ULA Vulcan Rocket First Flight - 4K launch replay

- After a decade of development and testing, United Launch Alliance (ULA) launched the inaugural mission for its Vulcan rocket. The first of two certification flights for this rocket sported a pair of methane/liquid oxygen-fueled BE-4 engines from Blue Origin. Liftoff from Space Launch Complex-41 (SLC-41) took place on Monday, Jan. 8, 2024, at 2:18 a.m. EST (0718 UTC) at the start of a 45-minute launch window.
The bright blue of the plume was a marked departure from the orange/yellow glow of ULA's heritage rockets, the Atlas V and Delta IV Heavy. ULA President and CEO Tory Bruno remarked after the launch that the countdown was virtually seamless and the Centaur V upper stage placed the Astrobotic Peregrine lunar lander into the correct trans-lunar orbit.

@@juliefizpatrick513 It was a lunar lander on board. They wont put people on a brand new rocket for a first time launch.

What then?
It’s a test. Dont want to have an explosion on a test flight with live crew. Thats what the Russians do. It’s always ready to go in the Russian standpoint. Not only their space program but same exact thing happens with their submarines. And they have paid the price many times. Most we haven’t heard of. They keep the disasters secret
Many cosmonauts or rockets exploded before yuri Gagarin was able to reach space. But they make it look like it was their 1st attempt. Blah blah.

Origin doesn’t care about reusing boosters. They were just concentrating on getting it into orbit and money is no option
@judd0112 this isn’t BO, this is ULA - they just use BO engines. Also, in the future, the engine bay structure and engines will be reusable
@@AeonExplorationand? So in the future when they can get their boosters back successfully , they will be still a step or 2 behind whatever spaceX is currently doing. But whatever I don’t care. At least he’s wasting his money on something we can all enjoy rather than something we cannot see or even prove.
