Does it have to be ONLY movie franchises? Because current Hollywood is being oversaturated with franchises and I would rather have you react to something more stand alone. I suggest the movies Knives Out, Looper, the perks of being a wallflower, Birdman( Unexpected Virtue of ignorance), Gravity, One flew over the cuckoo's nest, the shawshank redemption, Misery, Ex machina. Just to name a few. Regardless I will be here because your reactions are awesome. Side note: your girl should watch those with you too especially Knives out. Harry dances with Hermione because he wants to get her mind off of feeling sad about Ron. It wasn’t about romance. It was a best friend comforting another.
I always get so mad when people say it’s in a “romantic” way and that it made no sense at all to the movies, like no they are dancing to have a moment of fun/joy and in a brotherly/sisterly way like come on people 🙄
Actually it IS about romance since the director of the HP movies is Harry/Hermione shipper. He even admitted that he deliberately added this scene for his own interest , which is not from the novel.
Throughout the whole series, you can vaguely track director's intervention on the characters, mostly Hermione and Ron. He gave most of Ron's brilliant lines to Hermione and force Ron to say some dumb lines that is out of character like "you have no parents. your parents r dead". He also make Hermione the more perfect than she really is. In the book her advantage is BOOK-smart. However, in the movies, the extra lines make her extremely intelligent in ALL ways, turning her into MIss perfect while Ron becomes Mr. Clown.

There was an interview with the director of these last instalments in which he commented about the look they give each other as they finish the dance. He said that for just that briefest of moments, they were entertaining the possibility that there could be more between them than just friendship. After all, they had both lost so many loved ones, either to Voldemort or through their own sacrifice, and now they had lost Ron. Their emotions were very fragile and all they had was each other. However, as Harry says to Ron in the book after the locket Horcrux has been destroyed, Hermione is more like a sister to him, and Hermione has fallen too deeply in love with Ron, so they quickly check themselves and get back to reality.

@@GillDawe There was actually a deleted scene with Yaxley in the Grangers home, but it was completely empty. Same thing with the scene of Dudley saying he doesn't think Harry's a waste of space
@@moviehermit5631 Yeah, after reading that scene in the books, I sooo wish that was in the movies. It puts Vernan in a better light at the end there. It also explains why Harry used the fake name of Vernan Dudley to the snatchers. I think it was out of respect, but also because his face was puffy and fat, and it reminded him of them...

As a parent, Hermione's "Obliviate" at beginning is the saddest moment in the whole series of movies. I'd rather die than forget my girls (not that I'd be aware of them and I understand why she did what she did, but still) 😭
Worse for Hermione -- she literally just turned herself into an orphan with a twist of her wrist. She knows that if things go badly and she cannot eventually reverse the spell, she will never have existed to them.
Well if it makes you feel batter, she finds her parents after it and reverse the spell
But if you would forget your girls you dont even notice it. So in that case you dont know. Its sounds quite wierd but it make sense

I always get a little annoyed that the movies changed that detail. It was a redeeming moment for the character and would have played better with Fantastic Beast in my opinion. He chooses to die over giving Voldemort that power.
i agree and it would have made more sense if they used the line in the book because of the relationship between dumbledore and grindelwald. he would of never betrayed dumbeldore
I also think that it was a way for him to protect Dumbledore's grave from Voldemort ? Because of their romantic history together, it was maybe his way to make peace with the way his relationship with dumbledore fucked up in the end.
In the book, Harry reminded Pettigrew that he had once saved his life, and Pettigrew owed him. Pettigrew hesitated, and his silver hand, created by Voldemort for the servant he knew was a traitor and a coward, strangled Pettigrew to death

Quick note on the blood status of the trio:
Harry is a half-blood. His father is pureblood, his mother was muggleborn (both of her parents were muggles)
Ron is pureblood, as are all of the Weasleys. when Ron and Hermione have their kids, they are half-blood.
Hermione is a muggleborn. Her parents are muggles, but they had the magic gene from a distant relative, and it happened to take hold in her.
Blood status has absolutely nothing to do with the magical power of a witch or wizard, but Voldemort and the Death Eaters disagree.
Ironically, Voldemort himself is a half-blood. His father, Tom riddle Sr, was a muggle.

When I read it in the book I punched a hole in my wall. I didn't give a crap about anyone else dying, but dobby? That was just unacceptable to me, a friend who's loyalty never waivered, not for a second.
He's so afraid to see his girl hurt, that's almost beautiful...

You can see how Rico also likes the reaction of Dobby when talking to Luna at 1:05:45 and the in the next moment he quickly thinks about Dobby and remembers what will happen soon afterwards. I felt the same way and it was like we just looked at each other and felt it lol.
Hermione made her paretns think that they are totally different people and they moved to Australia. Harry is being wanted for killing Dumbledore, that is how they frame it in the book.
They published the Tales of Beedle the Bard as a book for the fans. Dumbledore writes an intro to all of them. And he points out how many wizards and witches, himself included, completely miss the point of the story of the Three Brothers. They created the idea of the Deathly Hallows, saying that if one has all three Hallows, they'd be the master of death. But they forget the fact that the two eldest brothers were still defeated despite having the Elder Wand and the Stone of Ressurection in hand, inspite of having the means to be undefeated and never killed and the means to bring the dead back. The point of the story is that the third brother was the true master of death, because by wearing the cloak he was acknowledging that death comes to all of us, and that all we can really do is avoid it for as long as we can, and then accept it when it comes. That way we master death.
As to whether or not the story actually happened, Dumbledore reckons that what most likely happened was that there were once three brothers who were each exceptionally talented and succeeded in creating powerful objects. There are other invisibility cloaks, but sooner or later their magic wears out, same as any clothing. Harry's is very old, but it still has it's own magic.

@@erikperhs_ I loved Dudley's defiance to Vernon showing how much hes grown and learned to appreciate Harry and understand how terribly they wronged him as a child. It's also why I wish they had Dumbledore show up at their house to pick up Harry and scold them before leaving.

I agree. It was one of my favorite parts in the book too. Seeing Dudley accepting Harry was heartwarming. Petunia's final meeting was perfect.
At the same time the film does great by beginning right away. I love that music. It always gives a sense of finality, while making you pumped up for what's to come.
While Hermione's plan regarding her parents makes no sense in the film, its a good visual scene which somehow still gets me.
With the two scenes the film would have had a slower start with ancillary characters who had nothing to do with the rest of the movie. They didn't even appear in the previous movie so clearly the filmmakers thought most people wouldn't care.
While i would have liked to see both scenes, i really liked what is in it as well.
A decade later and i am still upset on how they handled Grindelwald in the movies; especially having him tell Voldermort where the wand was.

Yeah. In the movies they botched up a lot of character moments. Some of my favorites like Kreacher's arc was completely absent.
Some were unavoidable considering how you much you had to fit in a movie. But some could have been avoided.
At the same time they did a few things better. The best scene in Part 2 was better then the book, even though in the book it was one of the highlights as well.

Ummm... Voldemort was talking to Gregorovich, the other wandmaker, not Grindelwald. Gregorovich tells Voldemort that Grindelwald took the wand. By the way, Gregorovich made Krum's wand.

1:05:39 House elves have their own brand of magic, but because they usually can't use their magic without express instructions from their master people forget about it. Because of that, even if wizards are magically banned from doing thing in certain places like apparating in and out of places like Hogwarts, this cellar and the cave from movie 6, house elves can.

1) Hermione wiped her parents' memories and used magic to influence them into moving to Australia so no chance of neighbours asking 'where's your daughter?' Lol, that comment made me laugh so hard.
2) Bathilda Bagshot's character is more established in the books. She's really old (over 100 years old). She knew the Dumbledores. Grindleward was her great-nephew who came to live with her when he was young. He became friends with the next door neighbour - Albus Dumbledore. It's also heavily implied they had feelings for each other (JK Rowling did also confirm that Dumbledore is gay). However, that friendship came to an end due to events hinted at in the next movie.
Bathilda also knew the Potters. She was in contact with Lily and James and was a friend of theirs. She knew baby Harry too.
3) Dobby's death is a lot sadder in the books because he was more established in the books too. He's a prominent character in Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix. He works at Hogwarts with the other houselves.
4) Kreacher gets a redemption arc which is left out in this movie. In Half Blood Prince, Sirius left everything he owned to Harry. This included the house, wealth, Buckbeak and Kreacher. Harry gives Buckbeak to Hagrid (Hagrid renames Buckbeak to Witherwings and takes him back to Hogwarts). It's Dumbledore who delivers the will to Harry in Half Blood Prince at the beginning of the book in 4 Privet Drive with the Dursleys present. It's a really good scene.
Dumbledore isn't sure if Kreacher will listen to Harry's orders as he isn't a member of the Black family by blood and Kreacher is bound to only listen to them. Technically, Sirius' heir should have been his cousin Bellatrix as she's Sirius' oldest closest living blood relative (along with his other younger cousin Narcissa whose Draco's mother). Dumbledore tells Harry to give Kreacher an order and Kreacher reluctantly obeys. He hates Harry though. However, after Harry orders Kreacher to find Mungundus he gives Kreacher the fake locket to keep as it belonged to Regulus Black who Kreacher had great affection for. Kreacher then starts to like Harry and respects him. However, we don't see the relationship develop as Harry can't return to Grimmauld Place because of Yaxley after the Ministry mission. Kreacher does reappear at the end of Deathly Hallows but I won't say what happens here.
Can I just say, the way you care about Monica's reactions and feel bad asking her to rehash the film at the end when it has hit her so emotionally is incredibly sweet. To be honest, when I watched this movie for the first time in cinemas, I had read the book and I STILL needed like half an hour after the film to stop sobbing like a baby, so stepping away at the end to get some tissues is like, definitely part of the process.
Dobbys death scene always gets me, even just watching a reaction video lol
I'll never forget the first time I saw this movie as a kid. My parents, my older brother, his friend, and my best friend all went to see it together in IMAX, and during the scene in Godric's Hallow when Nagini lunges my mom screamed and threw her giant tub of popcorn into the air causing it to rain down over us and the group behind us. She still hates that snake to this day!
Fun fact: Sirius Black left the noble house of Black for Harry in his will. Since Kreacher served in the noble house of Black, Harry became the master of Kreacher. That is why Kreacher had to obey Harry's orders. (answering his questions, Finding Mundungus etc)
I have to give Monica major credit for watching these movies. Especially this one as it really gives you heartache and desire for it to end. I hope she’s strong enough to handle the last one bc that’s when it all goes down. She was not ready for this at all and for that I feel sorry. Watching the last one really helps you appreciate the entire series

For perfectly understandable reasons, scriptwriter Steve Kloves omitted Dobby from every film except two and seven, despite him appearing in every book from Goblet of Fire onwards. Had The Deathly Hollows been published before they made film four, i think he might have made a different choice though.
My personal favourite Harry Potter movie, it’s very very under appreciated

I love that the director took his time conveying the isolation etc that was in that first half of the book. Without splitting the book in 2 movies it would have been practically impossible to convey that and feel that weight.
I'm not really a fan of David Yates in HP, but this is really his best HP movie (not counting Fantastic Beasts 1, which I actually think is his best). Most people love DH 2 more, but I think this one is way better. I'd say this is my 2nd favourite HP movie.

I like that he was able to stick to the "feeling" of each book even though not necessarily to all the plots. The Half Blood Prince probably suffered the most on this regard but i think he still did a great job given only having 1 movie to do it.
Same. I haven’t read the books but I love this movie. The since of isolation and a whole movie without Hogwarts. The exodus, opening, and forest chase scenes have to be my favorites. Also the only HP movie I saw at the theater.

She can pay her respects to Dobby at his grave ( now a shrine) here in Pembrokeshire, Wales at Freshwater West beach. There are constantly socks left for him, which are regularly moved by the Pemba coast wardens but, like magic more arrive daily.

I love the Harry Potter franchise it gas evolved over the years to become a cultural phenomenon. But if they ever decided to reboot the franchise say 20 years from now I think it should be done in miniseries or tv style because then you can have everything that wasn't in the movies that did take place in the books
If it was up to me, I would do a 7 season series with 7 episodes in each season (since 7 is the most powerful number in the wizarding world).

I thought this dark, gloomy atmosphere was brilliant though. And the way pt2 starts is also so very haunting it's beautiful. The first 5 minutes are pure, depressing artwork.

At 11:40 he actually got hit by a death spell. It it is not really explained in the movies, but giants are immune to spells and since hagrid is a half giant, he just gets knocked out by a avada kedavra.

This movie is excellent imo, it has the best tone and atmosphere out of the HP movies. It's just full of tension and grief
About the spell for walking/not getting tired thing: I don't think there's a spell for that. If I remember correctly, they were able to multiply whatever food they got magically. But the magically multiplied food doesn't have the same nutritional value, so they were often hungry anyway.

I feel like Emma Watson really improved her acting skills in this movie. I mean even in the 6th one her facial expressions were a lot more expressive than in the first 5 but in this one she's so good.
Imo as the film went on she improved the most out of the three.

@@soubhagyanayak3098 Probably because both Daniel and Rupert had prior acting experience and she had none, so she literally gained more acting experience doing these films than they did.
She is so dead on in her through processes. I was never that in tune the first time I saw these movies. Her transition has been incredible to watch.
I remember when I watched this at the cinema ... the shock. Even though I read the book before I left completely lost, a lot to process.

Many reactors says "nothing really happened in this movie", but I'm definitely with Monica here. It's a road movie. Lots of tention, a lot going on, much drama, and now and then really heartwrenching. My luck; I read the books as soon as they came out, so I was warned.
