Loofahs are crop plants. They grow in vines like cucumber or squash. They are edibles just like cucumber or pumpkin. Only young ones can be eaten. It contains fiber which helps in digestion. It can be prepared just like any other vegetables like making soup. It is tasty. Mature loofahs are used as scrubbing sponges. You can find people selling loofahs with covering. Wow !!!!! Super, nice and Beautiful Bro, I am very proud of you. You look so handsome carrying a KHOH with you. I like the way you respect our culture, Thankyou. So many traveller here in Meghalaya but I never see them carrying a KHOH like you . Keep it up Bro 👍👍👍💜💜💜
Literally northeast India is the real definition of natural beauty... Beautiful market so many interesting fruits & veges,, sending lots of love from Nagaland 🤩
Thankyou so much for waking up the sense of culture to the local people by carrying a khoh in which 99 percent has forgotten about this traditional khoh.
Iewduh is like a maze.Anyone here for the first time alone would definitely get lost. Finally mastered my way inside this market growing up and doing my weekly marketing here.Although it is dirty especially during the rains but somehow “Iewduh “has its charm.Wonderful to see you carrying your”Khoh” in Iewduh Darshan 😊
Yeah, thats where my Mum use to take me when I was young buying eatables and stuff every weekend. There is more variety in Iewduh and also much cheaper compared to markets in your locality especially now with the skyrocketing prices in vegetables.
thank you bro for showing this generation not to feel weird of carrying a khoh whether it be in a city or any place that could be while it's in Meghalaya(where khoh was found). yeah I agreed it looks truly unique n beautiful n I hope our cultural handmade material stay still as long as we're alive 🤞🏼😍
My mother taught me that you will never get lost in iewduh. There is always a way out, even in the smallest nook or lane. Also, it's so nice to see you carrying a khoh. We don't see that anymore in Shillong. Hope you had a great stay and an amazing experience.🙌
Sohprew is one kind of plant which is planted in the paddy field or else we can also take out the seeds and just on the ground and it will come out it's plant. And the one which has been sold in the market is a dried one and also called brash for using while taking a bath . Otherwise undried one are using for eating.
I like seeing you with the khoh..where most people are feeling shy to carry it nowadays... looks like you have brought revival in it....continue to explore more in Meghalaya...God bless you 🙏🙏👍👍
It's great to watch your Vlog Darshan. Good to see Meghalya again. Market is awesome. We can find everything here buying different things of our choice. It offers people to buy local stuff. Thanks for sharing it. Wish you all the best.
After watching this, I felt my states needs more professional tourists guides who're easily accessible......anyways loving your integrity, humility and intellectual vibes in your videos.... And Sir, so glad to see you visiting our Shillong again.... Thank you for taking your viewers around Shillong ❤
Khoh seems strong and useful for many ways. One may need skills and great patience to make a Khoh. It was nice that you carried it comfortably in crowed and narrow paths in market but i hardly saw people still carrying Khoh. It's good to learn about Khoh from your video.
I lived in Shillong 35 years ago.Nothing much has changed in Iewduh. My office was nearby. There was a wonderful Chinese restaurant there.Ming Room. I think you visited too late as I think the owner migrated. Nice Blog.
Well Mr DC Traveller the first purchase you made is called as 'Sohprew' in Khasi and widely known as 'loofah', so that actually comes out from a kind of vegetable like a gourd, where the tender or green Sohprew is used for cooking as a vegetable, and if left for longer times till it turn yellow and dry, naturally that scrubber look form and can be harvested to use as a 'Sohprew' for bathing purpose.
My wife is a big fan of yours sometimes it makes me jealous but then you've got a personality that can't be neglected we shillongites love you keep up the good work brother 👍❤️❤️...
I must say your vlogs keeps getting better and better - so glad to have a glimpse of your day here in Shillong. After a long wait of knowing that you'll be posting about shillong 🤭and here it is I got so excited when I saw the notification and that to its a shopping vlog in iewduh 😅. The only thing running throught my mind while watching the video was - how is he able to walk around iewduh with a khoh and not get pushed, stuck in a place because of the crowd, stepped on the foot by someone else or even whistled by the men carrying the boxes to make way for them to pass , but anyway it was fun to watch and seriously waiting for the next vlog which I'm guessing is the khasi market for second hand clothes 🤭🤭 okay now I think this comment is too long 🤦🏻♀️🤣but yes eagerly waiting for the upcoming vlog . And I have to say for a man from the city adapting himself in a small town and that too in the North East Meghalaya, hats off to you for not complaining but living it in the best way and enjoying every detail about our state so thankyou so much for showing love and respect to my hometown🥰🤗
Thanks for the bara bazar video.. use to go there with mom for shopping when I was kid There was a restaurant called iewduh there pork chow was my all time fav.. if you visit that place again plz try to find that restaurant.. it's been almost 23 years since I left Shillong . I am in the US now . Once again thanks for the nostalgic video of bara bazar
It isn't made. It's a dried up part of a kind of gourd. In the raw form it is edible, a sort of lauki. When it dries up, the skin hardens and the inner part is the soft part inside. The hardened skin is peeled out and the 'loofah' is ready, naturally, The floor brush is also used to scrub stubborn dirt on clothes. It is made from the root of the bamboo.
That soh prew that use for bath it is not handmade it is a vegetable that we use to eat. With that vegetable we just keep it till it become hard and then we will peel out its hard skin and we will get that for bath.
That is a natural scrubber(creeper/climber), its not make but grown, when its ripe we pluck it from the tree it creeps and peel off its skin. Its not rocket science 😁😁😁

This is the most detailed explanation. Thank you 🙏🏻
To be more specific, that loofah is a kind of vegetable in khasi we call "sohprew" and in English it's known as "snake gourd"
@@DCTravelerExperience glad I could share a little of what I know 😄
It's Ridge Gourd vegetable. When it is dried, you get the loofah.
