    Great video!When I was a child in Texas milkweed was everywhere. There’s very little now…Texas is trying to pour concrete on everywhere. There’s a UA-camr you would probably like…he’s a botanist and passionate about conservation. His channel is “Crime Pays but Botany Doesn’t. When I gardened I made sure I had both the plants the caterpillars need and those the butterflies use for food. For those watching, the butterfly bush provides nutrition for butterflies but no caterpillar species outside Asia eats the leaves. If you inky plant the bush you might get interest from a some passing butterflies but nit the numbers will have if you plant what the caterpillar like to lay their eggs and eat. There’s lots of information now on what plant feeds which caterpillar, information critical to a successful butterfly garden.

    I used to work pest control and I would love it when I walked up to a customers house and saw Milkweed. Made my job way easier because its just a simple foundation and entry way spray. No landscaping touched in and out. No bugs harmed just deterred from getting into the house

    Kevin - I grow sunflowers too! We have a certain subspecies of Orioles that fly over us on their migratory path (I live in South Colorado). I started the first year we lived here just with sunflowers from the seeds I put out for the squirrels and birds, black oil sunflower seeds. The Orioles come through here for just like a couple of days, and they tear up the heads of the flowers for the seeds, and some of the seeds inevitably get tossed onto the ground.
    I plan to put milkweed in the front of of my yard but just haven't had the opportunity yet.

    i have milkweed, 3 different species. i would have planted dill, parsley, and coriander this spring but unfortunately I fell this Spring and broke my leftb foot. So no gardening this year. Did you know that stinging nettles are afood source for Red Admiral butterflies. I love your pollinator garden. My thanks for sharing it,

    I know the video is about butterflies, but I have a snake husbandry question I was really hoping you could answer 😂 I promise I’ll watch the video in a second. I have a 7ish month old cal king and just noticed a greenish looking discoloration on her belly above her cloaca, I always keep the humidity 40-50% by spraying and there’s always dry spots and hides in her tank(glass) so I have no idea what’s wrong, maybe I need to completely change the substrate more and sanitize the tank im not sure

    I grow milkweed, Dill, Parsely, Foxglove, Lupine, Lilies, and more of what I saw in your fields. I just started with the Milkweed two years ago, but have not seen any evidence of Monarchs yet.
    I love to garden, and I’m comfortable enough around wasps and bees, but I am systematically allergic to wasps.

    I always love the bug content. I tried planting milkweed this year but it didn't take, I'll definitely start them sooner indoors next year. I've never seen a monarch up here though, only small butterflies that look like them but apparently aren't monarchs. My favorite pollinator plant that I've grown so far is rhubarb. It's fast growing and has tons of flowers as the plant can grow to like 5 feet in diameter. It's always full of bees and other pollinators. It also grows like weeds, it'll start on its own every year.

      Best thing to do is germinate milkweed seeds during the winter then plant them in spring (wet some paper towels lay them in between and put them in your fridge mist the towels if they get dry)

      @@NewEnglandReptile it detracts from the video, just like the annoying stuff inserted into other videos for"comic effect". The person editing and making thumbnails obviously thinks they're the star of the show. A lot of NERD videos are hard to watch now because of this.

    • @NewEnglandReptile
      @NewEnglandReptile  Місяць тому +3

      The person who sitting the videos, is me, Andy. You are the only person that seems to not like the additions for comedic affect. I definitely do not think I am the “star” of the show, as I am barely in any of the content.
      Kevin, also enjoys the switch up style. However, every person is entitled to their opinion. Have a great day ;)

    Oh I just fell in love 😂❤😂❤ I have a huge thing for butterfly's!! Milk weed grows crazy down here in louisiana along with so many wildflowers. Before the summer heat sits in we get beautiful swallow tails down here and some times others too. Now we do get asp as well witch give a nasty sting, but trick to that is don't touch and u won't get stung 😂 ur pollinator crops are beautiful ❤❤
