it.

My first memory of an event.. was when Reagan got shot. I was nine. I had seen him at Sea World during his campaign tour.. so it really freaked me out a bit.
I did watch the Challenger tragedy from my backyard in Palm Bay....just south of Cape Canaveral. I was 14..I was a nerdy little space geek. I was greatly impacted. My best friend had met all of the astronauts.. because her father worked for NASA. She was inconsolable.
I was 30 on 9/11. Mom to a 9 year old and a 6 year old at the time. I absolutely knew in that moment that our world had just changed forever. 💔

The beginning of this episode hit me deep a little. I lived in Brooklyn when 9/11 happened, probably 15 minutes away from the World Trade Center. I was too young to understand what was going on, but I remember everyone panicking and getting us out of school when it happened. Absolute craziness that day and just so intense, especially not being 27 and knowing everything.

I think it's important to let kids see you struggle in those moments. In that moment your kid sees you having the same problem he is, he sees you stop, take a breath and get yourself together for the both of you. You modeled how to handle a stressful situation even if you didn't start off that way. That's SUCH and important lesson, far more important than getting it right the first time. Kids put you up like a superhero make you feel like you HAVE to live up to their image of you. But, you don't learn anything when you get it right all the time and they don't either.

The first historical event I remember is the MOON LANDING. I was under my mom’s kitchen table, watching our black and white television in San Francisco. That was far out. I remember the Challenger Exploding because my relatives best friend was Christa McAuliffe, the astronaut teacher. She was the substitute teacher and she watched the shuttle explode with Krista’s class. A massive tragedy.
