  • September 30th, 2020. Ascent of Mt. Robie Reid in British Columbia. This is a four minute clip of the ridge walk, just below the summit proper. Amazing views over pretty much all of the lower mainland surrounding Vancouver.

I moved to Mission when I was 12, and fell in love with hiking in the Mission, Maple Ridge area mountains. I always wanted to do Mt. Robie Reid. Back then as a young teen I did most of my hikes and climbs solo. Nothing technical, but loved to bushwack and get up to that high alpine. Thank you for sharing this!

I'm hiking my first ever 4000ft peak on Sunday and I'm terrified haha. It's Mt Pierce in the White Mountains in NH! Thankfully after watching your videos I have a good idea of what I should bring to prepare!!

If you would recommend one day hike for someone coming into the Vancouver area, what would be your top pick?

I'd say your best bet would be to check out Outdoor Vancouver and see what's in your comfort range www.outdoorvancouver.ca/

Beautiful views...did u access it through alouette lake?

Access via Stave Lake FSR to Florence Lake FSR, deposits you right above Alouette and there's a trail from just below where you park.

awesome footage, I've always wanted to climb/hike/scramble this mountain. Are you using a go pro?

Hey Gary, do you have a video discussing knee pain and how to mitigate for it in running? I keep trying to prep for my first ultra, but always end up having to back off because of flared up tendonitis. It would be great to hear what a seasoned pro does, since I am sure you are no stranger to aches and pains. Thanks. Big fan of your work.

I'm not a "seasoned pro" but I do have experience with knee issues as a trail/mountain running enthusiast. I'd suggest go see a physio for a proper examination and treatment suggestions. Often it will have to do with weakness in one area causing other muscles to compensate and/or stressing tendons due to an imbalance.

Gary Robbins thanks for the response, Gary. One more quick question, are you still offering coaching through Ridgeline Athletics?
