I sang the soprano part of this song in my high school choir right the sudden and tragic death of my cousin. Now i listen to this song again right after my uncle died nearly 2 weeks ago. This song is beautiful and comforting.
I sang this song at my grandmothers funeral and I broke down into tears afterwards. This song is so beautiful but now I can’t listen to it without sobbing
Maddie, I heard this entire Requiem this evening at an area church. It brings tears to my eyes too. May your heart continue to find comfort in these words and in loving memories of your grandmother.
Carrying out my late Aunties Coffin with this playing while crying and also a small smile on my face because i knew she loved this... such a beautiful song
The crescendo at 4:20 with the declaration that "I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever" brings this worship director on my knees every time I hear this.
Beautiful. I was transported to the Heavenly Courts!
The choir was magnificent. Just right. They sang it as Rutter's 'Cambridge Singers!
The Oboist was very plaintive and helped to carry the pathos of the music.
I remember playing this song for my Year 1 class while they did quiet reading. It still echoes many years ago.
I never tire of this wonderful piece….as many times as I’ve sung and heard it……
one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written
The “Rutter oboe “has an accompanying but is really the real voice in this glorious psalm.

Realmente una pieza sublime y hermosa del Mtro Rutter
Stunning. The simplicity of organ and reed undergird the voices so as to make this psalm alive.
This arrangementngement makes me cry.
The organ in Atlanta's Emory University's Swartz Center was built by Dan Jaekel, Duluth, MN
Wow!!!
Très magnifique si seulement je pouvais avoir des cours ma chorale allait changer
The clarinet always gets me to my deepest soul! I also have sung and listened to this so many times and never ever tire of it! Rutter is so sensitive a composer!

Flute
@@cclmanbrett OK, we've done it at my parish with a clarinet, not a flute, but flute too is so great! Thanks!
Oboe. Written for OBOE, played here on OBOE. bless your music loving hearts, but learn your instruments you’ll be glad you did!
Congrats on a flawless performance! Your music and voice are truly a blessing to the Lord! †
I cry to this. I can feel Spirit of Almighty moving through these amazing voices.
Kudos to the oboist!
What a wonderful ensemble! I wonder how it hadn't come to my knowledge until now :) Bravo! Beautiful renditions! Flawless recordings!
Have sung this many times and with arrangement. Beautiful music❤
Lovely!
when I first heard this, I was like WOW ..
Brought tears. Thank you 😊
Glory to God in the highest!!!
Ravel meets Renaissance in Rutter! I hope one day Rutter will find faith in his settings of Holy Scripture.
Gorgeous!!
Beautiful rendition!
Breathtaking...LOVE this performance!! The conducting so sensitive & it is mirrored in the chorale's execution, as well as oboist & organist! SOOOO Beautiful Atlanta Master Chorale! Thank you!!!!!

Lux in tenebris lucet

DeHeeris mijn Herder, niets kom ik te kort!
Where is this performance being held? How beautiful It must be with the addition of a harp! Such a truly awesome work and so expertly executed!
Emory University Swartz Center for the Performing ArtsDecatur (Atlanta) GA
Yes only the harp is missing, the performance is pure and of great beauty!
Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd,(A) I lack nothing.(B)
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,(C)
3 he refreshes my soul.(D)
He guides me(E) along the right paths(F)
for his name’s sake.(G)
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a](H)
I will fear no evil,(I)
for you are with me;(J)
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table(K) before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;(L)
my cup(M) overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love(N) will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Poor girl gets spit stuck in her C key so she has to blow it out mid performance in 4:26. As a fellow oboist, I feel her pain :(
too bad they left the harp out otherwise the voices are beautiful!
Seriously, they couldn't scare up a harpist?
@@Jazzbeau you think harpists grow on trees?
There must have been a last minute issue. There are sufficient harpists in the Atlanta area.
I feel that the oboe overpowers the voices too much. Just my opinion.
I agree although I think it just the recording. Probably sounded better balanced live.
